I took a vintage pocket watch in to get a hand and a winding key for it after the manager asked me to return the next day when the watchmaker was on duty. After examining it for about 5 minutes the watchmaker stated he did not have a hand to fit it and I asked him what he would recommend I do.
At that time an older gentleman, who I assume was the owner, shouted at me that they were trying to work and didn't have time for me.
I was astounded, as I had been requested to come back that day to let the watchmaker examine my watch, and told him I wasn't aware that I had been bothering them and if that was the case I would just leave.
I asked the person who shouted at me what I owed for the watchmaker looking at my watch and he replied "Nothing, we didn't do anything to fix it" and I started to walk out the door.
He then asked me if I wanted to leave it to be repaired and I said "No, I don't think so" to which he replied "Good!", and I left the business.
I have never been so insulted by a business owner and will never do business with them again if I have to drive 100 miles to find another business to fix my watches. read more
