Tape and sharpie instead of replacements

I just stayed here with a friend for 4 nights. The staff are great, super nice and helpful. Even housekeeping was really friendly. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The view from the cafe is beautiful (the view from our room was the parking lot). However, this hotel is not worth $150/ night. There are two elevators, one was out of service the entire time we were there, and the other broke down twice during our stay. We had to walk up and down 7 flights of stairs! Lots of little things that just made the hotel look bad, like tape and sharpie in the elevator and dirty floors, walls, and doors. Our room door wouldn't shut at all unless we swiped our card, which was a pain when leaving. I heard other doors on our floor slamming repeatedly, so I assume they had the same problem. The WiFi was super spotty and would be unavailable randomly. The clocks in the room all had a different time on them (this was easy to fix ourselves, but I expect better). The towels were super scratchy and low quality. We did the breakfast buffet once around 10:30 (it's open until 11am). Everything was very dry and looked like it had been out for hours. I assume if you go earlier it's good, but I think if people are still coming to eat, we should still get fresh food since it's open until 11am. I got the waffle that I could make myself which was good, but my friend is celiac and had to get the eggs, which were super gross. There were other people there too that were also very disappointed in having to pay for gross eggs.

    Bag over the smoke detector

We had a really fun time, went around Grand Rapids, pretty good location. But. The showerhead and the faucet only work at the same time, room 619. There is a bag over the smoke detector in the room. Overall, we had a great time and the hotel felt like a nice safe stay.

I've stayed in this hotel twice. The first time was more than 10 years ago for one night. I don't recall much from that stay, other than I don't have any negative memories. My most recent stay just this past weekend. Things got off to a bad start when I arrived. I arrived just past midnight local time after about a three hour drive. The front door was locked, as would be expected. However, no one was at the front desk and no was responding to the intercom. Next, I tried calling the hotel's direct phone number, but no one answered. At this point, it's been about twenty minutes. I then called the general customer service line who also attempted to contact the hotel's front desk. After another five to ten minutes, the front desk clerk finally showed up to let me. She claimed she was in the bathroom and that my call to hotel should have been forwarded to her cell phone, but, for some reason, was not. However, in the meantime I was still on the phone with the national customer service, and she told them she did answer her phone and we didn't respond. I didn't appreciate being told a different story. Other negatives include an overwhelming smell of Indian food in the first floor hallway. There is an Indian restaurant in the hotel, but I don't understand how the smells got to to other side of the first floor. Also, one evening, I was working out in the fitness room (by the pool), and at around 11:00 pm a maintenance man shut off the lights to pool and fitness room without saying anything to me or warning me even though I was in his plain sight. Other negatives included water dripping from the ceiling of the first floor hallway, and pealing on the outside of my shower/tub. There were some positives. First, the size of room was adequate and it was clean. I had enough space at the provide desk to do my work. Second, it had decent amenities. There is the aforementioned pool and fitness room (actually three small rooms). The fitness room I had sufficient equipment and space for my needs. Third, the room was stocked with basic extras you would expect . There was coffee/tea and the typical toiletries. Fifth, their was a nice sized TV, but the reception was spotty and the beds were comfortable. Sixth, they offered room service on demand, which is more than most hotels do today. I feel that the location was a push. It's right if the highway, so it's at least its easy to find and get to, but it's far from downtown Grand Rapids and the surrounding area lacks restaurants and amenities. It's a warehouse and industrial area. In sum, my stay here wasn't awful, but there seems to be better hotels in Grand Rapids.

    Refrigerator mold

This is the dirtiest hotel that I have ever stayed at! I would give negative stars if I could! The initial room I was booked in had a lot of hair in the bed and the table next to the bed hadn't been cleaned. The room that they moved me to had a pair of fake eyelashes stuck to the bathroom door frame and there was MOLD in the refrigerator!! I have reached out to the general manager, Suresh Patel, and never heard back from him. I also contacted GR Hospitality, Choice Hotels corporate, and sent an e-mail to the Kent County Health Department. The restaurant in the lobby was just as dirty. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Blood was on the walls and in the bathroom. Nothing was clean, including the shower, towels, and sheets. Don't stay here unless you hate yourself.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE!! (If I could give them a zero I would.) This hotel was recommended to me because it was close to my friend's wedding view so I booked it. Big mistake. I arrived at the hotel to find a decent looking lobby and a friendly member of the staff (that is where the positives end). I checked in and was given my hotel key. Arriving in my room I noticed an automatic smell of mold and smoke. Worried about my bridesmaid's dress smelling of this I decided to go and ask if I could change rooms. When I went downstairs the women at the front desk seemed surprised by my issue, but was gracious and switched me to another room immediately. Once again I went up stairs and what I saw completely terrified me and made me question the cleanliness of this hotel beyond my prior issues. Upon entering I automatically noticed stains on the wall. Once I turned on the lights I noticed that it seemed to be blood or some other red stained fluid. I then noticed another strain on the opposite walk that looked similar. I decided I should check the bed. I found numerous stains. These were all obviously (see photos below- not the best I admit, but I was freaked out). After seeing all of this, I decided that I couldn't stay here and would find another hotel and wanted a refund. I went downstairs to ask the women if this was a possibility. She informed me no because I had booked with Priceline. I reached out to Priceline and it was clear from my conversation that in fact the company, the Radisson, or the general manager in this case could actually grant me a refund. They were unwilling to do so, but I was able to negotiate with them to pay for the night and get refunded for the remainder of my nights after I said I had pictures and ensured the girl at the front desk included specific details to her GM. This is the worst experience I have had in a hotel and I do not plan to ever go back to a Radisson Hotel. I have never had to ask for another room or seen a room as bad as this especially when I paid $130 a night. Despite this bad situation I ended up at a decent hotel in GR. I went back down to ask to check out and get a refund

