If you are feeling adventurous a ride from Guajome Park to the Adobe with your horse might just be for you! There are some fun trials up the hillsides. There is much less foot and bicycle traffic over there also.

There is a lot of exploring to do at this park besides taking a tour of the Adobe. But I highly recommend spending the $3 for adults - $1 for kids and taking an hour to walk through this historical building. On the weekends there are guiding tours at specified times, but you can always do a self guided tour and go at your own place. They give you a binder and you can take your time through the breezy corridors and absorb the history. We were the only ones there on a Sunday and we had run of the house. I thought this was a better learning experience than the Santa Barbara Mission. There are walking trails behind the Adobe, so come ready to stretch your legs a bit. - Nice bathrooms all things considered.. - Across the street from the North Coast Church.

Very cool historic spot to see if you're in the vista area. Walked around the adobe with my 4 year old and it was fun and a little creepy! Lots of rooms beautifully preserved from the 1850's and everything was very well kept. Nice spot in the front for a picnic and very clean bathrooms!

What wonderful surprise! I had no idea this Adobe House and Park existed until a friend pointed it out to me. The house was built in 1852-53 with later additions and alterations, and is 7,000sq ft. large, with a beautiful courtyard and 28 rooms. Almost all the rooms are open to the public and many have period furnishings and decorations. Admission is only $3 and there is plenty of parking. One of the park rangers gave me a three page guide with a brief description for each room. On the back is a very useful floor plan of the adobe. For photography (which is what I like to do) this place is excellent. I spent over two hours photographing the inside and outside together with twenty members of my photo group. The place is so large that we rarely got into each others shots. I highly recommend this little known jewel.

The adobe is an amazing piece of California's history that needs to be remembered and never forgotten. The San Diego parks department has meticulously restored the hacienda to what it would have looked in its heyday using family belongings and period pieces. Visitor's can explore living quarters, a classroom, kitchens, and a host of other areas. Preserved in such detail that if you listen closely, you may catch the creaking of floorboards of holiday guests, or laughter carried in by a breeze of children playing around the old pepper tree in the outer courtyard.

This county park is the perfect wedding venue for people looking to have a magical wedding without spending a fortune. I paid $1010 from 8am-7:30pm for the Victorian Garden which has a capacity of 250 people. It has a dancefloor and a beautiful arch...the bathrooms are extremely clean and the staff is really nice. The only downside is that they never answer the phone, you always have to leave a message but they will get back to you by the end of the day. Parking is included in the fee and there is plenty of it. Perfect place to have a wedding... :) great memories and beautiful pictures.

We come up here once a year the Saturday after Thanksgiving for the Christmas at the Adobe event that the park rangers and volunteers put on For $5 adults and $3 kids it's a great event. You can tour the rooms, there are beautiful dancers, arts and crafts tables (Gods Eyes, candle dipping, corn husk dolls) for the kids and you can watch a blacksmith, word carvers and lace makers. You can sit in the chapel and see lovely wreaths that the docents make from the local flowers. Caramel apples and popcorn are free as is parking. The gift shop has some nice things and books about the adobe and old San Diego history. We love coming here to kick off our holiday season!

I didn't actually get to go into the facility or deal with any of the staff directly, except for one ranger who was simply sweet and very considerate. During the pandemic, I had my maternity photos taken and my friend and photographer called ahead to make sure it was ok that we walk the grounds. The photos were amazing, this place is absolutely beautiful and very well taken care of. I can't wait to return for baby pics and maybe considerate this spot for a future wedding!!! We're in love with this location and it's only 55 minutes from our home. The ranger was pulling up during one of the poses and literally stopped her cart for us to finish and not kick up dirt and then came to remind us before the parking lot closed at 5. I wish I caught her name. This was a Saturday at 4:30-5 pm and she was a pretty brunette so maybe management can thank her for treating people so kindly! Anyways, LOVED this beautiful venue. I didn't think I'd get photos of my first pregnancy during a pandemic but they happened and I'm so so appreciative.

