I received excellent customer service from several associates during my last visit. I noticed that the grain storage area was tidy. Thank you, Julio, for addressing my concerns and making our local store easy to support.

I sat in the managers (Julio) office on March 17th, 2023 and placed and order for an item from Behlen Country. He said 6-7 weeks. At 7 weeks I called only to find out he never placed the order. So on May 2nd, he had Gary get in touch with me and Gary said he would place the order and it would be about 6 - 7 weeks. I just called on June 5th to check on it and Gary never placed the order. Claimed I said I didn't want to wait 6 weeks. Told him he was out of his mind. I have 42 animals waiting on that item to arrive so they can have additional living space. Why in the He!! would I say no to the order. These people must be smoking some the wacky weed. The store has set our ranch back now 12 weeks and it will be even further back by the time we find another business that can get this item for us. I will NEVER spend another dime at Bomgaars if at all possible, and especially at this location. Both of these idiots need to be on the unemployment line.

I walked up to the counter with a 30 lb bag of dog food and a couple cow flat bones.. I didn't get the lady's name at the register but she totaled up my purchase at 82.08$ I had exactly 82$ in my wallet I handed it to her and laughingly said I owe you 8 cents.. she took my cash and then said do you want to put the 8 cents on your card? I was like you're kidding right? She then said 8cents is 8cents.. I was dumbfounded with disbelief.. so I said I'll be right back I went out to my truck and dug up a quarter brought back into her and said keep the change maybe you can help out the next good customer that's short a few cents! I'll never set foot back in that store or any other pouder valley pet supply store if this is the way they do business with good long time paying customers! it may seem petty to some but good business is good business and this was not good business!

Before when I needed to get a harness i have a dog who has some dog aggression issues and they brought stuff out to me so i could try it on her and figure out what would work since she could not come into their store. Friendly dogs ARE welcome in the store. Since covid started they have offered curbside and delivery service. Although their store is open again to the public, masks are required. for those who can't get to the store or dont want to wear a mask the option of curbside is very nice! You just call in your order and pre-pay and then you can call when you get there to pick up if you are doing curb side and they will bring it out to your car for you. I have definitely appreciated this service and have utilized it since covid started. When i have been in, in the past, in person, they always offer to carry my purchases out to the car for me. Usually i decline as i can do it myself but its nice they offer that. The store is small but they have plenty of stock and variety of dog and cat stuff. They do even have a small fish section. I highly recommend this store! And it is always great to support local verses big chains.

Ok, first of all the Mercantile no longer goes by that name. It is now under the name Bomgarrs and…read morethey are very different in quality so I will go ahead and kill two birds with one stone here by reviewing The Mercantile and Bomgarrs. As The Mercantile this was a great place. The overall quality of the merchandise was good! They had ranch and farming clothes, supplies, feed for all of your rural yard pets, gardening supplies, some building supplies and more! The thing that drew me to The Mercantile almost every year(and I am NOT a farm and ranch person, despite being raised on a ranch) was going to see the little baby birds that they sold. They had baby geese, turkeys, chickens and ducks! All very adorable and very tempting to buy! I have the property to have these birds as pets but I live near a pasture and there are foxes all over so I know that they wouldn't last two seconds at my house and unfortunately I don't have suitable accommodations for them. Now onto Bomgarrs. I would give them anywhere between 2.5 and 3 stars. When I was in here a few days ago I was expecting it to be more or less the same as the Mercantile, just the name change. While that is more or less true as to what happened there are differences that the picky consumer would notice. Some of the merchandise is not quite as high quality that The Mercantile had. Some things seemed very cheap looking and the prices didn't necessarily reflect that on everything. They did have baby birds still but only a handful of chicks which looked dirty, slightly sickly and wings that looked like they got ruffed up a bit like they into a fight. There were no other baby birds here but chickens this time though there were other cages than just the three occupied ones that were here but nothing was in them. Bomgarrs also seems to have an expanded hardware section that I didn't notice as much with The Mercantile as well as lawn furniture. In the hardware section I was looking at chainsaws that I was pondering on buying because I have a tree that should be sawed down at home. There wasn't really a modest price range with the chainsaws. Maybe since I don't have a clue about chainsaws that they all come between $170-$500 but if I remember correctly from last year browsing for one there were more modestly priced ones out there and seemed liked they would hold together after you started sawing. they had a chainsaw that was about $60.00 but looked like it couldn't hold up for very long. Bomgarrs has about all of the same merchandise as The Mercantile did after those said differences. I can't say that I won't ever go back to Bomgarrs but the overall impression was not very high as to when it was under The Mercantile moniker. The Mercantile must have sold to another company or something if there is that many 'subtle' differences going on.
