This is the best barbershop I've ever been to. I have been going to this establishment for many years. My barber Mario was a great stylist but when he retired Norma took over. She is amazing! I'm sorry this has to be a bad review however my son was taken to this barbershop yesterday. He has been trying to grow his hair long for over a year. Whoever chopped up his hair disregarded that he wanted to keep the top long and only cut the sides. not only did he cut his hair too short but it's choppy and uneven on the sides. It looks like the barber used a pair of kitchen shears with his eyes closed. Children need to be respected at the barber shop. My son is too embarrassed to take a pic for you to see the disaster. read more

Came in with my boyfriend at around 9 am. He was getting a hair cut and I'm just tagging along. We did not have an appointment and just walked in. The place is well lit, looks clean, has a lot of chairs, very friendly staff. He got a chair right away and got his haircut by Edda. She did a nice job, he looks great . They had staff cleaning up as the hair dressers did their thing. There were 6 hair dresses working at 9 am. While I was waiting for him to finish one of the employees came by with really good Cuban coffee!! They also had fresh donuts available for customers. Can we take a second to appreciate this? Cus that's just awesome. That automatically makes me happy lol. The place was decorated for Christmas and had Christmas music and it was just really awesome. The whole thing put me in a great mood. All the employees did a great job in creating a nice, calm, friendly, happy atmosphere. We were going to get our hair cut in Hollywood before and have been looking for a new place. I'm definitely coming back when I need a hair cut. Everyone is so nice and friendly and makes you feel happy. I didn't even get my hair cut and I'm really liking this place. I'm pleasantly surprised by this little shop . As nice as the hair cut was (and it was great), the service was what put this place over the top. read more

Louis has been cutting my oldest son's hair for years and it looks absolutely excellent every single time! They are located right next to a Ross, TJMaxx, Panera Bread, Jivana Nail Shop etc, so you have things to keep you busy while your teen gets his hair cut. read more

Always a great time at Ray's. I see the complaints below, they must be competing businesses. They are fully stocked with men and women stylists. There is probably 12 chairs. They will do your nails while they cut your hair. They also have Cuban Coffee and Donuts. Been in business forever. read more

I have visited this barber shop four times. Four times they cut it too short and my hair looked choppy instead of smooth. I will not return. There are other barber shops nearby that cost four dollars more but its worth it. read more

I've been coming here since I first arrived in Miami 7 years ago. I have incredibly thick, straight, stiff hair, and I'm very picky about how I want it done. I like it shorn close on the sides and longish on top, so I can slick it back, but a nice blend between. If it's cut too short on top it just sticks up/out all over the place, but especially around my "cow licks". I've had many barbers jack it up, so once I find one that really listens and gets it right, I'm loyal. Louis is the man to see at Ray's Barber Shop, if you have difficult hair. The cool thing about this place though is that it's staff is 90% Cuban, so they know how to work with all kinds of hair - black, white and everything in between. Also they work with elderly people and teens, so they can do more conservative and modern styles. Oh, and it's only $17 for a man's cut. read more

Worst customer service ever! They don't greet you and they don't entertain you if you don't speak spanish! So rude.

Don't waste your time or money. My husband went today and was the first person in the shop. Fast forward one hour and several customers later, he was still waiting to be served. No one had the courtesy to greet him nor tell him that appointments take priority over walk-ins. Horrible customer service!!!! read more

I have the worst experience ever at this place. A female barber name Alicia, who should never being there ... She was a butcher ! Not a hair stylist !!! she make a hole on my hair ...it horrible and easily noticeable in the left side of my forehead Back to my story... when I notice the error She started giving me a stupid excuse: listen to this !!! " whatever had cut your hair before cut the part too short!! so I need to shave that off to fixed !!!that is ridiculous... to make that worst, she keeping repeating herself and asking me " now what you want me to do"! She repeat that 5 times, I swear I want to grab her neck and just choke The life out of her, but I am a civilized person ... so I told her to quit her job and she is so stupid she cannot even cut people's hair .... I have heard some good things about rays barbershop, but clearly I was the unlucky one. I went to get a hair cut on Monday for a job interview I had on Tuesday. There weren't any customers so one barber was glad to cut my hair. I should have known he was glad probably because he does not get much business. I asked for a simple haircut: a three on the sides and a little longer on top. The haircut started off okay, but I could see that the barber was struggling. He was trying to use a straight edge to line my neck and hairline, but struggled the whole time. When he realized he was failing, he would go back to an electric razor. Through this, he got shaving cream all over my hair and did a poor job with my neck. My square neck turned into a slanted mess. Anyway, he also struggled to blend my hair in, I felt like I might as well had a blind person cut my hair. To top it off, when he was done cutting my hair he didn't brush it or part my hair like I asked. So, I asked him to part my hair. For some reason, he grabbed an electric razor to line my part. I did not ask for it, but he seemed confident and I felt like my haircut couldn't get much worse and didn't stop him. I wish I had. He gave me a line as fat as my finger. Here is the picture. This place has some good barbers and some really bad ones. Appears to have a bit of staff turnover. I surmise the barbers rent their chairs. Also, no service when you enter...so unless you have an appointment you have to fight with other patrons to get the next barber. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. But if you are looking for no frills, old school barbershop with inconsistent quality and poor service when you enter but has good prices-roll the dice and go for it. I stopped going. read more

