Normally I do not post such detailed reviews (or many reviews at all), however I am compelled to…read moreleave one for one simple reason: the care received for my gum grafting procedure from Dr. Valetin Dabuleanu was without a doubt, nothing short of excellent and simply incomparable with that of past experiences (I have had a root canal done as a young adult and many fillings).
From the very beginning, the assessment procedure was in-depth. I had not expected the doctor to go into details (such as alignment, gaps between teeth ratings, etc), I have also never gotten such a succinct description of the procedure (complete with shots of my teeth and comparison to what a normal site looks like).
Walking into my procedure appointment on November 11, 2020, I was fully equipped with all of the required information. To illustrate the level of detail I was given prior to booking the procedure, the doctor had supplied me with the following; post-operative instructions (2 pages), connective tissue graft documentation (and consent, specifically around what Endogain was and why it is being recommended, another 2 page document), sedation explainer sheet and consent (2 page document) and two separate documents on surgical procedure consent + published work / brushing technique resources. If this isn't thorough and detailed, I'm not sure what is.
On the day of the procedure and having followed all of the necessary instructions, I was walking in with ease (this is also despite the fact that I am generally apprehensive about sedation of any kind, the last time I was sedated for an operation was back in 2002 as a child). As a patient, all I can tell and say is: the doctor took his time and was very careful in conducting this procedure.
Immediately following the procedure, I had refrained from work at home and rested. There was no pain or noticeable discomfort to speak of. There was minor bleeding from the roof of my mouth (which I was instructed to check on and pad with supplied gauze), but that is normal + to be expected since it is the extraction site for the tissue, afterall.
The next day I had received a call from Dr. Dabuleanu's office. To be honest, this was totally unexpected and in my mind, since the procedure had gone so well... there wasn't much more to do other than see the doctor for a follow-up on November 18th. However, it was clear in the call the doctor really does care about his patients. Again, there was no less detail provided or enquired of (everything from my state of well being, to visual appearance of the site and medication regiment).
I am not sure if it is standard to see the patient for three spaced out follow-up appointments after such a procedure, however, the fact that Dr. Dabueleanu does this, indicates to me there is genuine care for the patient.
As for the sensation and discomfort after the surgery? I can honestly say there was next to none. One could say that in my case, I may be lucky with healthy and quickly regenerating gums. However, I do find this hard to fully believe, as in any surgery if it is done right and with care - it will make a world of difference on the recovery process.
Thank you again Dr. Dabuleanu, you've truly made a positive impact in my oral health.
