So when I was put in a tough spot in my career, I met with Danielle to get another perspective in what choices I should make and get a glimpse of what happened as a result of each choice. Danielle was super accommodating, willing to meet me anywhere, so we met at a restaurant and did a couple of readings before our food came. I was hoping to ask a couple of yes or no questions, but the questions need to be more broad and within a decent time frame - one month, 3 months, 6 months, etc... I went for the 6 month range and was pretty overwhelmed with the accuracy of the reading! I definitely yelled, "Witchcraft!" at some point because she was saying straight facts about my life. It was also insane because when I asked about my career, some of the same cards kept coming up that I didn't want (even though we shuffled the cards so many times!). And once I asked about personal questions, the career cards never appeared - it was like a whole freaking new deck. Anyways, I'm now trying to brainstorm a bunch of occasions to hire Danielle and read at because overall she was just a joy to be around. She tells it like it is, whether you like the news or not. As for the readings, my palm reading was incredibly accurate (she didn't ask leading questions and she wasn't so vague that I could read whatever I wanted into it). My tarot reading, a little more open to interpretation by nature, was also quite accurate. So much so that I walked away with a bit of a light-headed feeling. It was funny because the few parts that some girls felt weren't very accurate, the rest of us would shake our heads and say "no, no, that's pretty damn accurate." This woman is a rip off. My friend convinced me to go get a psychic reading, because she's into…read morethat, and I agreed. We searched for a place that would be open late on a Friday night and happened upon this storefront next to a deli and a few feet away from blue haven, on the corner of west houston street and Thompson street. I should've known by the way the space was decorated that the lady was a hoax. The window was empty and we walked in the space, which is just about 100 sq feet (if that). Two chairs, a small table, lots of fabric, crystal ball, etc. There was a door that led to further inside the space but it was closed and we could hear someone vacuuming and kids playing on the other side. I guess it's a live/work space? Anyways, we waited around and the psychic finally emerged from inside. We initially were thinking about doing a tarot reading but she said she would do a palm reading and a tarot reading for $40. This being my first time getting a reading done, I thought it would at least last 15 minutes. Boy was I wrong. 5 minutes tops of "reading" and another 5 minutes was spent trying to get me to buy some crystals to clear my energy or some crap like that. Afterwards, my friend and I compared notes (we weren't allowed to stay in the room for each other's readings as it might 'throw' her off and because very personal things would be revealed :eye roll:) and what do you know - she had told both of us the exact same things. Some things she said was coincidentally true for my friend but false for me (hey, 50/50 chance of being right, right?), other things were completely off the mark for the both of us. She said extremely vague things like, someone is jealous of your family (who can't think of one person we perceive to be jealous of our family) and that I wanted to move soon. Who doesn't want to move on up in the big city? Ugh. I am really mad at myself for wasting a lot of money on this lady! The thing is she is definitely making bank ($80 for a total of 20 minutes or less between the both of us). While leaving we saw her preying on drunk passerby's - I guess that's her main clientele. They see her in the outrageously cliched window and think it'll be great fun to get a reading since their logic is compromised by liquor. Silly me, I had no such excuse. Don't make the same mistake!

She calls it an "intuitive development circle" and that's what it felt like. We were gathered in her intimate space which smelled of white sage, which I love. After brief introductions we began. Betsy spoke to each one of us in the room, conveying messages from the spirits. It was a truly calming experience. I can't really place it, but it was great. The things she told me were on in regards to my health and I am still processing the messages she gave me from the spirits. I really hesitated to write this. I needed to process my experience from yesterday. I went into it…read morenervous, excited and open. I wish I went with my gut feeling I felt at the top and ended the session. Nothing resonated with me. Betsy is lovely but was all over the place and it was hard to follow and grab take aways. The thing that was off putting and I couldn't get out of my head during the session was the numerous times Betsy said "I've been doing this for 15 years." It was as if she was trying to prove her experience, convince me of her experience, get ahead of her own insecurities or something. It was weird. I wasn't looking for declarations but it was all too hypothetical - what was said could apply to anyone, didn't feel personal. And when I brought up my mother and grandfather, she talked about my patterns and makeup were genetics. My grandfather is not biological. So that sort made me think it was made up and/or not relatable to me. I'm disappointed - it was a lot of money wasted.
