I've done two cruises with this company - from Te Anau to Glade Wharf and then a cruise around Milford Sound. In both cases the crew displayed outmost professionalism in their focus on safety, information and amenities. The cruise is interesting, informative and comfortable. Commentary is very good. No matter the weather there's always something interesting to see an learn. On board the longer Milford Sound cruise, coffees and tea are available from the barista bar and the cabin lounges are very comfortable. This would have been an even better day trip if Mother Nature had cooperated. The problem was the fog and drizzle. I know this wasn't under the control of the boat company but our view of the fjord were truncated due to the persistent precipitation. It cleared up a bit on the return trip so we were able to see for longer distances but the full majesty of this glacier carved valley was denied us. The vessel was large so the boat didn't really rock, a good thing as I forgot to take Dramamine. The boat was probably about 3/4 full but most of the passengers took shelter in the cabin. We saw some waterfalls. We also saw a few fur seals but missed the penguins and dolphins. I don't know if it was the time of year or the weather. The payoff didn't seem worth it after being on the tour bus for such a long time. While I wouldn't call this a bust, it just gets a tepid OK from me. We booked the Milford Sound Nature Cruise from Queenstown. Loved it! Had a peaceful and beautiful ride on the coach bus with great guided narration from Brian on the way there with the coach bus having huge glass windows from the top and sides for views all around. Then the cruise out on the Milford Sound. This is a must see. Terrific views, waterfalls, and serene beauty. Take the flight back if you can! read more
