If you're heading to the Puerto Vallarta area and want to do some horseback riding on the beach, head to Sayulita and the Rancho Mi Chaparrita will not disappoint. When my wife first said she wanted to "ride horses galloping through the surf" I was skeptical we would be able to find a place, as I assumed beaches just don't allow horses. We'll in Sayulita the horses can traverse trails to get to quiet secluded beaches that allow you to run your horses through the water and waves! Our guide was careful while not being overly restrictive, and the horse never bucked or tried to head back to the ranch. The only minor problem was keeping them from eating along the trail. Overall, for $119 per person because of the quality of the horses, trails, and ability to ride through the waves this was a great value. Highly recommended. read more

We had a beautiful honeymoon trip in Sayulita in part thanks to the two tours we had with this company!! We went fishing with our Captain Antonio and our guide Carlos and had the best time catching lots of fish!! When we were done we went to the restaurant Mi Chula where they fried up one of the bacalao we had just caught and made some ceviche with some red snapper we got! Our family just went to Rancho Mi Chaparrita - once for horseback riding and the other for ATV riding! We had an amazing time on both adventures! Safety is a priority for the staff and they do a great job. The horses are very well- trained so beginners and experienced riders can enjoy a beautiful trail ride through the jungle and to the beach. The ATV trail ride was also exciting, and the views were the best on our entire trip! Our guide for both horseback and ATV riding was Ricky who did an amazing job and with the rest of the staff (Lorenzo, Mitch and Danny) made the experience so much fun and safe! The Ranch is also a great place to relax after and get some food at the restaurant where you can also do some tequilla tasting! We highly recommend it and will be back!! read more

In addition, the views throughout the ride were amazing. They had a photographer follow us to take great pictures. We also did a free tequila tasting. Which was very insightful to learn about how agave tequila is properly made. They have some very good tequila. They also have ATVs and Ziplining. But we did not do that. I really enjoyed the ATV rides! Our tour guides Ricky,Danny and Pony were kind, funny and they always made sure we were comfortable and safe at all times! Danny was leading the way and giving us instructions. Ricky was making sure we were safe and are doing the right things. And Pony was an amazing photographer! We rode into Playa de Los Muertos in Sayulita where we were able to enjoy the view of its beautiful beach. We also stopped at Cerro del Mono where Pony took amazing family pictures while we enjoyed the beautiful view! I would definitely recommend going ATV riding at Mi Rancho Chaparrita! Went ziplining and did horseback riding in the same day! Both were equally amazing! Definitely one of the best things to do in Sayulita! Everyone working there was awesome including Carlos with the horse riding tours, the whole ziplining crew (super funny and nice made it really fun), all the photographers on the excursions, and last but not least "the drunk guy" giving out the best tequila tasting! Everything was very fun and the photos came out great! Definitely recommend doing the 2 hour horse riding tour if you don't mind your butt being a bit sore after because it was really cool to ride past los muertos beach and through downtown Sayulita (you'll feel like a rockstar). The horseback riding/tequila tasting excursion is one of the best things to do in Sayulita! I highly recommend it. Right from the start, it's a memorable adventure! A truck picked us up in town where we'd bought the ticket, and we rode in the truck bed with four other tourists like we were going on safari or something. Arriving at the ranch, we met Carlos our guide. He introduced us to our horses (mine was originally introduced as "widow-maker" but I was mostly relieved to learn his real name is Violin) and we took off on an incredibly scenic ride, first through the jungle (which Carlos called, aptly, "Jurassic Park") and then onto the beach, which the basic among you will recognize as a filming location for Bachelor in Paradise. Throughout all if it, our photographer chased us on a dirt bike, riding ahead to get photos of everyone at lots of different locations. I enjoyed this because A) that job looks fun and I was living vicariously through the photographer, and B) I felt like we had paparazzi. The photos cost extra, but you can get them via a airdrop right on the spot, they turned out great, and I think they're worth the extra money. Upon return, we wrapped up the adventure with a tequila tasting! They served great stuff and my wife and I would have bought some bottles, but we didn't have a checked bag to get it back to the States. We had our best day in Sayulita taking the jungle and beach trail ride. The ranch is gorgeously maintained and the animals so well cared for. While at the ranch we saw pigs and piglets, chickens and new baby chicks as well as our gentle horses. With almost no riding experience we felt completely safe and enjoyed every moment of the ride. We chose the "short" ride as we knew with so little experience that would be the best. Our guide Carlos was wonderful, so kind, speaking great English, and pointing out sights along the way. Michel, the photographer, went along taking nearly 100 photos and videos capturing this special day. The pictures were all gorgeous and the price to purchase them all was totally reasonable and well worth it. We were able to instantly download them all to an iPhone with airdrop and immediately begin sharing with our friends and family. Our trail ride included both the tropical jungle and a large beautiful secluded sandy beach. The tour ended with a very fun and educational tequila tasting. Recently spent the day here with the kids zip lining and horseback riding. Chino, nico, Carlos, and the crew were amazing. Felt totally safe with the kids and they did a great job of keeping it light. Took the to explain some of the local culture and point out the amazing vistas along the way. Spent the week in punta Mita with dining, swimming, snorkeling, pool, and much more and this Is what the kids remembered most! We booked horseback riding last minute in town the night before and the whole trip exceeded our expectations! Myself and a friend ended up being the only ones on the morning tour and we made our way through the jungle to a secluded beach that was breathtaking. Our guide was great and the pictures turned out really well. We went back to the ranch after and enjoyed the pool and some of the best margaritas on our trip, did our tequila tasting and headed out. My friend and I went on the hour and 20 minute horse back riding tour with CARLOS. We decided to do this last minute, just walking into one of their storefronts in sayulita and asking what they had available. They were very accommodating and had several options even half way through the day. A car picked us up 20 minutes later and we were on our way! Soon we were on horses with a group of 6 total plus our amazing guide, Carlos. We walked alongside the road for 15 minutes or so until we started crossing through the jungle eventually ending up on a beach. The horses were very healthy and easy going. None of us had much experience riding horses but we were very comfortable and felt in control with their horses. When we got back to the stables we got a full complimentary tequila tasting! We enjoyed horseback riding at an affordable price and a ride to the location from a place near our hotel. Our guides were knowledgeable and kind and our whole family really enjoyed the experience despite the fact that most of us had never ridden before. We've been to Mi Chaparrita two separate times with different friends and family and we had great experiences both times. The first time was with my 70 year old Dad and other family members and they were so kind, funny and attentive. The second time we stayed in San Poncho and went into Sayulita with friends so they could zip line (during the pandemic) and it was just as great. They all wore masks and were still super safe and silly. Chino (dos) was awesome as well as the other guys (gah, can't remember their names!). The jungle ride down to the beach was beautiful and then galloping along in the waves on the black-sand beaches was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I can't recommend this place enough. I also felt that the horses were very well cared for. The friend that I went with and I are both riders, so that was important to us. This isn't just an adventure company with horses. Our guide explained that it started as a stables and grew into other things. They even have a breeding program and the foals were so cute! Also, shout out to our photographer.
