Was recommended here by pretty much all of Williams! The food is AHHHMAZING! pricey but worth the money. I ordered a salmon salad. Fish was cooked perfectly but the portion a bit on the smaller side. They offer you fresh baked bread and butter. Yummy! Husband ordered steak with cous-cous and their famous battered broccoli. I tasted his food and it was better than mine. Probably one of the best prime ribs I've had. Cooked to perfection. Lamb brochettes appetizer a bit overcooked but was pretty good anyways. Salad was great with their house sauce and beef barley soup was delicious. Their fried string broccoli that came with the entree was amazing! Starving after a day at Grand Canyon we went to red raven for dinner. We were very happy we did as both the service and The food were brilliant. On top of that it was good prices. First time in Williams and I came here after looking at the yelp review and by advice of my French guide. Okay the service is slower than in any basic American restaurant (as said in other reviews) but it is definitely worth the wait! I had the duck breast and my girlfriend the ribeye. Both meats were high quality and cooked to perfection! First time I have the duck in the US and as a french guy I can say this one is perfect! The sides as the couscous were very tasteful too. We finally had the chocolate trilogy and coconut princess as dessert, they were really smooth and light compared to any American restaurant. Finally for this quality of food, the price is really good, specially compared to what you can find in the tourist area around like Grand Canyon. Williams Az, a small town in Arizona in between Kingman and Flagstaff. I was there on vacation visiting the Grand Canyon with my girlfriend. While there, I had to try to find the best food in town. I passed by McDonald's and other fast food joints but those were not going to satisfy my appetite. So I went around asking the locals what place I had to try...they all mentioned Red Raven restaurant. Not asking them what kind of food they served, I trusted their advice and my mind was set. 7 o'clock comes around and my stomach is on empty and I'm having hunger pains. So we drive to Red Raven and find a parking spot right in front. As I put my truck in park, we glance inside the restaurant and find no customers inside. Now, I'm thinking I was lied to by the locals who made me believe this place was good. At this point I really didn't care if it was good or not, I was already here and again the hunger pains were getting more intense. We go inside and was immediately greeted by a waitress/host who politely greeted us. She sat us in a booth in the front so we could enjoy the nice view of the snow covered streets of Williams. She tells us the specials as she hands us the menus. After looking over the menu, I decide on the pork medallions with chipotle sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and fried broccolini. My girlfriend chose the pub steak with tempura fried shrimp, fried broccolini, and rice. After we placed our order, we munched on some bread, which was just ok-it needed to be hot, to ease our hunger pains while our dinner was prepared. The time finally comes..I see our waitress walking towards us holding two plates. I suddenly got excited and had a big smile on my face just thinking I will be eating pork in about 5 secs. The plates finally reached our table and all I can say is WOW! The presentation was good and the smell was even better. Without hesitation, I dive in my dish. My pork was perfectly cooked and all the sides were excellent. The chipotle sauce was spicy but not too spicy where I couldn't enjoy my food. The mashed potatoes had a strong taste of garlic which I enjoyed very much. The fried broccolini I was not a fan of. I even dove into my girlfriends steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and very juicy. It had perfect seasoning encrusted all around the baseball size steak. After stuffing our stomachs and satifying our hunger, we sit in our booth slouched over with a satisfied feeling. Overall we enjoyed this restaurant and will be back for sure. read more

Okay, I'm giving this place a boost because they were open with a full menu on CHRISTMAS! We thought we'd have to eat at the local Denny's, but were treated to this instead. The food was delicious. The portions were reasonable. We both got bottles of ale from the brewery in nearby Sedona. The service was really good - the waitress told my wife she smelled really nice, which was either a quirky form of flattery or an ingenious strategy to get a bigger tip. This place was an unexpected, wonderful, surprise. Williams is the tiniest of towns where you wouldn't expect to have a great dining experience. This restaurant literally blew us all away. We had to wait for a reservation as the first day we tried to get in they were booked solid. So make sure you reserve ahead of time. I had a duck breast that was better than ever I had ever had in Miami, NY or any of my other travels. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The wine was CHEAP ($7 a glass) and delicious! My husband and son had steaks that were perfectly cooked and even my vegetarian daughter was able to find a pasta dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. My only complaint is quite honestly the owner. He wasn't very friendly. But... he more than made up for it in quality. read more

