Authentic hole in the wall --each taco was filled with meat & came with two freshly made tortillas. They also offer a self serving condiment bar even for take-out orders. The food was piping hot & sauces all had a kick to it. (For 7 tacos it came out to about $30) My apologies for the poorly taken photos--did a date night in the car with napping babies.

Tacos de lengua, de chincharron y de cabeza

You know that you're in a good taco place when you're the only ones there where Spanish is not your native language. Not only that, there were some gentlemen playing some amazing mariachi(?) music live when we walked in. Was a bit disappointed that they didn't have tripa but there are plenty of options available. I love that you can dress your tacos to your liking at the condiment bar which has pico, cilantro & onions, roasted jalapeños & several kinds of salsa. Very delicious & very authentic. Highly recommend their agua fresca as well.

I've past by this place for years but never stopped because it's in a little strip mall that looks a little sketchy. My husband wanted Mexican for dinner and looked at places near us and decided we would try this place. One of the best choices he has made for restaurant. When we walked it the menu was posted above the registers and is very overwhelming. Everything was written in Spanish, but had the English translation next to it. Unfortunately none of the dishes explained what was in the item. You place your order and then take a number for your food to be preordered. This is self service restaurant. They serve sodas in a can, so no free refills. We ordered a variety of dishes. And everything was amazing. This place served the best tasting refried beans we have ever had! If you can not have corn, be aware that their rice does have corn and that the burritos have a layer of this rice in them. They offer a fixin's bar/topping bar with a variety of salsas, fresh, cilantro, pico de gallo, and these marinated cooked veggies which included, carrots, onions and peppers in some type of vinegar sauce. I don't normally like string tasting vinegar sauces but this was great. Our kids have said this is a must go again restaurant and I agree.

I'm always on the hunt for authentic tacos, sopes and Aguas frescas! A little hole in the wall, if you blink you will drive right by it. I noticed the employees wore La Bonita shirts (my fav Mexican store) so I'm not sure if management is taking over. Nonetheless we decided to try a few items. We ordered tacos, sopes and caldo. The food arrived quickly. There's salsa/condiment bar for toppings- definitely add toppings to your order. I ordered the carne asada sope and taco- felt the meat needed a little more flavor and was too over cooked. I tried the caldo de res (soup) that was my favorite, lots of flavors and hearty! Don't judge me but I also tried a huarache (carne asada) not my most fav, rather order a sope. They also offer desserts and I must say the horchata drink was yummy.

I was never a huge Mexican food kinda person but when I came to this taqueria with the hubby (who loves Mexican food) it literally changed me :) Mexican food has become to one of my favorite cuisines now because of Rancho Grande. My go-to are the beef soup and the carne asada tacos. They have a salsa bar where you can choose all the toppings for your tacos and fix them. It does not look very inviting from the outside but don't let that fool you. This is THE place if you want authentic Mexican cuisine. We've been coming here for years now. The service is also very friendly. Parking is plenty and the prices are unbeatable. $1.80 for the most delicious and a good sized taco. And a huge bowl of beef soup is around $10 and it's worth every penny!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!.

This is for sure our go to Mexican restaurant and so much better than any Tex-mex place. I LOVE THIS PLACE!.

This is legit Mexican food--delicious tacos with all the fixings at the salsa bar. The hot sauces are spicy--even the 'mild' one packs a punch! I loved everything I tried: the campechano? the al pastor, and the carnitas tacos. YUM! Three tacos are perfectly filling, but my husband wished he ordered a 4th. These are priced well too--it was $13ish for 6 tacos! I prefer this type of Mexican food over the restaurants that have chimichangas, ACP, etc. Much more flavorful. Highly recommend! I agree with other reviewers that the place's décor isn't the greatest, but the food is bomb so I don't mind. We actually just took our tacos to go so it didn't even really matter.

Sopes de tripa y cecina. Fantastically crispy tripe that's cooked really well
Evan D.

Even though my order came out wrong both times I've been (ordered and confirmed it in both Spanish and English) and there are no chips available (I know it's a dumb gripe but I am a salsa bar fiend), there's a whole lot to love about this place. The sopes are good and freshly fried, piled high with meat and adorned with queso blanco, crema and lettuce. Topped with some of the super spicy red sauce or some completely serviceable pico de gallo they are quite delicious. Tacos are a bit flimsy but well-priced. Have tried 7-8 of the toppings the cecina, crispy tripe and pastor were the best. Tongue is a bit rubbery but fine, cecina was tasty enough and the barbacoa is totally fine. Looking forward to going back and trying some of their seafood offerings.

Tacos (before) Chicharrón was amazing!! Carnitas Cabeza Lengua Chorizo
Jim C.

These tacos are huge for $1.80 and packed with flavor. The chicharrón was hands down the best of them all. You can eat this one without salsa or any condiments at all. It's like a pork belly taco and the seasoning was fantastic. Carnitas were juicy, but I missed the crust that many places have. The Chorizo was mild, I like mine tangy and greasy. The lengua was perfectly cooked and the cabeza was tender and packed with flavor. The salsa bar was fresh, fully stocked and had plenty of options for everyone. One of the best meals I've had in Cary during my two weeks in town. Forget the Speedy Gonzalez lunch specials at the Americanized Mexican restaurants and get some flavor at this great little taqu

Carne asada taco

Finally found a legit taqueria! It's got pickled carrots and chiles, fresh tortillas, a salsa bar with all the stuff you'd like, and tasty well cooked meats for the tacos and burritos. It helps to know Spanish if ordering but it's not necessary. I was the only gringo here during both my visits. My favorite taco has to be the barabacoa de res(beef), such good flavor in that. One of these times I'll have to try the goat version. Carne asada, el pastor, and carnitas were all good as well. The mojado chicken burrito is awesome, every bite was full of flavor. I'll keep coming here again and again.

