We looked up reviews to find a restaurant in Williams since it is a smaller, older community with no chain restaurants we needed to choose based on others experiences. Red Raven came highly recommended and we found out that reputation is well deserved. We had wonderful service from our waiter Jonathan and all 5 of our meals were terrific! I wasn't expecting our introduction to the south to come as soon as the Grand Canyon but lo and behold it did! I guess that is why it is called the SOUTHwest... we came equipped w/ the west part, fortunately. After spending a night at the ever-so-marvelous Arizona 9 Motel (sarcasm) on Route 66 we were eager to take advantage of the location and eat our last meal before being swallowed by the grandness of a particular canyon for a few days. We decided on Red Raven because upon looking at the menu I figured I could convince a server to have the cook staff veganize a few things. The special of the day was a veggie gazpacho and while generally speaking gazpacho should be vegan I triple checked, and then when I felt convinced I ordered it with a veggie wrap sans cheese. The server was very confused by my requests but friendly and willing enough to appease to my "western" tastes. This is why I prefaced this review with a mention of the south, without going into great detail as to not offend anyone nor talk obvious smack hopefully mentioning the speed of service as being "slow" will clue readers of this review onto catching my drift... while the menu at Red Raven is more on the healthy rather than fried and greasy spectrum of things I think I would've been doing everyone involved a favor had I just ordered a hamburger... Great find in Williams. Had dinner here on Thursday night. The menu offers some nice choices and the daily specials all sounded good. I chose the rib eye steak smothered in onions and mushrooms. Cooked perfectly to order and served hot and juicy. Included were some roasted potatoes and tempura fried broccolini. You also get a choice of soup or salad and all for $23. Pretty good value. The wines were decent and offered some choices from California as well as Spain. The service was good and the people were friendly. (I sat at the bar) All and all a good experience at a reasonable price. I'll be back next time in Williams. read more

We spend much of the summer up in Williams (live in Phoenix but leave our RV in Williams all Summer). There are plenty of every day type restaurant choices but very few that are meant to impress and provide a higher level of dining. For Williams this is as good as it gets. We were spending a night in Williams after a day of exploring the canyon. We stumbled upon this place and it was a winner. Nice wine, warm & sweet lobster bisque, terrific filet mignon and a "to die for" dark chocolate mousse that looked like it came out of a fine pastry shop. Looking at the Yelp reviews for other restaurants in Williams, AZ, this looked like the best place to try and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a group on 9, 4 adults & 5 kids. They accommodated us quickly and without any problems. This is not the best place for kids though (no kids menu), but we were able to order the appetizer chicken strips and butter/Parmesan pasta for the kids to share and the kids loved it. My husband got the medium rare ribeye and it was cooked & seasoned perfectly. It came with roasted potatoes and these tempura battered broccolini, which were the best!! Our friend had the salmon with fettuccini Alfredo, which he said was great. I had the chicken parmigiana. It was ok, next time I will get the ribeye! The meal came with a soup or salad and some delicious, warm french bread with this amazing garlic butter. They refilled our baskets without question. My husband picked this place and I was pleased from the moment we stepped in. I loved the atmosphere since it was fresh & clean & inviting. I ordered the Salmon Cilantro with the Gazpacho soup. WOW is all I can say. I chose white wine and had a dreamy taste party all the way to the tonsils. My husband's steak was like butter, my son had a squash ravioli. The staff was STELLAR. By far the best restaurant in Williams!!!! (FYI I am not a Williams native but have visited several times). We came in on a Tuesday night with a group of 10 without a reservation. The restaurant was able to accommodate us even though they had two other large group coming in shortly after us. Then on top of the excellent service, the food was spectacular! The bread with herb butter was pretty good as well though not refilled after it was gone. Maybe they would have refilled if asked? Considering we were out in AZ, one of our party ordered the mahi, surprisingly tasty. My husband ordered the Raven pasta, would not recommend. Bland considering all the herbs added to it. What a treasure in Williams. Walking in the door was inviting, it was warm on a cool day. Table cloths and a professional wait staff. I ordered a bowl of the soup of the day and it was an amazing chicken rice curry delight. My husband had the veggie wrap and said it was the best he has ever had. On our way to CA from GA, we ate here thanks to Yelp. OMG! What a culinary delight! My husband's ribeye was so flavorful and tender. My Pork Tenderloin salad was over the top scrumptious! The staff was very helpful, friendly and attentive. My only regret is that we are passing through and can't stay to sample all the other incredible dishes. Can't comment on food as I didn't make it to stable before walking out. Took 10 min for anyone to even notice us. Then were told it was 30min wait when we were literally the only ones waiting for a table and there were a few empty ones. Asked to sit at bar and they said they don't serve people at the bar. Exceptional food and service at Red Raven. We came here after our Polar Express train ride with 8 adults and 5 children and they were extremely accommodating. They allowed us to position two strollers near our table and were so sweet. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. There was never a glass empty or a plate left on the table after we finished one of our courses. Everything was extremely fresh and flavorful. I had the garden salad to start and my server recommended the sesame dressing. It did not disappoint. It was exactly what I needed after eating cookies and hot chocolate on the train. Lol It was fresh and was filled with an array of fresh veggies. For my main course I had the Spicy shrimp linguine. I am a bit of a wimp with spice and I asked the server if they could make this dish mild and they did. Wow! It was so flavorful. I literally ate every bite, which I rarely do with pasta, but it was too good to not finish. We will definitely be back during our annual trip here to Williams. read more

After riding the train back into Williams from a great Grand Canyon visit, we needed to spend our hard earned dollars on some good food. We enjoyed our visit here. There were not many people here (it's a small town) and we were well cared for here. Great place right on route 66 in Williams AZ, small not a ton of tables so its always good to make a reservation if you can which we did. The door brings a cold breeze in during the winter months every time a new guest arrives so just something i wanted to point out as i was close to the door on a cold november night.
