I tried this agency and was assisted by the staffing manager Brett Stockstill..THE WORST. If you get assisted by him be prepared for a lot of miscommunication and someone who isn't truly trying to help you find work that best suits you but make their commission of filling jobs. He is more interested in filling the position vs making sure the position is a good fit for you. I took the position with Veritiv All American Containers thinking I would be accepting a receptionist position but it turned out to be a position where I filed all day everyday to the point my back started hurting. The company had me filing from a desk chair on low file cabinets and when I inquired about a stool I was offered by the company lead Sandy that could be purchased she had to backpedal because the manager, Brett Pierson first said budgeting issues then said because I was a temp.When I asked the manager Brett Pierson myself he acted as though he didn't say he wouldn't approve the stool. Of course Brett Stockstill with Randstad, trying to keep the position filled for the agency purchased a stool ignoring my requests of being removed from the assignment. After the situation with the company not fulfilling a reasonable accommodation for me without the help of the agency I really became uninterested in the work and the company. The manager of the company, Brett Pierson was extremely on a high horse and bothered me everytime I used my heater with unwanted passive aggressive comments. I was initially told I could use a heater with the other staff as long as I purchased my own. He became harassing and aggressive when he would come in to work and I would be using my heater to the point they created a time schedule when staff could use their space heaters to satisfy when he was hot or cold. My desk of course was stationed under a vent that constantly had cold air coming down on me and when I brought attention to the vent and how first a schedule was created and then I was forced to turn off my heater with the manager practically talking to me like a child in a unprofessional manner I was the problematic person. When I spoke to the other temp who recently became permanent he told me he had the same issues with the manager until he moved desks which was out of the managers door view of him bothering. Other staff also complained stating he was a new manager not the best on managing properly and in time I would adjust to his behavior but the environment for me was uncomfortable. When I brought the situation again to Brett Stockstill he stalled when I asked to remove me once again making it my 3rd time requesting to be removed. He waited until I finished my shift to tell me the assignment was terminated by the company which was absurd being I was resigning from the assignment and called him that entire day asking him to remove me vs me walking out. When I spoke to him he gave me excuses of he misunderstood and that he even failed to mention to the company when they called terminating the assignment that I, the employee was no longer interested and had been requesting removal and it was already taken care of. In my opinion, he should've made that call to the company when I let him know I was no longer interested and removed me immediately but instead he stalled and avoided my calls. It became a hassle getting my personal belongings and still didn't get all of my belongings though small belongings. I do not suggest working with Randstad especially BRETT STOCKSTILL and wouldn't recommend working with VERTIV ALL AMERICAN CONTAINERS either unless they get a manager other than BRETT PIERSON. I left this position super frustrated as I did a lot of busy work and the position advertised otherwise when I ended up mainly filing because they were years behind and labeled every blue moon. I even later found out from another employee the side projects of cleaning and busy work were assigned to the Lead Sandy who was passing it to me though it was my work load. I also must mention my car got hit twice in their company parking lot from their big rig trucks coming/going for shipments. I asked another employee about it and he was well aware and said it happens and had happened before. read more