But, along with this kind of price, IMO, brings an expectation of a higher quality of service, and that is where Red Raven let us down. First of all, the host was not very welcoming. He seemed distracted or maybe even somewhat put off by our arrival, even though we had reservations. I wondered if it was my kids. I have four aged 4, 6, 8, and 15. There were no other kids in the place that I could see, so I wondered if he expected them to be distracting (they weren't, they were very well behaved). The waitress arrived and took our drink order relatively quickly and we ordered our meal within 10-15 minutes of arrival. The arrival of the soup, salads, and bread seemed to take a bit (they didn't look slammed to me), but was soooo good that I didn't take much notice. And then we waited, and waited, and waited for the meal to arrive. It took a full 55 minutes between the time we arrived and the time the meal finally got put on our plates. It was a long wait. My kids had gone through several rounds of soda and weren't even very hungry at that point. I had asked for some french fries, which were not listed on the menu, for my youngest and the waitress said she would see if they could throw some in (they have some for the lunch menu). When the food arrived without them, I asked her about it and she immediately when to talk to the host/manager who standing nearby. He pretty dismissively said "no" and I wondered again, based on his body language, whether or not he was happy for us to be there. The waitress clearly hadn't remembered this though and asked about the fries AFTER the food was put on the table. There was one other thing forgotten by the waitress during our meal, but I can't remember right now what it was. So, despite the very, very good food, because of the poor service and relatively high cost of the meal, I can only give two stars. I hope this was a fluke for them. If I am ever in Williams again, I'll probably give them a second chance, but maybe just my wife and I the next time. :) read more

What a sweet, delectable oasis surrounded by burger joints and mediocre Mexican cantinas. The menu was filled with fresh choices and the service was perfect...with a smile. Ambience felt upscale, yet comfortable for camping attire. Red Raven was open to customer's substitution. Marinated ginger beef salad exceeded expectations. Oh my word! This was an unexpected treasure to find in little Williams, AZ. SO glad we called for a reservation on our way back from the Grand Canyon. I wish we were staying another night so we could come back tomorrow. It really is that good. They kindly put up with a cranky, sleep-deprived toddler (they do have a kids pasta dish that is not evident on the menu). Service was good. The duck breast was divine. I almost ordered another plate, and did not want to eat the last bite. My husband raved about the lamb. The wine was good as well. Just got back from dinner at Red Raven after reading the reviews. In all honesty the food was no more than average and the service was "absolutely" horrible. It took two hours for dinner while we watched other patrons arrive after us, eat, and depart before us. Our waitress "never" came to the table to take an additional drink order or to see if the food was adequate after being served. Do yourself a favor and eat at Poncho Magilacuty's around the corner near the railroad station. I know we'll never go back. read more

