Recoverfab is almost magical in its abilities. Go to them first! My story: I had a 128GB Lexar CF card that failed after an important video shoot. Halfway through the transfer using a USB-C card reader, the card disappeared from the computer and wouldn't mount on any computer, using any card reader, and I spent days trying different combinations. So I searched for online CompactFlash recovery options using google and one of the first listed was an American company in Los Angeles that promised they had the technical abilities to extract the data using a lab. But after several weeks (and "diagnostic fees") they were unable to recover any data. I thought that meant it was impossible but I tried Recoverfab, a small German company run by a storage-chip genius. I sent him the card via Fedex and within an extremely short period of time I was shown thumbnails of all the missing files! His prices are standardized and fair and the customer service is FANTASTIC. Best of all, the data is recovered and available to download online. --Sincerely yours, Lukas Hauser, McConnell/Hauser Video Productions read more

A close friend of mine had a 18-month old Lexar 64 GB 1000X Professional CF card completely fail on her recently after a wedding. She had filled it with RAW CR2 images on a 5D Mark III, and when I went to import it to my Mac, the computer asked me to "Initialize" (aka format) the card. She was FREAKING out as it was the only copy of these images. We tried every piece of recovery software I could find, and all of them said the card was essentially empty. She tried platinum data services, they said it was empty. She had basically given up, but I refused to believe it was "empty", so I did some googling and found a German company called http://recoverfab.com, who disassembles the card and reads the data from the actual NAND memory chips, and there was enough evidence to trust them so I sent it off on Saturday. Today, they emailed us and we are 100% recovered! If your card shows nothing on the recovery software, it means the card's controller might have died, but the data is still recoverable through this process. It's not cheap ($1000 for 64GB), but compared to other companies with the same service, it is much cheaper. read more

History
Established in 2008.

Ok, so I never write reviews for anything, but with the results we've experienced with this company, it is a must! A friend of ours took pictures for us at our wedding. He was using a Canon DSLR camera with a 32GB PNY CF card. We were horrified to learn that the card had failed. When inserting it into the card reader, the computer would only see 33.5MB of data and none were pictures. We even tried a different card reader as well as the reader built-in to my laptop. We tried accessing it via the camera and got an error message. We then tried some software recovery programs - TestDisk/PhotoRec, Zero Assumption Recovery, and Recuva, but we were unable to recover anything. We took it to some local camera shops but they were unable to recover anything, noting they tried 4 different types of software. We then took it to Geek Squad where they took it through various levels of data recovery. The card was shipped to their cleanroom facility in Louisville, KY. They noted going through several steps from software recovery efforts to finally opening the card up. I'm not sure what they did exactly when opening the card, but I think they tried to load new firmware to make the card readable again. Alas, that didn't work. When we got it back, for kicks, I tried opening it on different Operating Systems - Knoppix Live CD, Ubuntu, Mac, and Windows 7; we encountered the same 33.5MB issue. We were losing hope quick but continued to search for options. I came across a Germany based data recovery website - http://recoverfab.com/. I admit, I was skeptical at first. Site being in Germany, wasn't sure if I could trust the reviews, the website didn't look like it had been updated in a while, etc. One thing that got my attention was the video posted here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-jrzsaT6ls, describing the data recovery process. It made sense to me and knew it was something Geek Squad didn't try. I figured we had nothing to lose and we had done our due diligence in trying to recover the pictures. One of the pros of the website is that you don't have to pay anything unless recovery is a success. Basically, the risk you run is the cost of shipping to the facility and the card itself, which we believed to have already been a loss cause. I assessed the risk to be low, and sent it off, fingers crossed. Leopold, the professional data recovery guru, was helpful every step of the way. The questions I had before I sent it off and during the process was answered promptly. He gave us a date when we should have results, which was a week after receipt of the card. Unfortunately, our case was a little complex and required a little more time. After one more week, we got the great news! He was able to recover 207 photos from the card, there was an error with 1 of the 4 chips on the card which prevented a full recovery, but we were thrilled nonetheless. Upon logging in to the site we were able to view the thumbnails of all 207 photos. Upon request, he was also nice enough to send us 1 picture at full resolution so that we could view it, and what a beautiful picture it was! Leopold even offered a 15% discount granted we write a review about our experience and share it. I no longer have doubts about this company and will definitely recommend to my friends and family. Hopefully we won't have to do anymore data recovery, but in the event we do, we will go back to Leopold at Recoverfab. Mahalo! read more