This is not the fancy salon you find everywhere. My recent cut was my second from Mayvis and I could not have been more pleased. I have gone to more expensive salons and have some personal relationships with them but I will stay with Mayvis as long as I live nearby and she does not leave. Honestly, after about 3 visits here I am done. For starters, forget about any customer service. This isn't about the customer always being right issue. This is about the employees here just plain being rude. They don't greet you, look at you, they ignore you once you pay, they don't say thank you. They just don't talk to you. Mostly because they don't speak English. For the price, it's tempting not to go elsewhere but you might as well fork up the money because they can't even do simple haircuts. All of those employees look so tired as if they are working 3 jobs of hard labor. Don't waste your time and don't give them any money. They don't deserve anything. This is the 2nd time my husband takes my 4 year old to get a haircut there, and only because it's 10 min from our house and they take walk-ins. The first time he got a haircut there, an employee there had just painted her nails and agreed to cut my son's hair moments later and did a horrendous job on him, I'm assuming bc she didn't want to mess up her nails. Today my son came home with better haircut from another barber there (not great) but nearly half his eyebrow was shaven off! The service here is above and beyond. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and they got my son within 5 minutes. They're definitely busy but there is no feeling of being rushed. They let me sit closer to him and offered me delicious coffee. Everyone is courteous and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I like how clean it is as well. It's like they have a ninja sweeping the hair away. The most important part is that my son's cut looks great and it's because Loly pays great attention to detail even though it's a simple cut. read more

Reading the reviews for this place, I feel in shock to know that a previous customer (William F) had the same experience as I had with the same barber whose name is Yosil. I walked in the barber shop, same owner pointed me down the alley and said "Yosil will take care of you". Yosil is the barber whose chair is right after "Guille's" chair. He was wearing his earbuds, so I started talking to him in english, but his upset face was like I was asking for some money for free from him, then I apologized to him about my accent and asked him if he could understand spanish, understanding he was cuban.......... His face was worst and his attitude hardly to describe, that was when I told him, if you remove your earbuds out, our communication might be better. To make this story short, HORRIBLE hair cut and worst experience ever. If I dare to go to this place back again, I will try with barber Pedro, which in my previous visit to this shop was the one who took care of my beard and had so very good customer service indeed. Dilapidated dingy place. I walked in and older gentleman greeted me. After I told him that I'm here for a haircut he pointed me down the alley of about 12 chairs and said something along the lines of "Yosil will take care of you", after which he immediately continued doing whatever he was doing. I stared into the abyss of barber chairs and wondered who is Yosil and where is his chair. Two barbers both wearing headphones sat in customer chairs and none of them even flinched as I started walking down the alley. I passed by complementary bottle of whiskey which some might find attractive. With a 50/50 chance of Yosil being the first guy I sat in the chair opposite to him and was gestured to keep walking. Now sure that Yosil is the other guy I sat in the chair opposite to the second guy. Turned out I was correct about the guy but wrong about the chair, the one to the right of it was actually his. Finally I'm in the right chair I got the right guy we are golden. "Yosil" comes up and takes one ear bud out of his ear and says "You tell me". This is starting to reminding me of a scene from "Hostel", should have had that shot of whiskey on the way in. I described the haircut I'm going for and Yosil with no comments or questions puts the earbud back in and in silence goes to work on my hair. I'm sitting and feeling guilty that my haircut is in the way of this guy's enjoyment of splendid choice of music on his phone. 15 minutes later I'm presented with mediocre haircut and walk out of this place. So if your standard for quality of the haircut, look of the place, customer service, or price is "whatever" that's the right place, the only plus is if your spouse is shopping in one of the stores on that plaza you might kill time by getting a haircut and get a shot of whiskey to boot. read more
