I still have the photographs from my first donkey…read moreride on scarborough beach over 25 years ago and its great that this traditionally seaside activity is still available. The donkeys take children for short trips along the beach they work in groups of about 6 and they all their names on their harnesses. My son selected to ride on William who was the cutest of the bunch but they all they all looked sweet. All the donkeys were well behaved and are clearly used been around children all the time. The donkeys keepers were great too they stopped during the ride to allow me to take photograph and made sure the donkeys behaved. My son adored going along the sand on the donkey just as I had done all those years ago. The donkey rides are great fun for kids I highly recommend them if your taking a trip to Scarborough over the summer. We came down from the top near Northstead Bridge and going down under the bridge gave a feeling of being in a secret place.On the way down we took a path back to the lily pond and the statue of Eros.It was a mystical place to us__seemingly old and secret and fascinating. Sadly it was vandalised over the years but has been restored. We turned back to the path and carried on to play poohsticks on a lovely stone bridge.Allthe way down there are fine trees and shrubs.Then we came to the boating pond and paddling pool.Onwards and a choice of two directions around the park lake.Right to the seats to watch the Naval warfare miniature boats.Left past the aviary and to the bridge to the island.It now is a nice walk and the burned down pagoda hsa been replaced.Round to get into a boat to go on the lake.All very nice but it doesn't have the mystery of the glen.