I dropped my photographers compact flash drive after she shot a friends wedding. When I tried to download the files, nothing showed up on the disk. I tried two computers, two card readers, and the two identical cameras to view the files. Nothing worked. I felt horrible, and I know the photographer was devastated. How do you tell a bride and groom that you (or your friend) ruined their photos! I had to find a way to recover the data. I searched online for assistance, and was told that if you couldn't see the files, recovery software would not work. I was told to contact several companies within the US, and Recoverfab in Germany. I was a little nervous about sending the disc to Germany, as I didn't know how the shipping process would be, so I decided to check around in the US first. After much consideration, I decided to call SanDisk, the disk manufacturer, and several data recovery companies. The companies in the US were extremely pricey, and most didn't have the best reviews. The manufacturer didn't call me back right away, so I decided that I was going to to contact Recoverfab in Germany. A gentleman named Leopold assisted me. He was amazing, and made me feel very comfortable with their process, and that their recovery rate was very favorable. They were a little more expensive, but not nearly as much as most of the US companies. I again searched the internet, and found that they received very good reviews. I decided to have Leopold setup an account for my return, and packaged my disk for shipping. In the meantime, the manufacturer responded to my e-mail. Their representative recommended a company in Florida that they used, so I decided to contact that company as well. They were less expensive than Recoverfab, and very helpful on the phone,so I changed my mind (mainly because they were in the US), and decided to send them the disk. After speaking to them, I contacted Leopold at Recoverfab, and told them that I was going to send the disk to this company. He was very understanding, and told me that he would keep my account open in case this other company was unsuccessful. He told me that it was very common for companies to say they could recover data, when in fact they didn't have the right technology to do so. Later that day, I decided to search for reviews on the company that SanDisk recommended. I found too many unfavorable reviews, which caused me to question my decision to send the disk to them. Needless to say, I changed my mind once again, and sent the disk to Germany. It took two weeks for the disk to reach Recoverfab, but when it did I received an e-mail from Leopold immediately. This relieved the first portion of my distress. Two days later, I received another e-mail stating that they were able to recover 100% of my data! I immediately looked at the sample photos that were linked to my account, and sure enough all of the files that I could view were perfect! I can't tell you how excited and relieved I was! Recoverfab is well worth the money! Not only did they get all of my data recovered, but they were fast, and friendly. I recommend Recoverfab to anyone out there that needs to recover data. If the data that you've lost is precious to you, the cost becomes unimportant. I know that I will use Recoverfab if I ever need this type of service again. I can't thank them enough. read more

I work for a small advertising agency, and we had recently finished a weekend-long photo shoot for one of our largest clients at the beach. We spend quite a bit of time and money doing these types of photo shoots, and when we went to download the photos, we were horrified to learn that our SD card was broken and that the images were lost - or so we thought. If we lost the photos, not only would we have to foot the bill for a re-shoot ourselves (not something a small company can take lightly!) AND we would have lost the in-the-moment "magic" that's nearly impossible to recreate a second time. I spent hours searching the Internet for a solution - from everything I could find, it sounded like if my computer wouldn't recognize the SD card, it was probably broken beyond repair. When things were looking bleak, I stumble across Recoverfab's reviews, which (spoiler alert) are glowing for a reason! I was skeptical that they were based in another country, and I was nervous to risk sending our only SD card and having it get lost in the mail. We decided to take a gamble on the fact that Leopold promised we wouldn't pay anything if he couldn't recover our photos, and sent in our SD card to see if he could rescue our photos. The hardest part was waiting for our package to make it to Germany - German customs took a few days to get through, but as soon as Recoverfab received it, they were quick to communicate with me and put my mind at ease. Since this was for a client project (and we hadn't told them the bad news yet), I had opted for the Rush service, which was definitely worth the extra money. Leopold got back to us in less than 24 hours with the MIRACULOUS news that he could recover our photos!! I was in a meeting at the time, but I had to rush out to call our creative director and tell him the good news - we were so, so relieved and grateful to see the photo proofs, and know that our photo shoot was saved! Thank you, Recoverfab, for saving our company time and money - we've learned our lesson (use back-up memory cards and keep them safe from the beach!!) - but our whole team is grateful for your quick and thorough communication and ingenious ability to save our photos when we thought all hope was lost! read more