So we all know covid has changed everything, but some things, like customer service & cleanliness should still be in place. 1.) Waited 10 minutes in the lobby to check in but no one was at the front desk. "Hello. Hello" No answer, so I had to go outside and call into the office to get a clerk to come to the front desk and check me in. 2.) I was informed "masks will be worn at ALL times" yet a fellow guest walked by without a mask, the desk clerked looked right at him but said nothing to him. I guess that rule only applies to me. 3.) As we walked down the hallway to our room, garbage cans were overflowing and used tissues were on the floor. 4.) Room smelled "funky" like someone had been burning a candle. 5.) At check out I looked at my receipt and the there was an additional $25 dollar charge on the bill. I asked, "what's that?" We charge a $25 damage fee until we have a chance to clean your room and make sure you didn't tear anything up." I have NEVER had a hotel do that. The kicker being, they wouldn't have said a word about the "add on" if I hadn't questioned it. Serious? Next time in GR's I will not be staying here, which is too bad because the hotel is in a good location.

    Stain on couch

Place was a DUMP!!! Pictures online are deceiving. The first room we were placed in had blood on the sheets. They gave us a new room and the place looked like it hadn't been clean in months. There was dried urine all over the toilet as well as cigarette ashes all over the place. There were markings of food all over the bathroom door. The blinds were broken. There was a huge stain down the side of the couch. Their was was dripping all over the bathroom from the ceiling. The tub didn't drain when you showered. My boyfriend and I both got bit by something while sleeping. The second we got up we left to go back home. Nasty place. Do not stay here.

I loved all of them. Their personalities can start your day off on a positive note and if you had a bad day, their warm welcome in the evening is a reminder there are good people that make the world a brigher place. Food options - they had nice options for onsite dining. I was able to enjoy a dinner at Knoop on the 8th floor. It was a happening place. The food - excellent! The rooftop deck - lovely. Staff - friendly and they hustled. The room - it was ok. I like the simplicity. There wasn't a dresser with drawers. There was a side table that had drawers. It appears I might have been in a room that was designed to be handicap accessible. Which is great to see they offer accommodations for everyone. The challenge I had was the shower bench that folds down from the wall made the stall more narrow. I love that they provide magnification mirrors for primping...however for this room it was mounted low - just above the counter sink. I wasn't able to use it. The complimentary handsoap - was not appealing. I used it without thinking twice because I have never experience "offensive" smelling hotel products...flowery yes, but never offensive. This had "charcoal" in the name and it seemed appropriate because it smelled like something was burning...yuck. I didn't enjoy it at all. Thankfully I bring my own toiletries. I didn't use theirs. Parking - Love the valet service - not cheap but worth it if you are there for a work trip and work is paying. They also have a garage you can park in behind the building. Surrounding area - there several great restaurants within walking distance. If I return to the area, I will definitely try to stay here again.

But I would be remiss if I did not share my experience at the Embassy Suites in Grand Rapids, the downtown location. Located across from the Grand River, just barely outside the heart of downtown (that congested, no parking to be found, crazy busy section), yet still only minutes from it. Parking was $25 a night, much less than the $40+ for hotels located in the "heart." A big clean and bright lobby with a fun water feature greets you as you enter. A friendly staff member checked us in, though contactless check-in is an option. There is a Starbucks near the elevators if you need your fix, a nice amenity. Our room was immaculate, with a balcony and view of the river, a random lucky assignment. Nice big flat screen televisions, preloaded with streaming apps (they automatically sign you out upon check-out), so we watched our favs. Beds were very comfy, we both slept well, so that is a high mark in itself. Walk-in shower with cascading ceiling shower head and hand held shower wand to the side (I absolutely loved this shower, my fav of all hotels we've stayed). Massive sliding door separated the bathroom and seating/desk area from the bedroom. Perfect since my hubby wakes up early to work on his laptop, so no bright lights waking me up. Then there was the happy hour. Snacks, like hummus, pretzels, nuts and more, plus two drinks each, gratis. A charge for premium drinks, in case the freebies were not what you wanted. Then there was breakfast. We assumed it would be something we had to pay for, with the custom omelette station and all the options they offered, but it was included. I am not an omelette person, but these omelettes were amazing. I chose the egg white with mushrooms, spinach and cheese, while hubby had the Daily Special, with chorizo and hatch chilies. If you think an egg white omelette cannot be delicious, the ones here will change your mind. And my husband's was also outstanding! The chefs were friendly, even after making omelettes non-stop for well over a couple hours. I just can't say enough good things about those omelettes. Now the other prepared foods were hit and miss. They offered a large selection of hot and cold breakfast foods as well. The old fashioned rolled oats oatmeal was slightly under cooked and the scrambled eggs and diced potatoes were also nothing to write home about. But the sausage, crispy bacon and fluffy French toast were quite yummy. I saw yogurt and fruit, as well as muffins and other items, which looked good, but we didn't try. But coffee was good. We are already planning a Grand Rapids escape now, with a stay at this hotel as the cornerstone of our visit. Did I mention there is also a pool? Im just so happy we discovered this hotel, will be our go to whenever we need to stay over in GR!

