Horrible experience. "Stylist" didn't listen at all- did what he wanted. On top of that was very rude whenever called discuss our dissatisfaction. Paid $50 for a guts 20 minute haircut and came home FULL of hair- couldn't even dust my son off before finishing. Owner refused to return call so they're not interested in good customer service. Never again. Never. I called my bank and stopped payment- wouldn't have done that if I was treated with redirecting called to share my concerns. Very poor unprofessional " barber" read more

Absolutely amazing place! Everyone was extremely accommodating, skilled and took their time. My son loves his hair!

Hands down the coolest Barber Lounge I have ever experienced. It's no wonder the seats are full of hip young men looking to take it up a notch. Will has a passion for art. You will feel like a masterpiece. The current Lounge is fun and inviting, but the new space promises to be spectacular. Thank you for the new look. We will be back soon. read more

I booked my husband for an impromptu appointment for a haircut here with JJ. Wow! What an amazing job he did! I'm buying him a gift certificate for Christmas to get a spa treatment next! Thanks guys! read more

I had gone to this place a couple of times about a year ago because they were always be able to squeeze me in last minute when other nearby places couldn't. The first time my barber was very attentive, the second time not nearly as much, which led me to go somewhere else that didn't charge a premium. A year later (yesterday), I forgot to book my cut at my normal place and thought I'd give this place another try. In the end, I went home to look in my mirror and see some royally uneven sideburns. For $36 for a standard cut (I don't ask for anything fancy) that can't get the basics down, I certainly won't come back again. The people are nice and they have nice wood floors - which keeps it to 2 stars. read more

Best barber shop in the area. Came here for the first time and they got me looking CLEAN. Definitely worth the price. You can tell they really take pride in what they do. read more

I been around for 80 yrs and this is the best place i have ever been at.Dont judge me by my age. I tell Giovanni what i want and thats what i get. Take a chance what a you got to loose it,ll grow back read more

My husband loves his trips to this place. Pricey but so worth it. Men need to pamper themselves too.

Glad to get a decent haircut that's not a crusty barber, or a woman's salon. I'd have to say that this place should qualify for hipster status. It's not a large place but has 4 chairs and is comfortable and bright and open. There were three dudes cutting hair and one woman, I got her. Turned out fine; a good haircut by a pro. $27 plus tip is what I was charged. Decent on street parking, not sure if you can park in the lot that's next to the building that this storefront barber is in. There is another barber adjacent to this barber, but I've never gone into that place. It looks a little dated. read more

I've been looking very hard for a good place to get a haircut since I moved to Connecticut a little while ago. This place is by far the best in either Hartford or New Haven. Reasonably priced and they do a really good job, especially if you want a more modern-looking haircut. I usually get my hair cut by Jamie. He does a really good job and he always make sure to get all the little strands of hair and the edges look perfect. Something you should know about that attention to detail is it takes a good minute to get it done. I would say plan for 45 minutes and if it's a busier day like on the weekends maybe plan a little bit more because the place gets busy. Seriously though, don't bother going anywhere else. read more

I had long hair for like 8 years and ever since i cut my hair im always extremely anxious to get a haircut. I always hate my hair cuts afterword for at least a week until it starts to grow back.. I forget the stylist name but he was the first barber on the right side of the shop. He was awesome. Loved the cut. Only complaint is pricing ($36) but what can i say, it was worth it. -Bryan read more

First experience today- easy parking / easy to book/was really happy with my cut! I'm super picky about my haircut. Will took a lot of time and care giving me the cut I want. And he has lots of pride in his work- the best part was the much needed straight edge razor as a finisher. I'll def be back. read more

Booked a first time appointment with JJ and had one of the best cuts I've had. I live on the West Coast and in the area on business. JJ took the time to give me a great cut and is very good at his craft. Mos def returning when I come back to town. read more

Beware of barbers wearing hats....especially hats worn backwards or sideways on their heads. This is by far the worst haircut I have ever had in my entire life. I give them 1 star because "zero" is not an option. If you like a "Hitler haircut" ; with white walls and a chopped, cropped top, then this is the place for you! They should give you a complementary brown shirt when you leave this place; but I don't expect any of these so call barbers to have any idea what I am referring to. Gel is a must, if you don't plan on wearing a hat to cover their handiwork. This place is a joke, pass it by an opt for supercuts; they can't do any worse than these guys. Ben read more

