I really don't know why this place wasn't packed. Really. This place has a ton to offer to the community. We were there for the pool, and it cost $2 per person to swim and use the water slides. The snack bar was closed in the middle of the day for some reason, and they seemed under staffed, but maybe with so few people using the center it was enough people. There is a very impressive skate/bike park out back that three teens were using. Apparently the ice rink is a big draw, but it was under repair while we were there.

It is a relatively new park, celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year. Literature is great, especially the map for the walking tour as well as the buildings "behind the fence". If you collect national park stamps and the NPS visitor center is closed, you can also get it at the Los Alamos visitor center right next door as well as at the Los Alamos Historical Center museum just a little ways away.

Leah in the office was super helpful in telling me what I needed to know to do the trek. And Stuart, the lead, was organized, prepared, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and skilled at everything that was needed to make our trek fun, comfortable, and positively memorable. The llamas were gentle and sweet, Stuart cooked great food, and the views of the lake where we camped were spectacular. I'm so glad I was able to make this adventure happen. I see literally everyone ( women ) taking showers before swimming and after. All of the showers in the women's area work perfectly fine and have warm water. I don't have complaints about the pool, at least not currently. It is easy to get a lap lane in the morning as well. The overall gym is pretty basic for a hardcore gym goer such as myself, BUT, it has all of the basic equipment that most of us need to stay fit. The even better part is that it is rarely crowded ( at least during the day) and parking is easy. The outdoor track is in a gorgeous setting and the 3 mile running loop is decent for a run or walk ( though perhaps not so scenic :) For me, this place is a lifesaver. Let's face it, we're in Pojoaque, rural northern New Mexico, and I'm happy we have a gym at all. If you live nearby, I encourage you to check it out. The staff is friendly and the amenities are pretty good. I'm grateful that it's nearby.