Had dinner here before hoping on the train to the Grand Canyon the next morning. Decided to give this place a try after reading the great reviews. I was not disappointed! We all started with lobster bisque, which was full of flavor and totally delicious! I ordered the salmon with fettuccine alfredo, and the fish was very fresh. My son loved the alfredo and kept asking for more. Mom had the mahi mahi and dad had the sirloin steak. They both enjoyed their meals very much. We ended the night with a pineapple coconut cake, which was also very tasty, but small for the price. Overall, it was a great experience. We read good things about this place, so we gave it a try; other places we tried were not very good - we were hopeful. The place is long and narrow inside, seating parties of 2,3 and 4 easily. While we were there, they turned away a few larger parties. They do take reservations, so they can accommodate larger parties with notice, but walk-ins of 6 or more will have a hefty wait for a table. Frankly, I am very suspicious when a waitress says that "everything is excellent"; it never is! My husband started with the tossed salad, which came with his meal. He said it was weak. I had the soup of the day-Lobster Bisque, on the recommendation of the server. Good, not great. I had the Chicken Pasta - very ordinary, but the veggies were still crispy and the chicken was still moist. My guy had the Chicken Parm - also weak and burned on the bottom. Desserts are not house made, but the Coconut Pineapple Princess was good; but I won't dream about it! People, people.....places like this rely on us "one timers" for s quick buck-who will never be back again. They get enough new visitors that they really don't knock themselves out to put out truly great food. They don't have to. Overall, the kitchen and waitstaff needs to work on presentation and follow up; no grated cheese was offered for the Parmesan; waitress never came to freshen our drinks. Where do I start? The service was great from the moment we walked in. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken immediately. Most orders come with soup or salad. Food was served quickly. I had the lobster bisque and it was soooooo delicious. I am very picky with my soups and I promise you, this soup is amazing. It had a little spice to it making it perfect. Steaks, cooked to perfection. Rivaled CUT in Beverly Hills. No kids menu so my kids lucked out with a full adult meal and leftovers for the next day. If you're in Williams? Stopping here is a MUST. High quality cuts of beef, fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. Loved it so much, I'm headed there again tonight. We spent about $220 (tip was already included) for a party of 5 which included; 5 entrees, an appetizer, 3 desserts and 5 cocktails. It's a steal for the quality (specially when we ordered Rib-Eyes and lobster). Highly recommend (FYI the last time I dined at CUT whose quality seemed equal to this, our dinner tab was about $600 ). Crazy to say this, but we didn't even eat here an I'm a fan. Based on the other yelp reviews and the "$$" rate (same as most other restaurants), I took my family here after an exhausting day as a tourist. The restaurant was gorgeous, at once elegant and homey. The menu choices looked really appealing, but when I saw the prices, I knew we needed to down grade. Nice salads started around $20 and the entrees started around $30. I apologized to the hostess and said we needed to leave but she was so gracious. I would absolutely go there again when we are ready for something a little nicer, because of the choices and the way we were treated. read more

Yep I live in Williams, Yep this is even where many locals go. Up scale? It is nice and has great atmosphere! I have seen upscale and you do not get a steak for under $20 in ANY upscale place. I read things that say out of a can and other remarks. I can tell you I have never had anything out of a can here. This is one place that while you wait you can go to the restroom and be amazed at how clean they are you know they are cleaned daily. There is the kitchen! Poke your head in there and look around they won't mind! And you will see a clean kitchen. I can tell you that if you could see in MANY of the kitchens of places you eat, Up scale or not, you would not go back. This place is amazing. My son is now 14 and he eats the salmon every time we go there. My daughter is 22 and she has the pork cilantro. The soups are homemade and not from any can. And yes you can screw up a Ribeye. But I have never had anything here but an awesome meal. It is a tiny place and they can get rather busy. In what town on a busy Friday or Saturday night can you just walk up and expect to be seated? Well, usually you can here. And I see groups of 12 just walk up and say, "We don't need reservations do we?" I guess I am the only one who thinks planning always helps when you just BOMB a local eatery with a large group. What I enjoy is to sit and listen to the folks from all around the world who come to the grand canyon and you hear them all talk about what "lovely" soup this is.. or how wonderful the bread is. That their steak is "Spot on" and I think. WE here in the USA are SPOILED! This is an awesome place to eat and if we have a bad experience then we need to say something and see if it can be fixed. When in Williams, DO NOT MISS! Whether you are stopping in town after a day of hiking the Grand Canyon or traveling Route 66, the Red Raven is worth the stop. They have great soups, a nice wine selection, and good entrees...my favorite is their Greek salad with lamb.