Stay away from this company, they are dishonest. I was told an offer was in process, only to find out they pushed another candidate ahead of me. No offer came. Earlier on in the process, they told me to schedule a meeting to visit the customer. I did, and when I arrived, the people I was visiting thought I took another job. I should've checked the reviews on this staffing agency before agreeing to an interview here. Spring Semester just ended and I'm looking to get a job over the summer before Fall Semester begins, and normally, I don't like working with temp agencies because I feel like they waste a lot of a job seekers time, nonetheless, I have had successful temp agencies, but I have to say, this one falls short. I've heard a lot of great things about Randstad which is why I did hesitate working with them, but decided it would maybe be a good option considering the positive things I've "heard." Maybe it was just THIS office like Jason P. said? Temp agencies have to consider that just because we are "job seekers" does not give them the right to treat us like "we" need "them." They need us, because without job seekers, they don't have a business, and like their clients, we're their customers too. I felt like my time was completely wasted coming here, for a mere 90 seconds. I forgot my social security card and was still denied an interview despite having a copy in my e-mail, because she needed the 'physical form' of the social security card. Why couldn't my name on my ID (DL) be verified? I don't know, but she made no efforts, no attitude, and no attempt to try to welcome me to Randstad, to discuss job opportunities, or to even discuss options. It was simple... oh you forgot your social security card? well.. you're going to have to make another appointment to come back with it. Just like that, after 90 seconds, I was "indirectly" shoved to the door. No interview, no request for my resume, not even to talk about Randstad opportunities and my resume AND THEN request me to come back with my social security card.. nada. I had a recruiter contact me about a possible position within their own company as an entry level recruiter. I thought that would be great because I enjoy helping businesses improve their ROI and I enjoy helping people. It's like the best of both worlds! The recruiter asked me to modify my resume specifically for the position so he could pass it along to the AVP. I tailored my resume per his specifications and he then setup a time for a Skype interview a couple of days out. The AVP called me and said that her reception was bad so Skype wasn't working and she asked if it would be okay if we just did a phone interview. I said that is fine. During the interview she asked me why I left my last employer... I responded with the "TRUTH" "The owner laid me off because there was not enough work and the business was about to fold up shop". The interview seemed to great and at the end the AVP asked if I had any questions. One of my questions was. "Is there any at home work or after business hours work"? She said,"NO". I then told her that I have been looking into becoming a recruiter for about the last 3 years or so and think I would do a great job and make a great career out of it. To my surprise she agreed and said, "I think you would do great at this position". Now, 5 days later I had to contact the recruiter to see what was going on. this is what I received: Hi Josh, Thanks for taking the time out to share your experience with me. At this point we are going to pursue other candidates, but I will reach out to you if something changes. Great success to you until our paths cross again! Best Regards I then sent this: Hello Al, WOW! I do NOT understand. She even said, "I believe you would do great in this position, as well". Thanks for waiting until I contacted you to notify me. I was with Randstad for quite some time, about 6 years. Left them and found a permanent position. The staff changed quite often when I was with them. First, I would like to thank them for the employment. However, going back to the staff - I did not want to continue representing them. I found that the staff there are fake. After my second year with them, they barely kept contact with me. When I would contact via email, I would not get a response. Then, I decide to call, to only be greeted with an attitude. I referred family and friends throughout my time with them. A couple decided to go ahead with Randstad to only experience the same thing. My other friends and family members decided to go elsewhere because Randstad was unprofessional, rude, gossip group of females, would do make up at desk, and to talk about another coworker. Also, a friend of mine who ran his own company thought the woman were not thinking about the best interest of the contractor. He wanted to meet the staff and hire contractors for his companies and opted out. Learning this information was not only upsetting, but embarrassing. Rated two stars for the opportunities to meet new people and job placement. I didn't have to work since my husband was a physician, but he understood that I wanted to do this for myself. As others here have stated, don't consider an opportunity with being on Randstad's temp list. I've been with them since July and, while initially professional, today they behaved in a fashion that to me is counterproductive. So I get a call from Danielle Gephardt (sp?) about a position in San Ramon that pays $14/hr (call center) that would require me to submit Excel 2007 and Word 2007 exams at the San Ramon branch (that one's closer). While I could take it at home, their client demands an in branch examination. She sets up an appointment for me and I thank her. I then contact Marielle Yazzolino over in San Ramon to ask if it's possible to take the exams at home since I'd likely get better scores (not to say I'd utterly bomb an in branch test) that would probably lead to higher paying jobs and pass up this opportunity. She advised me to take it in branch since denying a position would keep me unemployed a little longer and thus make it more difficult. That lead me to rethink it over and agree she was accurate so I concurred with taking the exam in San Ramon on the scheduled date. It was also clear to anyone that my tone indicated pleasure and a commitment, albeit maybe not top botch but still committed. Danielle contacts me back, stating the appointment was canceled since "she did not feel as if I was committed". I simply stated to her that I wanted to explore other options and keep all avenues open but in the end AGREED to take the test at the branch (verbally). This apparently did not register with her. I reach Marielle, who took Danielle's side, despite the fact I made it emphatically clear that exploring all areas, which isn't out of the ordinary in today's market (or for temp employees), does not indicate a lack of interest in an available opportunity. After calling me "manipulative", I just hung up the phone. Now while I admit to tap dancing somewhat as well as semi being wishy washy, that's not however an implication (which would be evident to virtually anyone) of getting out of a present opening, nor does it highly diminish commitment. It's not to say I hold a grudge against Marielle and Danielle. They just go their way and I go mine but I do wish they could read people better and understand that's it not unusual in today's market to avail themselves at all doors, which likely constitutes 95% of their temp "talent". For anyone who receives grand feedback from Randstad, good for you. I just wish I was one of those individuals. EDITED TO ADD: The Hayward office is MUCH better. I'll continue through them and avoid San Ramon as well as Pleasanton. Another thing. I learned from a co-worker through Randstad at an assignment a couple weeks ago that he had issues with Danielle Gephardt (sp?), too. She once sent this co-worker friend to an assignment but, when he got there, he found out that Danielle actually sent a friend of hers instead and without notifying him. He brought up as well how rude she was every time she would answer the phone during his calls. I found out that she's no longer at Randstad. In all likelihood, many people (including me) complained about her so the higher ups gave that proverbial pink slip (or she wouldn't iron out deals with clients with her unyielding, cold attitude, thus lacking in productivity. I understand the business and they have appointments to meet and paperwork to push. but they have to remember that a good chunk of their work is Customer Service and calling back people who continuously call and leave messages. make sure when you submit your resume to make a follow-up call to confirm they received it or you'll get lost in the shuffle read more