100% recomendable y en contacto constante por mail ************** While I was transferring the pictures from the gallery of my mobile phone to the microsd card, the phone suddenly got blocked. I decided to remove the battery and restart it. When the phone started, it didnt recognise the microsd any more! I had the microsd card checked in different stores in Barcelona and the budget was between 600-900€. A friend told me about Recoverfab and decided to send the card to Germany (praying it wouldn't get lost). On the 3rd day they wrote saying they had received it and on the 4rt they wrote again to tell me they had recovered all the pictures inside it! They were family pictures of the kids birthday, xmas and school carnival festival. Mostly December and January which I hadn't yet had time to transfer to my computer. The budget wasn't as expensive as the ones I had checked in Barcelona! It didn't reach 300€. I am glad to have recovered the pictures of those months and hope it will never happen again, but if it does, I can trust that Recoverfab can recover them for me! 100% trustworthy and was at all moment in contact by mail! read more

I had a relatively new Sandisk 32 GB MicroSD card I was using to store photographs taken with my phone fail on me in the middle of my family vacation a few weeks ago. Needless to say, I was quite upset by the idea of losing all of those photos of fun moments with my children. I work in information security and have done a number of forensic recoveries myself. Since I was seeing messages indicating the card needed to be formatted, I hoped that the problem was simply a corrupted file system and not a larger problem. However, my attempts to recover the filesystem failed and signs started pointing to a failed MicroSD card controller. That's when I came across Recoverfab and the service provided by this company. Using the process documented on the website, Recoverfab is able to recover data from flash memory devices that have failed controllers, as long as the card is otherwise intact. I contacted Recoverfab and started the order process. Within minutes I received an email with instructions on where to send the card and some information helpful to completing the required customs forms since I am located in the US. Within a week, Recoverfab contacted me to let me know the card was received and the data recovery would be completed within the next 2-3 days. But Recoverfab outdid themselves and had completed the data recovery within 24 hours, giving me access to a preview image showing that our precious vacation photos were intact and ready to download! Kudos to Recoverfab for offering this service that is able to recover data from the physical card medium when many services won't provide recovery beyond a typical software based recovery, which will not work in the event of a memory card controller failure. Outstanding and fast service. Highly recommended if your memory card has the symptoms of a controller failure and you have data you need to have recovered! read more

Recoverfab, 5 sterren! No cure, no pay, duidelijk prijstarieven, goede service en bovendien resultaat! Super gedaan Recoverfab, bedankt! Erwin I read more

Recoverfab is seriously amazing. I found them through internet forums when looking for help with an SD memory card. I had taken a handful of new photos on a 16GB memory Card when my Canon 6D could no longer write to it (in any file format, including RAW/CR2). I figured I could just reformat it when I got home, but soon found that the computer would not recognize any external device had been plugged in. I tried several other functioning memory cards, which worked perfectly. But this card would not mount. Disc recovery software will not work when the computer will not even recognize it, so I knew I was in trouble. I had done some research, and found that there was a way to get the memory chip out of the card, and have it placed into a readable card to retrieve the files. I had seen Recoverfab on forum sites, and when I went to the website, it was LITTERED with reviews from people going through the exact same issue as me! Every one of them had great success with Recoverfab recovering their lost photos, and I can say that I too have had great success with my photos being retrieved! It is much more affordable than a local place near me that offered to do it (but they took over two weeks to respond to me about doing it!) and I felt much more comfortable sending the card to someone with the reputation of doing such things. The job was done super fast, well before the promised date and I am happy with the outcome! Recoverfab saved my photos, and I will definitely use them in the future if any such issue is to arise again! Thank you!! read more

I had just slithered under a barbed wire fence in a grassy, cow pasture in the Aubrac region of France to photograph an ancient, stone buron (where, long ago, milk was churned into cheese and then stored) when my camera refused to store another photo. The 16 GB SD card was about 2/3 full, and it would not display anything. The previous day I filmed a rare and authentic transhumance of cows from the high plateau to lower, greener pastures. Needless to say, I was heartsick. We had had beautiful weather the entire week, so no question about returning to redo all these photos (especially the video) in this normally rainy place. Back home (near Nice, France), I tried and retried two different computers with card readers and a direct link from camera to the computer. Desperately, I searched the Internet for a place which might be able to recover my files, but most recovery software will only work if the card will show up on the desktop. Mine would not. At about 2:00 AM I found Recoverfab.com and its many wonderful reviews. On Monday I sent my card, on Tuesday I received notice that it had arrived, and today, Wednesday, I received the good news that 360 photos and 17 videos were recovered. Unfortunately, the transhumance video was not recovered. The cost is reasonable, the service is swift, and the proprietor answers questions immediately. Recoverfab is a professional outfit, and I recommend it to everyone who has experienced a corrupted or damaged card. You can start sleeping peacefully again. Thank you, Recoverfab. read more