All of us at Spotlight Studios enjoy the old-fashioned, classic feel of this venue, from the lush greens of the trees that creates a beautiful backdrop for any event, to the building and relics from a simple time. Our photographers just love create amazing images, and wanted to let Rancho Guajome Adobe to know that we adore shooting photos of events here. Five stars for the beauty and class of this historic landmark! Thank you!

It helps to personalize all that is taught in classrooms across California. Mission San Luis Rey is one of the prettiest missions that I've visited so far. The parking lot is large, and it also has an overflow to accommodate larger crowds during special events. There is a large, white church that is in the center of the parking lot. Due to its size and proximity, it immediately grabs your attention. Many people begin exploring at the church, but there's much more to see. If you walk to the far left side of the property, you'll see the actual entrance. There is small gift shop as well as a counter where you'll pay your entry fee to explore the museum. One thing that I liked about Mission San Luis Rey is that replicas of various artifacts looked pretty authentic. Also, the backstory for each item was described in detail. The mission was incredibly clean, demonstrating how much pride people take in the presentation of the property. There is a small cemetery adjacent to the church. You can walk around and pay your respects to people who had either a physical or emotional impact on the mission and the community. The grounds are well-maintained and it remains inviting to people who want to explore around. The church is large and inviting. You can purchase candles and place them near the entrance as well as the room off to the side or another room closer to the front of the church. The displays are beautiful and well-lit to draw your attention to details. People maintain a low tone in the church to allow guests to pray, have a moment to themselves, or to make a connection with a higher power. Before you leave, make sure that you stop by the small coffee shop. It's located near the bathrooms near the south side of the property. There is a little gated patio area where you can hang out with friends, family, or even your dog! Mission San Luis Rey is a great place to visit. People are very friendly and quite helpful. When we went to the mission, the weather was perfect and we had a clear view of the area. It was a great experience and I will definitely come back for another visit. I don't know which mission we will visit next, but so far, this is my favorite.

It honors and chronicles the story of surfing over the decades through a vast permanent collection and has a rotating series of special exhibits focusing on narrower topics, As a music fan, I was thrilled to see one of these displays dedicated to "Stars, Cars, and Guitars" and the birth of the modern surf era 1958-1965. If you love that period's music, movies and pop culture (think Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Dick Dale, Gidget, Beach Blanket Bingo) you will love that part of the museum. Other exhibits looked at a collection of surfboards chronicling the history of surfing, the inspirational story of Hawaii's Bethany Hamilton who lost a chunk of her surfboard and her left arm to a tiger shark, a look at the science of wave swells, a look at body surfing and much more. The museum is a blast and takes a deep dive into one of the more interesting aspects of California culture that evolved into American culture.

I am more into art than surfing itself (I'm a scaredy cat) but I found a ton to keep my interest here. Even though it is an outdoor park, it has this energetic atmosphere that teenagers would enjoy a lot. I saw a surprising number of teenagers around the lookout areas, the trails, and the picnic spots, which made the whole place feel youthful and social in a way that reminded me of the playful energy I felt at Funko Hollywood. The wide open views at the top almost felt unreal when I first saw them, and I could easily understand why so many teens were taking pictures there. The scenery practically invites you to take photos without needing anything extra. As I walked around, I realized there was more to the park than I expected. Some parts of the trail felt a little worn down, and a few areas could have been more polished, which is part of why I would give it four stars instead of five. Still, I appreciated how easy it was to explore the park without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Even with groups of teenagers laughing and taking pictures, the atmosphere stayed calm and relaxing. I only visited Double Peak Park one time before writing this review, but it left a strong impression on me because of how open, peaceful, and lively it felt all at once. It is one of the more refreshing outdoor places I have been to in a while, and I never doubted that the experience would turn out the way I hoped it would. I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because they would love the photo opportunities, the sense of freedom on the trails, and the creative feeling that comes from being somewhere with such a wide and inspiring view. It gives them a place to hang out, take pictures, and enjoy themselves without spending any money.

Occasionally, the sky would open up for us to see a few stars. We did get to see the summer triangle and a satellite though.