I was called by a representative who said they had a 3 week position for me in Pleasanton. I jumped at the chance and was placed at CBRE. Once there, I was trained over the course of two days by the person leaving the position. Only problem is, the Company didn't have any passwords or programs ready for me to work, so I had to work off the trainers passwords on a loaner lap top. Once she left and I still didn't have passwords and I couldn't do any work. I notified the Agency and they told me to sit tight. Sit tight? I sat at a desk for 5 hours waiting to get access to programs so I could work and, never got them. I advised the recruiter that I was not going to continue at this position with nothing to do and the recruiter blamed me for not wanting to continue even though they did not have their s***t together. I would not return to an Agency who does not stand by their employees when a Company is unable to supply work for the person that is working for them. read more

One of their recruiters (Tabatha Smith) contacted me and read/ thought that I'm bilingual in Spanish. She then told me that I should remove my Spanish proficiency from my resume since I'm not fluent on it. I told her, it wasn't my mistake that she didn't read the part that said- Limited working proficiency. Not sure how some people are recruiters now a days. But seems like any person, intelligent or not, can do it. I hope that this company, whoever's in charge will prescreen their recruiters to be detailed oriented, please instead of them just rushing through and trying to fill ANY position just to get paid. read more

I just signed up and the Pleasanton office and although I haven't started working yet, so far so good. My coordinator Kasey is great. Very down to earth and straightforward, and he seems to be genuinely concerned with my best interests and not just commission/bonuses (like some other staffing agencies.) The other recruiters I met were friendly as well, and they all seemed to be enthusiastic about their jobs. I would like to hear about higher paying gigs, however as I said I just signed on so it is too early to tell. Well it looks like I managed to jump right out of the boiling water into the frying pan.This time it was with the Ranstad Office in Pleasanton,CA.I committed myself to an assignment at Iron Mountain.I enjoyed the work of Doc prep but oh that slave driver production quota was just too much.After the training period two people from my group were let go.I guess I got lucky because I was doing four boxes of docs a day.Anyone that did under three boxes was thrown to the wolves.Finally I was told my goal was five boxes a day.Now Iron Mountain was crazy enough to expect newbies to be able to pick up speed an enormous amount of speed in such a short period.You would have to be a machine to meet that production quota in an eight hour period.If you are a scanner the quota is 2000 and something pages an hour.I lasted at the job for a month then I received my ticket out the door when I couldn't meet the quota.Let me warn you Iron Mountain has a very high temp turn over.Iron Mountain gets rid of temps at record speed while those Randstad keep sending more temps to the site.Now the funny thing about it is Randstad is sending more temps that are slower than the last ones Iron Mountain let go.Warning don't go to Iron Mountain unless you are prepared for some slave driver Quotas.If you are a Prepper you will encounter big boxes of Docs that can take over an hour to do.I don't think the recruiters at Randstad are aware of what the production Quota entails.I talked to Serrina and told her about the production quota.She thanked me for the feedback.She said they would look into it.I begged Serrina to drop that nightmare Client. read more

This branch is a joke! I have worked with other staffing agencies in the past and never have I encountered more inept, unqualified recruiters as I have here. First off, the registration process is long and requires too much confidential information up front which I was not comfortable providing. Next I was asked to take some microsoft tests, which I don't mind, but when I asked about getting additional training to brush up on my skills, I was told they don't provide that. Are you kidding???? I thought almost all placements companies provided some online training to help people get up to speed on their computer skills. After filling out the documents online, I called to schedule an appointment to meet with a Recruiter and was told that if a job came up that fits my background, they would just bring me in then!!!! Overall, a very 'shoddy' company who obviously doesn't care to even take the time to meet with candidates. It made me feel like they are too lazy to interview and got the whole "Don't call us, we'll call you" mentality. I ended up going to Officeteam and was not only impressed with the knowledgeable and professional staff, they took the time to ask me what type of job I was looking for and in which industries. They immediately sent me to an interview for an Admin position in Pleasanton and am hoping to start working soon! read more