I had given up all hope. My band had rented out a whole theater for a video shoot, complete with a baby grand piano and beautiful lighting. Afterwards, the cinematographer told me the shots were some of the best she'd ever taken and that the performance was great! I was excited to start editing and then share this beautiful video with the world. Then the SD card with all the files died, and I mean really died, it wouldn't even be recognized as being plugged in on any device. I brought it to one tech-savvy friend who had no luck, then to another who specialized in video who had no luck either. I even brought it to a data recovery specialist in town and after days of trying told me the footage was gone! I started researching and calling labs that could literally take the circuit board in the card apart, I got quotes that had a minimum of $400 and went up to almost $2000! That's when I came across Recoverfab in Dresden, Germany. It seemed to be the only place that didn't charge a fortune to do this level of recovery. I shipped it out from Portland, OR USA and waited less than a week before getting a confirmation they'd received it. Within two days they had recovered the unrecoverable and sent me thumbnails of the videos to prove their work. I nearly cried of happiness! I highly recommend Recoverfab for those who think they've lost important files forever. They're straight forward, amazingly-priced and have a quick turnaround. Thanks Leopold at Recoverfab, you really saved me! read more

If you have a physically damaged SD card, contact Recoverfab first and save yourself a lot of heartache and wasted time! The website is clear and straightforward, they respond extremely quickly and transparently to inquiries AND their reasonable prices are posted on their site. Rather than making you go through a whole process of phone calls and contact and soliciting an offer (which you sometimes have to pay for even before knowing if the data is recoverable). I am so thrilled I didn't give up fter taking my slightly bent SD (with 5 summers worth of family photos, kids' concerts, etc) to 2 different data recovery shops here in Frankfurt, Germany, and being told that 1)due to the hairline bend on the board that there was no way to recover the data 2) they could send it to a lab and see, but it would cost between 600 and 800 euros if it could be done at all.... I was so distraught about losing years of photos that I googled and googled and came upon online reviews that pointed to Recoverfab and described the positive, professional impression I have of this firm already. I should mention that I only put my SD card in the mail yesterday to Recoverfab and 24 hours later I'm looking at the preview images of my recovered photos! What a huge relief to find Recoverfab among the sea of expensive and impossible-to-decipher online data recovery services!! read more

My 7-year-old 16GB thumb drive corrupted suddenly while I was transferring some massive data. I have attempted to recover the data by trying almost all the software recommended online but to no avail. I have subsequently approached a few local data recovery centers but upon diagnosis, all they told is that the memory chip is damage and it is impossible to recover my data. I was in despair upon knowing that my years of data might go down to drain. Unwilling to give up just yet, I have found Recoverfab on the web. After reading all the positive comments (with 100% customer satisfaction and over 90% successful rate), I decided to give it a try by sending in the corrupted thumb drive to Mr. Leopold Hiersche from Recoverfab. Within two days after receiving the drive, I was informed that he had managed to salvage approximately 80% of my data, while the remaining 20% was beyond recoverable due to partly broken memory chips. Despite so, I am grateful enough for his professional service. Without him, I would not know who else is capable of recovering the data for me. For anyone who encounter similar mishap as me, I would highly recommend Recoverfab (http://recoverfab.com/index.php) as your first approach for data recovery before investing your valuable resources looking for other similar service providers. read more

