I was in the mood for some ramen, and this place was nearby! We had the ("grilled") vegetarian gyoza to start off. My main gripe was the gyoza tasted very oily, which overpowered the rest of the dish. Next, I ordered the hakata ramen, which is essentially a tonkotsu ramen. The broth was okay; there was some flavor, but it wasn't as deep or complex as I would've liked. They do have sesame seeds, togarashi, and spice seasoning at the tables, which I added to help in the flavor department. The soft-boiled egg was more like a medium-boiled egg; the yolk wasn't runny whatsoever. The cha shu (pork slices) seemed kind of old; either the pork fat/oil went rancid. The price wasn't too bad either, I'd say Ramen Hakata is less expensive than most other ramen places I've been at in DFW.

Main rating is accurate. Service was EXCELLENT, interior and ambiance cozy. But the food lacking a bit: noodles too firm, broth was good, egg was good, but the chashu was tough and lacked flavor. I don't think I'll be back for the price. If I could give a .5 just for the service and fun atomosphere I would.

the food was so good, but what got me was the coleslaw sauce here! wow! If you are in the Dallas area, this is a must try. #califoniavisitor

visiting from California and this coleslaw sauce really caught my attention, not to mention the food is amazing!

Garlic creamy carbonara with chicken and soft boiled eggs, Tonkotsu ramen, and miso broth ramen. Followed by green tea and black tea.

This spot has my heart. I have never enjoyed fresh ramen this much. The service was excellent and especially kind. I love the vibes in here. Lighting that relaxes, artwork that represents what it's all about, and great prices for the portions you receive. I would definetly recommend to any friend!

Adding a second review with the tsukemen and korokke which were superb. Excellent prompt and attentive service. Also cool posters and interior decor. Definitely recommended!

Interior was beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The food however didn't have much protein and flavor was nothing special. Also there was a roach in the bathroom- yikes. But the attentive staff and the service was a 10/10

Visited on 10/1. Honestly this is the worst food I have had in the Addison area. The rice tasted like it was Minute rice or boil in a bag rice. The beef which was probably about 1 oz of it was bland, and chewy. Absolutely no flavor. I added the broth to my bowl to try and help the flavor but it did not help at all, in fact made it much worse. I could not finish my bowl. It is overpriced. $15 for a bowl of rice. To add insult to injury I tried adding hot sauce to make it taste better, only to see I got charged for that as well. I would not recommend.stay away from this place.

Hakata is my number one place to go for ramen!! It's always fresh and hot! My favorite is the kimchi ramen, as it has a whole variety in it. If you like kimchi, you'll most def like this. The service is always fast, at times they are slow to check in with you to see if you need anything else. The ambiance is cozy, quiet place to have lunch/dinner with your partner. Give it a try, you won't regret it

Good but not great. I have eaten a lot of ramen, in the US as well as Japan, so I'm picky, but this didn't grab me the way I'd hoped. The garlic tonkotsu wasn't terribly flavorful and the noodles were quite al dente, erring on the side of too hard in my opinion. The sparkling yuzu beverage was tasty but very sweet. Small place, not a lot of tables, but ramen is one of those things that's best right away rather than takeout.

As soon as we sat down we ordered a round of drinks (my lychee martini was DELICOUS) and a Chicken Karaage. Unfortunately, we quickly noticed that there was a hair in the chicken. We let our waitress know and they were quick to replace the dish for us, no questions asked! The flavor of the karaage was delicious so definitely glad they were quick to fix this issue. One of the people dining with us has a serious fish allergy and the restaurant staff was super accommodating and found something that he could have off the menu. They went so far as to remove the glaze from the brisket since it included fish sauce. Overall the food and the drinks were delicious and the staff was great! We will definitely be back to try more of the menu and enjoy their outside dining area when the weather is nice!

I ordered the Thai wings, and when they arrived, I immediately noticed an unpleasant smell. I took one bite and sent them back. They had no real flavor, and the smell made them hard to eat. I then got the crispy chicken sandwich. It was somewhat salty, but it also tasted like it had been fried in old grease, which left a bad taste in my mouth. My wife ordered the fried ribs. After asking for some sauce to go with them, they actually ended up being the best thing we ordered. Even so, the lingering aftertaste still reminded us of old grease. The drinks were decent, but overall this is not a place I would come back to or try again.

When we walked in, the hostess had a poor attitude and was off putting. Unfriendly and borderline rude. We made sure to get there as soon as they opened because we knew it would be dead, and we'd have better luck at quicker service. Unfortunately, they sat us outside because we had our ESA animal in an enclosed carrier after grilling us about what services he performs, and I believe we were forgotten about since we were the only ones on the porch. It was a very warm day with high humidity. I asked the hostess if she could make sure the fans were on since it was so hot, and she asked, "So, you want me to turn them off?" We only ordered two apps of Roti Canai, one order of the twice friend wings, and an order or the donuts (all were ordered at once to help speed things along since it was so hot outside.) It took quite a while, and the wings came out soggy and cold, which is not the norm. A thunderstorm was coming in, and we had been waiting on our donuts for at least 20 minutes at this point. My husband informed the hostess that we would have to either cancel the order or move inside since it was about to start raining. She flippantly said that she would have to ask the manager first if we were allowed inside. We were so turned off that it really ruined the experience, and it was not the way we wanted to celebrate Mother's Day. The donuts finally came out (also cold), and I had my husband just give her the credit card without the check so we could hurry up and get off the porch before it started coming down. We rushed through the dessert and left. Not loving our experience and not sure if we'll be back until the attitude and service changes. We're bummed because we were always a fan of this place until now.

