There were a few attorneys that came up with great ratings, but they didn't seem to be overly concerned with how my current matter was being handled. See I have an NJ attorney already but he only practiced in NJ and didn't have a license to practice in PA. So he wasn't familiar with PA laws and what options I had in Philadelphia. My ex and I both lived in Philadelphia for the past year and had a custody order based out of NJ that my ex filed a counter motion against. I needed someone to help me understand my rights with both PA and NJ. When I first called Mr. Kirby and explained my situation he stated that because I had a current attorney in NJ that he couldn't really discuss the case not because he wasn't allowed to but because of integrity and respect for his fellow attorney. This is the first I heard any attorney say to me. The rest were ready to have me fire my current attorney and take over the matter in which I wasn't comfortable with. That initial phone call made my decision for me because most attorneys are looking to get more money from you while he was giving me his honest feedback and your integrity is everything. I immediately scheduled an in person consultation with him. After meeting with Mr. Kirby, he completely put me at ease and regained my confidence back with my current case. My NJ attorney is great but because he didn't understand PA law it was difficult to understand my rights and what procedures needed to be followed. When Mr. Kirby got in touch with my NJ attorney they got along great and exchanged information regarding my case to prepare him for when he can have the matter moved over to PA. Since my ex's current attorney keeps requesting more motions and wasn't willing to come to a settlement on the matter this case has dragged on in NJ since September and won't be finalized (hopefully) till December. I pursued Sam to write a POA on behalf of my mom and I have to say Sam didn't just do a good job…read more He did an outstanding job. Upon my picking up the POA, he sat down with me and went over the key elements particularly the fill-out sections in stark detail. He even went through the trouble of attaching a 'sticky' by each field with a description of who was to sign or complete. In fact, I don't think I can recall any professional in any field going into that level of detail to ensure success of a transaction. My mom and I went to our bank to have the document notarized and the notary commented on how impressed he was with the document and the level of detail that went into ensuring it got notarized and processed correctly. I will add that Sam's demeanor is unlike any I've seen before. What I mean is that his explanations are so logical and straight to the point. In spite of my mom still reeling from the loss of her husband (and my dad), Sam explained the details of the POA to her in a calm, logical and professional manner that made it easy for her to understand and put her at ease. Will also add that he gave me a $100 discount off the POA cost, which if I recall correctly was to help cover what my company could not since the POA was for my mom and not for myself. Our landlord then had the audacity to sue us instead of letting us leave peacefully even though, according to Philadelphia law, we had every right to break our lease. This resulted in us, with the help of Mr. Copoulos, filing a counterclaim. Throughout the entire filing-continuance-time consuming performance that reporting to court ultimately becomes Mr. Copoulos was easy to communicate with and constantly kept us abreast of any and all changes. Come time for court, which actually ended up going to trial, Mr. Copoulos genuinely exceeded my expectations with his line of questioning and cross-examination of both myself and my landlord. It was a tough case and I actually thought my landlord's lawyer bested me a few times but Mr. Copoulos was able to call bullsh&t and we came out on top.