Whilst travelling around Asia this year I managed to break my SD 16 GB memory card whilst in the sea!! I had it in what I thought was a waterproof money wallet (do NOT trust these 'waterproof' money wallets in Asia they do NOT work- I found out the hard way!!) and got it wet in the sea. My camera then would not read the memory card and it was saying my memory card was locked :( I was so upset, and thought I'd lost my photos forever. Anyway- after returning home I did an internet search and came across a website called Recoverfab- who said they were able to fix my memory card. I searched through reviews first to make sure they were a reputable company (all the reviews were good) and then posted off my memory card to see if they could fix it for me! The service I received was excellent, Recoverfab emailed me back within a week of me sending my memory card to them, saying that they had recovered all 1112 photographs- with a sample of 100 of the photos!!! I was so pleased that they had managed to recover all of my precious memories and would recommend Recoverfab to anyone! They sent me a disc with all my photos on, I am so happy I came across Recoverfab and that they were able to help me so easily. A link to their website is here - http://recoverfab.com/ read more

Vielen Dank an recoverfab :-) read more

On april 13, 2013 at my grandson's 1st Holy Communion, my camera suddenly displayed: Devise not recognized-check memory card. The card is a PNY 8GB SDHC. It seems like others have had trouble with this same card. I tried the card in my computer, Costco's and Fred Meyer's photo centers with no luck. Costco advised I would have to get a professional (a specialist) to get help with the card. I read on the internet about good results using Recoverfab. After trying just one other so called solution with no results, I wrote to Recoverfab. The response was immediate with the details of getting the process started for the recovery of my photos. I did have some reservations about sending my card to Germany but got over it. I followed the instructions and sent the card to Recoverfab. Very soon I got the results that 1040 photos had been recovered. 100 photos were there to review, along with the cost for the recovery, a new sd card with the photos downloaded to it, postage. The cost for all of this is very reasonable. I would recommend Leopold Hiersche and his company-Recoverfab to anyone. It is probably not a good idea to use your memory device as a storage medium with out downloading occasionally. Rich. Anchorage, Alaska. read more

This is the second time I've used this company to recover data from my CF, micro or other camera cards that I use in my photography work. I am a professional photographer and take thousands of photos many of which are I print for my personal use and for customers. I use a separate camera card to store all the printable images. This particular card, all of sudden, became unreadable in my card reader and on the devices where I print the images. Because the card was not even recognized by the computers, recovery software could not be used. There were hundreds of post-produced photos of weddings and other important events on this card, that took an immeasurable amount of time refining and sizing for printing. To recreate these if a customer wanted additional images would not be worth the time and effort. This would not only be a financial loss for me, but would impact my reputation if I was not being able to respond to a customer's request. Recoverfab at http://recoverfab.com rescued these images from this dead CF card, not only in a timely manner, but at a cost that was reasonable under the circumstances. As I mentioned, "for the second time" Recoverfab saved the day. Thanks Recoverfab. read more

I have a corrupted memory card for many years and I have calling data/photo recovery companies, going to numerous photo reader machines , spoke to a lot of photo recovery specialist in person , via phone/emails, reading so many online reviews and trying a lot of software here in the US but no one has ever recovered my photos on my corrupted memory card. So I keep searching and reading reviews until I tried this company - http://recoverfab.com and so I send my "corrupted" memory card to the company and Mr. L. Hiersche did the recovery and walllllaaaaaaa!!!!!!! he did send me a password to check my photos on his website and I saw my long-never seen photos almost 10 years ago!!!! I never thought someone will ever recover my photos on my corrupted memory card, so If ever you think nobody would ever recover your photos on a memory card or tired of using of the so-called "recovery softwares" - I highly recommend to visit... www.recoverfab.com and let your memories seen again. The company has excellent customer service and Mr. L Hiersche do really reply your email's so fast- even as fast in minutes to hours. So visit his website and watch his recovery technique and you will be amazed. read more

Recoverfab is awesome! After a week long camping trip with friends, I went to upload the photos from my 4gb Promaster SD card. When I tried to insert it into the card reader the stupid thing bent in half! Because of the physical damage the card it was no longer recognized by my computer. I was devastated by the prospect of losing the 300+ photos from my trip. While scoring the internet for a solution, I saw Recoverfab mentioned multiple times and decided to give them a try. Best. Decision. Ever. I sent them an email describing my problem, and Leopold said he was confident my pictures could be recovered. Plus you only pay if your data is recovered. So I went ahead and sent the card in. Shipping it from Chicago only cost me about $20 and the card got to Recoverfab in about five days. Leopold emailed me to let me know the card had arrived. Less than three hours later I got another email saying he had been able to recover all of my 300+ photos! In three hours! Needless to say I am extremely impressed with this service and highly recommend it to anyone in need of data recovery services! read more
