Anastasia, Ryan and Irene are amazing so polite, I've been to many facilities but recovery unplugged is top notch, they really care about your sobriety. I was down bad when I got to Recovery Unplugged, and ended up leaving with so much hope for myself and my new way of life. The staff were always helpful and made me feel like I was a priority. I have been to treatment centers where I have not felt safe or heard, so I really appreciated that. The alumni team continues to check in with me since I left and I made some amazing friendships. I feel like I have a whole sober squad now that holds me accountable and cares. Love this place! read more

Went to the west palm beach location. Everyone was friendly at first and the services were adequate. However, I quit prematurely and they refused to give me back my clonazepam prescription that I walked in with. Suddenly, they weren't nice anymore. If you have a benzodiazepine prescription make sure you keep it at home. Also, the instruments available were pretty subpar but I was just happy to be able to play music while recovering. read more

Recovery Unplugged is the first (and only) rehab facility I've ever been to. From Kevin in administration to Jazzy in the chow hall the staff is very approachable. I didn't know what to expect - I checked myself in after trying to quit taking Xanax after nearly 20 years of prescribed use. To a lesser extent they helped me get past the withdrawal phase of stopping Opiate meds (also prescribed for chronic pain associated with a traumatic leg amputation). I've never been into the street drug scene which seemingly made me the minority there - I couldn't believe how many young people were patients there. I was shocked to hear their stories, but all in all everyone was very helpful (staff and patients). There are 2 basic phases of treatment that I observed, detox and recovery. Detox is generally the first 7-10 days during which the doctors will prescribe meds that will mitigate the worst of it. During withdrawal not much is expected of a person - they generally leave you be except to administer meds. That was very helpful as I didn't have the motivation to do much beyond sleep and occasionally eat. I probably got lucky (being in a wheelchair it kind of gave me an advantage) because I had a room to myself. Every room has a TV and ample room for someone in a wheelchair. Getting in and out of the shower was challenging but not impossible. The beds were comfortable to me! I won't say this applied to everyone, but being older than pretty much everyone including the staff no one tried to pull rank on me. I did what I wanted to do, and didn't do what I didn't want to do. You fall into a schedule fairly quickly. Wake up, meds, eat, chill, go to group, lunch, chill, group again, dinner, chill, sleep, repeat. During down time there are things to do. Watch a movie in the movie room, play music in the music room (they had all the instruments a band needs AND a PA system!), but by far I enjoyed just getting to know the people I spent all day with. I didn't go to make friends, but while I was there I was friendly, and it was met in kind. The doctors aren't bad. They are about like any other doctor. I'm not a big fan of doctors, and I tend to rub them the wrong way. I'm pretty sure they were happy to see me go home. All in all my time in Lake Worth was very productive. I'm still clean and will stay that way. Oh, BTW, if you decide to try RU, tell Cowboy I said "hey howdy". He'll know what you mean! read more

Negative stars would be generous. I wanted to be proactive about my recovery, and thought that a rehab center would be the way to go. My rationale was that I thought I could afford a nice place, since my insurance is good, and i could afford to pay for some of it out of pocket. Recovery unplugged advertises itself as a caring, modern, comfortable, safe place, with quality care and amenities. I actually packed a swimsuit, because I thought there would be a pool. HA! The staff were rude, unhelpful, unprofessional, and incompetent. No corner of the facility resembled the photos I had seen. When I commented on this, one employee laughed and said "none of them do." When I asked to leave, I was at first told that the decision wasn't upto me, even though I'd never to my knowledge signed anything surrendering this power. The walls had little stains all over them. My blanket had a hole in it, and the nightstand was covered in scratches, to the point that I'm sure a thrift store would not have accepted it. I wasn't given a copy of my patient rights. They drew blood from the back of my hand without telling me why or informing me that I had a right to refuse, at which point I became so frightened by the whole situation that i began to hyperventilate and then threw up. The nurse's office was dirty as well, and when I said so, there was no reaction from the staff, as if this was of no concern to them whatsoever. My clothes, phone and keys were taken away, without prior warning or explanation, and I was pressured to sign things I didn't fully understand, and was not allowed to read for myself. My room mate complained that another patient had punched her in the face and threatened to kill her dog. Another patient's Pitt bull had attacked someone. I was honestly terrified that they would not let me leave. When I finally did leave, they notified my mother that I had been there, despite that I had told them multiple times that she was unaware of my drug problem and that they should only contact her in an emergency, which they promised multiple times would be the case. They were rude to her as well, told her I had left to go use drugs, and then hung up on her. I don't think one dime has been spent on upkeep on the property in at least a decade. The food was not edible. I was as polite as possible to everyone, and was treated like dirt. Most of the staff seemed too young, and the neighborhood was run-down. People had warned me that there were places out there that were total scams, but I thought from the way that recovery unplugged represented itself that it would be a resort-type experience. I am extremely unlikely to pursue another residential detox program. Most of the patients looked like felons, and were miserable. I stayed only 8 hours, and would have left sooner, if given the chance. I felt extremely unsafe. It was truly a traumatizing experience. Please, please, do not go here or send anyone you care about to this place. The best I can say of it is that it might be slightly better than jail. This place will definitely unplug your recovery. read more

RECOVERY UNPLUGGED, thank you for saving my life. This Program is exceptional. I entered broken and hopeless. I hated living in my own skin and completely disconnected from my beautiful violin. I stopped listening to music because it brought up feelings that were too painful to deal with. I could not stop drinking and could not get out of bed. My anxiety and depression was through the roof. My health was failing. My life was absolute hell. I didn't want to live like this anymore. Rehab was a life or death decision. RECOVERY UNPLUGGED brought me back to music. - back to life. Music is the vehicle that allowed me to feel again - to experience my pain and process it under the expert guidance of individual and group therapists. This program utilizes music as a highly effective therapeutic tool specifically for this purpose. IT WORKS. The RECOVERY UNPLUGGED program is a synthesis of group therapy, one on one counseling and connectedness of community. Many people in this community had previously attended several other rehab programs only to leave prematurely, against medical advice. These very people chose to stay the full course at RECOVERY UNPLUGGED. They all remarked how different this program is and how much they got from it. I loved my experience there and remained motivated and willing to do the hard work. The campus is beautiful and peaceful. The residence and detox areas are all well maintained and fully stocked with snacks and cereal. The meals are healthy and delicious thanks to excellent kitchen staff. There are ample laundry facilities and the very friendly techs are always available to help with anything. There is even a meditation garden with a large fountain - great for starting off a serene day. Loved that fountain! AND - loved the music room (stage and all!). I am so very grateful to the entire staff and community at RECOVERY UNPLUGGED for giving me my beautiful, happy, joyous and free life back. RECOVERY UNPLUGGED ROCKS! read more