A large menu with reasonable prices. Not fancy (eat on styrofoam) but the food is authentic.

The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well-priced, whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout. We almost always order the ¼ white meat chicken and pair it with two sides: usually white rice, maduros (plantains), or green beans. It's simple, but it's done extremely well every time. It also feels like we aren't eating super unhealthy when we pick Alpaca. The chicken is always tender and juicy, and the portions are generous for the price. What really completes the meal, though, are the sauces. Make sure to get both the yellow sauce and the green (spicy) sauce. They take everything to another level. Affordable, consistent, and easy to keep coming back to. We're loyal customers for a reason.

The store was very cute, with a large stuffed llama near the check-out desk. The restaurant is chipotle-style. You choose a cut and amount of roast chicken. and then go down the line and pick out your sides and other goodies. For the price, you get a good portion. I got a half-chicken meal, dark meat only, with beans and French fries, as well as a chicha morada beverage. Their sauces are off to the side and self-serve, which I love. The roast chicken was delicious, so well-seasoned and tender. Honestly I did not need the sauce to eat it. The beans were smoky and I appreciate the fact that it was portioned separately to prevent the fries from getting soggy. The fries were not that fresh, and they had the skins on. I would not get these next time. The sauces were good but not mind-blowing. The green sauce in particular was sharp and salty but not flavorful. The orange sauce tasted mostly like mayo. However, again, since all the food was well-seasoned, I didn't really need the sauces. Alpaca is a great, quick, and healthy option for tasty Peruvian food. I would definitely come back for my quick fix, but I would probably skip the sauces.

We started with the empanadas, which were excellent. We had one beef and one chicken. The beef was nicely seasoned and had potato's on the inside as well. For our main entrees we had the bistec de pollo with yellow rice and plantains. We also had the lechón asado with moros and plantains. The moros is the Cuban version of dirty rice and it was very delicious. The plantains were golden, soft and prepared so good. The chicken and pork were tender and good. I specifically sought out this place after researching Cuban food in the triangle. It's right conveniently just off of the highway tucked away in a small shopping center. I was greeted upon entry and seated immediately. The space is open and a bit dark with minimal decor. The server that assisted me was friendly and attentive. He came over with water and took my order. The Ropa Vieja is my go-to Cuban dish. It feels like a warm hug. It's comfort food, but it's not too heavy. It's skirt steak slow cooked in a tomato sauce with peppers and onions. The entrees come with 3 sides. I ordered the Moros( rice and black beans) and maduros. The meat was tender and savory. It wasn't seasoned as well as I've had it before, but it was still enjoyable. The diet coke that I ordered wasn't as carbonated as I would have liked. Overall a great meal. Next time I go back, I might try something different and order a cocktail.

Just there to fill your order when you figure things out. The helpings are more than enough. Two arepas are hard for me to finish in one setting. The only downside to saving for later is they get kinda soggy so you cannot eat them neatly with your fingers later after you warm them up. But they still taste so good! The ambiance is typical fast-food feel. I like being able to get refills on my drink on my own while I'm dining in instead of having to go to the counter and wait in line to ask for one. This is the short summary: Don't go, this place is infested with cockroaches see pics. Complete…read morereview: I came here with my whole family and my in laws on Saturday. I am Peruvian and I've eaten at the Mi Peru restaurant in Durham a few times and I always liked it, it was too far for me though. Once I found out another Mi Peru opened closer I had to try it. For starters the strip mall where it is located is not the nicest location. The restaurant itself feels a bit old and not very clean. I was about to leave but I decided to take a chance. We ordered a few dishes to share: ceviche, chicharron de pescado, arroz chaufa, aji de gallina and seco de res. And even desserts : Alfajor, tres leches and crema volteada. Food overall wasn't bad, I actually liked it, it wasn't amazing but not bad at all. The service on the other hand was terrible, there was a young guy and a young girl who had no idea how to wait tables, we were missing silverware, we had to ask for plates and glasses, .... That duo was a mess. They seemed too occupied flirting with each other than caring for the 2 tables that were occupied. Anyhow, when we got to bill I noticed that an 18% tip was mandatory !! 18 % for the terrible service I had received, that was really unfair. I paid over $180 for 5 adults and 2 kids and terrible service. Up until that point I was determined to leave and just give this place 3 stars . But then I decided to go to the bathroom and on my way to the bathroom there was a cockroach in the hallway, that was disgusting so I moved quickly into the bathroom. Inside the bathroom under the sink there was another cockroach !!! I almost threw up wondering how many cockroaches are probably running around in the kitchen!!! It is sad for me to post this as a Peruvian but I care more about the safety of the people and the reputation of the Peruvian food. My advice to the owners of Mi Peru.( the original ) which I respect. Don't destroy your brand, close the restaurant and fumigate it completely, then remodel it, clean it, hire better waiters and then reopen. Or pick a nicer location if possible. I am not coming back and will advise everyone I know not to go either.
