Nonetheless, on the day of our excursion, we arrived 20 minutes early, still had to wait for our boat, then the employee still took another 40 min past our rental time to show us how to drive the boat, even after we explained that we already paid tons of money and passed the "course." They did not give us any extra rental time. After they allowed us to start our trip, they called us to turn back to the marina, where the manager proceeded to shout and yelled about how we were going too fast, even though we didn't create any wake in the water. The manager then started using racial slurs against us ( our group was composed of asian and caucasian passengers). Nearby was an Indian family who listened to the racial slurs in horror. My three young children were horrified by the outright verbal abuse publicly thrown at us. We considered pursuing legal action against the company. If I could give zero star, I would. Do not come here if you value dignity and respect from their employees or manager. I should've been suspicious when I saw that several other bad reviews were hidden in yelp....

Let me start off by saying that the bathroom at the marina is not like a typical marina . Despite the old man's coin slot I saw when I walked in, the bathroom is more than clean. Not as pricey as the more popular Gateway Marina, Tottenville Marina has a certain charm about it. With amazing views of the Outerbridge and the burned remains of some old factory, I felt like I was somewhere other than Staten Island. To top it off, the people there are really friendly and more than willing to help my two inexperienced friends learn the difference between the bow and the stern.

After getting completely wiped out after sandy like the other marinas, Atlantis was the only one open to full capacity with all new docks. If there's a problem,they fix it. They have a full staff of mechanics and detailers to take care of any problem you encounter to make sure you are in the water as much as possible during boating season. They have wifi on the docks, electric, water and a pleasant atmosphere. There's nothing more enjoyable then pulling up in the summer into my slip with the tiki bar and restaurant with live music playing in the summer.

The 5-person skiffs are the boats that do not require a boat license to operate. They have 12 regular skiffs ($100), and 5 skiffs w/ tops ($115). They open at 7am, but I would suggest getting there 30 minutes earlier and putting your name on the reservation list to ensure you get a boat. The skiffs are in pretty good condition, and they're not difficult to operate even if it's your first time. Life jackets and seating pads are provided with the rental. If you need fishing or crabbing equipment, you can get it at the store on site.
