We were told that you can play there for free. Our server was very attentive and fun. We had several wines that were very good. I especially liked the Uber Tuscan.

It was their Italian wines (Primitivo, Docetto, Quadriga, and Uber Tuscan) that first caught our attention. Absolutely delicious and immediately drinkable reds, though any could of course benefit from a little nap to round out even more. Maybe it's just me, but you really can pick up the hints of lavender in these big reds, which really speaks to the terroir of the Anderson Valley grape sourcing. We also loved their Bliss label of more cost-conscious yet equally delicious wines. Their rose really shines under this label and makes for superb hot sunny day drinking. Also, their sparkling rose and brut do NOT disappoint. Their tasting room in Hopland, while not as charming as the Philo garden and barn, is still inviting. They have a tasting available daily, with indoor as well as outdoor patio seating. You can apply tasting fees to any purchase you make. Don't miss Brutocao on your next trip along 101 to Northern California.

We walked in on Easter not sure what to expect- but stoked they were open - and it turned into a great experience. We got multiple tastings and ended up leaving with a few bottles. Tastings are cheaper than nearby wineries and the wine tender was awesome! She was friendly and knowledgeable and let us revisit wines. There's mini Hershey chocolates to snack on during the tasting and self serve water. You can also sit outside in the back to enjoy a glass and even order food from the restaurant. Solid quaint Hopland spot. Easy parking. Check it out!

So we decided to stop in again to see if our previous great experience would be continued. No worries - the gal helping us taste their wine selections of the day was courteous, kind and knowledgeable about the local wines. We found ourselves tasting wines we had never heard of before, and ended up buying 6 bottles to take home! Hopland is such a sleepy place and I understand there are a few good restaurants there as well. If you are on your way to Ukiah or Mendocino, do yourself a favor and stop in at SIP Wine Tasting Room. You will be glad you did!

But not to be as it appears that the secret is out and that this little known town up the 101 is hot Yelp review site. I wasn't born in Hopland, but was raised here from the time I was 3 till I left for college so my love for my hometown runs deep. It's not a true tourist magnet and this sleepy little town lacks some of the big city or more touristy spots offerings. No, there are no 5 star restaurants or resorts here. But what you will find is a town filled with some very nice locals who welcome you with open arms. The wine in the area is not "world class", but it's red and white enough to wet your whistle. My former elementary school closed it's doors a few years ago, but the buildings still stand and my fond memories forever remain. If you find yourself heading north (or south) on the 101, do yourself a favor and stop by my favorite small town in America. If you're hungry, you can pop into the Buebird Cafe for an old school breakfast.

(Side note, I didn't even know what that was until I visited Hopland. For your own edification, look it up!) The little downtown area is absolutely charming. Hopland has less than 800 residents according to wikipedia, but the locals told me it has less than 600. Now, I have been to quite a few small towns in my time. My dad is from a town of about 1,300 people. Hopland has less than half that and easily a million times more charm. (That's saying a lot considering there's a street in my dad's hometown that is named after my great-grandfather.) Everyone we met during our weekend excursion to Hopland was genuinely so nice to us. I think they are sincerely pleased as punch that anyone comes to visit. I can hardly wait to go back. Much love Hopland. Much love.