The fitness center is a rectangular glass box that faces both the pickleball courts and the pool, so you get an interesting view no matter where you're working out. Yes, this hotel has pickleball courts. It's $35 per hour to book a court. When we were there, there were Pickleball Players with a capital P tearing up the courts, so I'm thinking this isn't a place to bring your toddler to throw balls. These pickleball courts are for people who want to really play. Our hotel room was just fine. It was a little small for a two-queen-bed room, and the window faced the back of another building. But it was clean, and the shower worked, and the beds were comfy. One thing that I love is that housekeeping will automatically refresh your room, and you don't even have to beg. The hotel is huge, and there were a couple of big conferences going on while we were there, so there were lots of people milling about, but it never felt overly crowded. The first floor of the hotel feels like an indoor mall: there's a coffee shop, two restaurants, a wine shop and a gift shop. If you go up to the 27th floor, you'll find MDRD, a modern Spanish restaurant with a rooftop bar that overlooks the Grand River. This is not the place to take kids -- this feels like an adult-only space. They also have a dress code: smart casual. The adults in our party enjoyed a couple of drinks (wine and beer and bourbon) at the bar, and it was cool to just sit and watch the traffic on the Grand River bridge crawl by like ants. Parking is valet or a parking garage that's around the corner. I try to avoid valet when I can, for personal reasons, so we did self-park, which was no big deal.

The kickback meals were huge and delicious, and they had allergy friendly options for both of breakfast and the dinner for my big Allergy baby. There was a small fridge in the room that worked so well it froze a lot of our supplemental food we brought for those of us with allergies. The room was clean. We had laundry on our floor, which was incredibly helpful when my baby product exposed to an allergen. The front desk was able to take the cache I had and give me quarters for the machines. They had speed queen machines, which were efficient, but they definitely could've used a little bit of a cleaning. I didn't expect a lot since it was a hotel, laundry room but I was pleasantly surprised. If you don't have any allergies staying at a brewery, can save you so much money with all of the food choices. This is one of the best ones I've ever seen, and all of the staff was kind helpful, and communicated very well. Unfortunately, we didn't do the pool much just because of how packed and insane it was... the weight room could've definitely used a little spruce up. There were only three treadmills a recumbent bike and dumbbells up to 35 pounds. I was still able to get an OK workout in with the dumbbells, but a mat and inflating the ball would really go a long way. This hotel is an excellent area close to a target/Starbucks a Meijer 5 to 10 minutes from Cascades Park, which was perfect for my kids to get a little energy out after our travel day. There's also a Costco across the street which we are planning on refilling it before we leave.

Stayed here visiting family for the weekend. My cousin had points so we stayed in a double queen…read moredeluxe room. It had a little living room and then a bathroom separated us to the bedroom with 2 queens. TBH I've been in a deluxe room at a Drury and this was smaller. It fit us. But it was a bit smaller. The room had a desk which was nice, the couch wasn't bad, and the bathroom was ok. I think it could have been a bit larger. The tub is shallow so not a lot of baths going on. I wish they had one of those modern sleek showers instead. Oh and bathroom doesn't have a fan. Thought that was weird. Beds were comfy. I liked that there are a lot of plugs in the room. But they are plugs not direct USB connections. Again older hotel I think. The breakfast was good. Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, sausage, oatmeal, waffles, a definite variety. The happy hour dinner is also decent. We really did not partake. But went to the happy hour 1 night and got our drinks. They were good and the bartender super nice. There were lots of family's eating. It was nice but they were mostly pigs and didn't clean up after themselves and left a giant mess. Not hotels fault. People are just rude and entitled. 1 particular family destroyed their area. Even left swim towels in their area for the staff to clean up. Anyway, not hotels fault. This is easy to find right off the highway. Easy to get in. To get out go between the gas station and McDonalds for the light. Otherwise you'll never go left out of there. If you like Drury's or want to try one this is decent.
