I've ordered bins from companies all over the GTA for various jobs my company worked on. The way it goes is I call for the bin. They ask me what size. I tell them what size. They ask me what's going in the bin. I tell them what's going into the bin. They ask me when I want it delivered. I tell them when I want it delivered. They ask for payment info. I give them payment info. Done. However, redbin NEVER asked me what I was putting in the bin. They do on their website. I filled the bin with clean fill. When the driver came to pick it up, the doorbell rang. I opened the door only to have "What did you do!!!" screamed in my face. I looked outside at the bin and see nothing is wrong so, I asked him what he was talking about. He starts slamming his finger down on his clipboard pointing to the mixed waste box that was checked off. I told him that I never said what I was putting in the bin and that his company had made a mistake. He starts yelling so loud that two of my neighbours came out to see what was going on. He's yelling about how he brought the wrong truck and that he would have to drive all the way back to pick up one that could carry the load. I apologized and he left. I called redbins immediately about how I didn't appreciate being yelled at by their driver for a mistake they made. I spoke to the female dispatcher mentioned in other reviews. The driver must have called her beforehand because she answered the phone like this... "I don't want to hear it (my name)! You know what you did (my name) and now you're going to pay for it!" "Pardon me? Is that a threat?" I asked. She then followed with... "I'm not here to hold your hand (my name). It's not our responsinility to ask you what you are putting in the bin, it's your responsibility (my name)! Now that you've put dirt in it, you're going to pay (my name)!" I was so taken aback by this that, if not for the tone of her voice, I would've thought she was joking. She was not. I asked her that if I failed to tell her what was going in the bin why, then, did the driver's clipboard say mixed waste and bring the wrong truck. You'd think a company would want to avoid mistakes like this instead of paying more for gas and for the extra time their driver took to pick up another truck. It's called logistics. She hung up on me twice for, apparently, talking over her even though I couldn't get a word in edgewise. I was hung up on for a third time and was left dumbfounded. Even more so when the phone rang and it was their number. It was the owner calling and he explained what happened and did apologize. However, he too tried to make me feel like I made the mistake in not telling them what I was going to put in the bin. Ridiculous!
Finally, the driver showed up with a different truck. Unfortunately, on his way here, the fender over the back tires came loose and was now rubbing against them. So, he had to leave without taking the bin. He called and told me he would be back in two days to pick the bin up after getting the truck fixed. He did. Problem is, he dragged the bin forward for two feet before lifting the front end of the bin and badly gouged my driveway. I'm not talking about the indentation caused by the shear weight of the bin. These are fresh gouge marks that lifted some of the asphalt up.
Don't make my mistake in ignoring the bad reviews. Sure, maybe you'll have a good experience but, if there's the potential for this to happen again, why bother?! Obviously, there's a major malfunction with their dispatcher that has been well documented here and on other review based websites. It's not worth the risk to deal with her. Trust me! Stay away from redbins and reward companies that try to do right by their customers. read more
