While having a pleasant evening walk in the vieux Lyon we pulled up Yelp and looked for a nearby Indian. We ended up at royal Indian and had a pleasant surprise. Despite fact that they ran out of the meat samosas the main dish was delicious and truly spicy ( read the French don't eat spicy so it's rare to find) . it was quiet busy and there was only one staff person serving but she was extremely friendly..... It cost 25,50€, not bad for a complete meal for two delivered to our door. The Matar was quite good, albeit not very spicy (I'm so used to the American style of "how spicy would you like it?" being asked with every order of Indian cuisine.) The nan was warm and a little fluffy and the rice was tasty and multi-colored: orange, green, and white! Was it the best Indian food I've ever had? No. Was it tasty enough that I would order it again. Yes. Maybe next time I'll even try it fresh at the restaurant! (We'll see.)

Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a friendly place with amazing food. I was traveling from out of the country and ended up getting to this place when the kitchen was closed. The owner and his wife were so kind and offered me lassi on the House. When I couldn't find any other restaurant that was open at this time, they offered to see what was still available and were even kind enough to take time to help me get a taxi back to my hotel.

Not amazing but good value for money. I would not eat in the restaurant itself (fast food ambiance) but back home on a cold Sunday evening, it's perfectly acceptable.
