    Menu: Fried rice dishes
    Marianne F.

First time trying Real Thai, never had it with the previous owners when it was K'Nyaw Thai. The time from ordering to getting my order was about 32 minutes waiting. One lady & her son were dining in the restaurant so everything is made fresh to order. 2 stand outs for me were the chicken wings and the sweet mango rice. My curry was a little too liquidy/watery, I wish it had a thicker/creamy texture to enjoy with the white rice I originally had crab fried rice on my list but my husband wanted to try the Tom Yum Fried rice, I think the flavor was overpowered by lemon grass... so maybe next time I'll be able to try the crab. My husband picked the real Thai red pork dish, and we were disappointed with the amount or portion given, it was a lot of rice underneath with little bits of meat. The pad Thai I ordered was chicken with shrimp added on for $3.00 which I got 3 pieces, :( $1.00 per shrimp is crazy but ok, I also asked for extra lime and bean sprouts but got one wedge of lime and little bean sprouts so maybe they forgot to didn't see that. Chicken wings had a good flavor. I would definitely order them again!! Sweet mango rice was delicious!! I would also order this again! Had a Thai brown tea, it was pretty sweet/milky, wish it was more potent in the Thai tea flavor.

Use tablet to order at your table

We tried three dishes and the food is pretty good here. It's decor is quite plain, and there was no music playing. But it's clean and comfortable. The server was nice, but you enter your own order into a tablet at your table, which is fine if you're into that. There are plenty of options on the menu, including all our favorite Thai dishes. And they brought our food to us in a timely manner. I like their pad kee mau (drunken noodles) especially! And their Thai green tea is definitely something I would order again. The green curry was good, but they added red chilies to it and it's a green curry. That's an odd choice. I mean, they do give you a choice of how hot you want each dish and on this one we choose "very hot," so I get them adding additional chilis, but I expected green jalapeño or similar for this dish. Still, it was tastey, and seemed more home made many other Thai restaurants serve. We'll order from here again, but maybe we'll order to go. We were the only customers at the time, and with no music there place was just awkwardly quiet for me.

Burnt Spring Rolls ,( were suppose to be egg rolls ) no sauce either

"I order from here 1-2 times a week and usually enjoy it, but this last order was really off. The rolls were burnt and were suppose to be egg rolls not spring rolls , sauces were missing, and the lemongrass chicken had none of the usual flavor. Pad Thai was also very greasy and only had a few shrimp. Hoping this was just an off night because I've had better from them before."

Stumbled across this hidden gem and I'm so glad we did!!! We came around 8pm and sat down and ordered on the I pad they have at the table. Very clean, nice and quiet place. Food was amazing can't wait to come back

They refused to let me in with my service animal, even though Texas law clearly protects the right for people with disabilities to have their trained service dogs with them in restaurants. When I tried to explain the law and show them proof (including the state statute), they wouldn't even take the time to read it or understand. Service animals are not pets. They're trained to assist people with disabilities, and denying access is against the law. It was humiliating to be turned away like that. I hope they will educate themselves on Texas Health and Safety Code Sec. 437.023 and the ADA requirements so that others don't have to go through this. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who needs or respects service animal access

Came here with some friends and the food was delicious. We were able to order at our table and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The spice level on the base fried rice was delicious and flavorful. The chicken wings, egg rolls and spring rolls were so tasty. The restaurant was clean and the food was reasonably priced. If I'm back in the area, I'll return.

I have been here twice and both take out. I had the Thai Kra-Pow with chicken. I don't think the amount of chicken I got justifies the $16 price. My container is not that big and 2/3 was jasmine rice. The chicken is very flavorful, but I did not get much of it so I will not order this dish again. The second time I ordered the Pad Thai Noodle and Basil fried rice both with chicken. I choose the spice level "HOT". I can tolerate spicy food very well and their "Hot" are spicy for me. I don't think I can take it if they are hotter than that. I really enjoy both dishes. They are very tasty. The prices for the potion are very reasonable. They were not busy both times I have been there, my food came out quickly and they were piping hot. It was kind of confusing for the first time for me. No one greeted me when I walked in and there was a lady at the counter, but she was on the phone. She walked away from me. I finally figured out how to place my order at the Big Screen Kiosk at the front entrance. Bastrop lacks authentic Asian food restaurants. Real Thai is very authentic and is a big plus for Bastrop.

Ridiculously good Thai food. Like we're driving to bastrop just to eat here. Can't recommend it more.

Tried DA's Thai Cuisine for pickup and had a little bit of a mixed experience…read more First things first -- the place itself is nice, clean, and the staff is personable. No complaints there. Ordering and pickup were smooth. Now let's talk food. The deep-fried egg rolls (stuffed with carrots, cabbage, and clear bean noodles, served with sweet and sour sauce) were really good. Crispy, hot, and flavorful. Solid start. The steamed dumplings? Now those were the star of the show. Made with pork, shrimp, crab meat, green onions, and carrots -- and served with their special sauce. That sauce paired perfectly with the dumplings. Balanced, flavorful, and just worked. Out of everything we ordered, this was the clear home run. I also ordered what I believed to be the Thai papaya salad. From what I can tell comparing ingredients, I did receive the Thai-style version (shredded papaya, garlic, fish sauce, tomatoes, lime juice, palm sugar, topped with peanuts). Unfortunately, I was not impressed. I've had papaya salad at other Thai spots where the peanuts are roasted and really incorporated into the dish. Here, it felt like the peanuts were just tossed in at the end. The overall flavor just didn't come together, and I wouldn't order that again. My husband had the Thai fried rice (his second time ordering it), and he thoroughly enjoys it -- so that's a win on his side. For me, out of the egg rolls, papaya salad, and steamed dumplings -- the dumplings were the only real standout. Would I go back? Probably not. But that's just my experience -- don't let me be the deciding factor. Give it a try and see what hits for you.

The food here is infinitely better than many of the area Thai restaurants. It's not a fancy place…read morebut the menu is extensive and the dishes are prepared well proportioned and priced well. We've gone now twice and found each visit consistent with each time.

Solid spot for Thai!…read more Everything was great -- textures and flavors on point. Loved that they had a selection of crispy pork belly dishes. Got the #48 (crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli). It was tasty as take-out and I'm sure it's even better on the spot. Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly. Also tried the crispy wings which were yummy as well. Finally, my husband's Pad Thai was excellent (perfectly flavored, with nicely crisped tofu). Noticed a lot of vegetarian options here, if that's your thing. Definitely recommend!

My husband and I come here whenever we can because he loves the pad Thai. I like the Tom Kha soup,…read morebut everything I've tried so far has been good. The food comes with some hot pepper powder, pickled jalapeños, and sambal sauce on the side if you ask for hot sauce. If you have a higher spice tolerance, you can ask for fresh Thai chili on the side instead! Our usual order is usually the pad Thai and garlic crispy pork with cilantro sauce! The crispy pork is crispy, but also soft once you hit the meat. It is a good choice for those who don't like only crispy skin, or only meat. It's the best of both worlds. The pad Thai is nicely moist without being too soggy. It's sticky at most. Once you mix it with the bean sprouts, it comes out perfect. I also recommend their Thai tea! I get one every time and it isn't overly creamy. The music is pretty loud if there aren't a lot of people in the restaurant, but it's not too bad. The service is always amazing since I believe the owners are always at the restaurant.