Best haircut I've ever received, Jaime did an awesome job and everyone there was a true professional. Highly recommend

We are in town for a wedding and my husband needed his beard trimmed and shaped. We called to schedule an appointment and apparently scheduled the wrong thing. Even though it was a Saturday and they were extremely busy, Jamie still took the time to fit us in. I normally don't like to stay with my husband while he gets his hair/beard cut but I did not mind waiting here. The environment was very relaxed and everyone was extremely friendly. I wished we lived closer so that my husband could come here all the time. I normally hate his beard but after Jamie finished shaping it and cleaning it up, I absolutely love it! read more

Went as a walk in, observed nothing special. Finally was asked if i had an appointment after 30 minutes and the result was I should have cut my hair and beard myself. read more

Jaime gave me an awesome haircut. I went in with some pix of what I wanted, and he consulted with me to determine the best looking cut. He went above and beyond by adding some excellent texture to make my hair look thicker. He did a great job with my beard too. P.S. My hair is much different than in my profile pic, so don't judge based on that. read more

I walked in and was assigned to JJ, whom I showed a picture of exactly what I wanted, on ME (which I thought would be foolproof). Nothing fancy, just a standard mid-length cut, long enough on top to do some wavy stuff with, trimmer on the sides but long enough to grow in blended with the top. It concerned me first that JJ stuck combs in either side of my hair, so that he was cutting in thirds - sides and top. I figured that was part of the process but the final product was, indeed, a tall top and buzzed sides. Very Pinhead Larry. Once he showed me the first draft, which was a lot more "helmet" than I anticipated, I said that perhaps we could go down one level of length "on the bottom" of the sides - gestured with my hand and everything. But no, he hacked off the entire side, all the way to a right angle at the top. Nobody's ever seen this much of the skin on my head before! Not to mention that he insisted on washing my hair halfway through (I guess that's part of what they're charging for), wasted another 10 minutes with a straight razor on the FRONT of my hairline (at the corners), to get rid of 3 or 4 hairs and make it a straight line...??? The natural hairline is already starting to come back in and looks pretty silly. None of this done after asking, of course, just slathered me with shave gel with no warning, and responding to my surprise with "it's a barbershop, man." I'm a necktie and tortoise-shell glasses kind of guy...this doesn't fit. The worst part was that this was all done with me facing away from the mirror. I'm sure that JJ is good at what he does, and he definitely takes the time to do it (easily an hour for this haircut), but the problem is that what he does is not what I asked him to do. All I wanted was a shorter version of what I already had, as in the picture, but JJ had different ideas. "Like a new pair of shoes," he said, but I didn't ask for a new pair of shoes. Now I'm Pinhead Larry, and I paid 3 times what I usually do to become Pinhead in 3 times the time. read more

Owner is unprofessional , and overpriced. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Fading skills are moderate if that. Nothing I haven't seen before.

Best barber ever! Hands down. I personally got a cut from will, and honestly I never seen someone take more pride in a persons hair like him. It's like the man thought he was cutting his own hair lol. It's Defently a good thing tho. He wouldn't let me out of his chair until my hair was absolutely perfect, and from what I see that's what they go for every time perfection.. read more

Alright haircut, but way overpriced. Good if you're trying out for the cast of jersey shore.

New to the area and luckily found these guys on yelp. I was with a group of friends randomly a week later from Middletown and found out even they travel down to get a cut! We are talking 45min or more doing the job right. Great atmosphere, great barbers. Easy booking online. read more

Raphael's is the best barbershop that I've visited in CT and I've lived all over. It has a great atmosphere, good music on, and the four barbers working there and very engaging and create a very loose and comfortable setting for the customers. I've been a customer with them for just over a year, my first time was during their second weekend being open. I received a good recommendation about Will, the shops owner, and I decided to make an appointment. We met and he went through my hair and pointed out some mistakes in my prior cut and we came up with a plan to bring it where I wanted it to be. He explained what he was going to do and what he wanted to do the next time to make sure that we stay on plan. I've never had a poor experience. Will always makes sure the only way you leave his chair is when you are satisfied with the haircut. The price for the services is very fair and the barbers take extra care to make sure that your investment with them is taken very seriously. I highly recommend Raphael's to anyone that is looking to try a new barber. read more