I went the day before Thanksgiving and the japanese chef was a one man show. He was the only one running the establishment because everyone else had left to go to Japan for the holiday. He is so so so so nice. I don't go back to restaurants very often but this place has my heart. This time I got the spicy pork ramen (17), spicy garlic chicken ramen (18), and then got the spicy garlic pork ramen (19) togo. I will say it is a little bit salty, with the garlic ones being more salty than the non garlic ones. However the garlic ones do have more flavor. There's not that much meat/protein either just one piece of meat and an egg. The could be slightly better but it's still good. It also just has bamboo shoots but nothing else. A very simple bowl. Ambiance is nice, it feels upscale but also homey at the same time. They have an open kitchen concept which I like.

I had to dig for it. I know they probably put the meat at the bottom so it'll warm up with the broth, but I prefer it at the top. The egg was whole and cooked so it was a little runny inside, which I liked. I also liked the noodles. Unrelated to the food, I sat on the bench and there was a customer sitting on the bench beside me. She kept shifting around and causing the entire bench to move, which I didn't like.

The noodles were delightfully chewy and the broth had a rich and full flavor without being overly fatty; I finished every drop of the garlicky goodness. The pork chashu was tender and the egg had a jammy orange yolk. The Birria ramen sounded interesting but a bit gimmicky. They also have chicken ramen for those who cannot appreciate the deliciousness that pork offers. The interior was cozy and upscale for a ramen spot and they have an outdoor patio which is nearly as large as the inside. The service was respectable but not noteworthy. Cons: A little pricey but I guess that's par for the course in Preston Hollow. $23 for my bowl of ramen after tax & tip. Moriya Shokuda is still my current favorite ramen spot but JINYA is very solid! 4.5 stars!

Parking wasn't bad either, there are lots and a garage nearby. However, the food itself fell flat for me. We ordered the crispy chicken happy hour special, which comes with a side salad. The chicken was on the dry side. Whenever I order Kaarage, it usually comes with a dipping sauce, but there was none here and that would've really helped out. The dressing on the side salad was way too acidic, making it hard to eat as well. In addition, we ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer. The takoyaki themselves were pretty solid, but the texture of the mayo was off. I'm not sure if they make their mayo in-house, but i noticed it was curdled. For the ramen, we ordered Jinya Tonkotsu Black and Creamy Veggie Ramen. Pricing is standard for DFW ramen restaurants, although *slightly* higher than some others (by like $1). The base ramen comes with a good variety of toppings! However, the ramen was just okay. The noodles are on the skinnier side, which I prefer thicker, chewier noodles. The pork chashu serving was small, and it tasted kind of old and wasn't that tender nor flavorful. The broth was just alright. I prefer soft-boiled, jammy ramen eggs, but the ajitama here was cooked longer than I would've liked. Ironically, I thought the veggie ramen was *much* better. The broth had better flavor, and they use different noodles than the tonkotsu, which were thicker (and exactly what I like!). Lastly, we had the matcha tiramisu for dessert. On a positive note, the matcha flavor was detectable. However, the tiramisu crème wasn't that fluffy, and there were noticeable amounts of undissolved sugar. Both the curdled mayo and tiramisu crème provide enough data points to suggest that whoever in the kitchen is responsible for blending/mixing needs some more training and attention to detail.

The stars were aligned correctly and I was able to come to the Richardson location right when it opened. As someone that's a huge fan of Izakaya's - Mr Max did leave a little bit to be desired. Food quality was great, don't get me wrong - however I feel like for the cost, the portions are a little bit on the small side. The menu is also a little limited - this location has been open a while already so I assume they aren't going to expand the menu beyond whatever is already on there. I guess I've just been spoiled with other Izakaya's having pages upon pages of things to choose from. The dining area is quite nice, though I heard the og Irving location has tatami style seating - which this one does not. Not a deal breaker for me. Staff was nice and restaurant was clean, just wish their portion sizes were at least a little more "Texas" sized for the price. Other diners I went with said the noodles are better at the Irving location but I can't speak to that as I've never been there. All in all still a nice dining experience.

The ambience is definitely less classic izakaya style (no taking your shoes off or sitting at the bar watching the chefs work in the kitchen), but all of our favorite dishes that we've tried at the Richardson location have been spot on. We like to do shareable small plates style, even for the "bigger" entrees like ramen and the house curry, and we're always stuffed at the end of our meal. Service is pretty good and personally I love that this location is much closer to where we live and usually also much less busy than the OG location; better for us to walk in whenever we want :) Can't wait to return soon!
