RAA, or should I say our knights in shining armour? So, when your car breaks down it is a pretty overwhelmingly annoying experience. My little car has been great over the years, but she is getting old now and kind of showing it. After a meeting I jumped back into my car and turned the ignition and heard that terrible "clicking sound". Hmmm.... Maybe my starter motor has finally died? Nothing I can do but call my car saviours! I called RAA immediately. The operators in the RAA are actually really lovely and helpful. I have experienced this every time I have called. I get surprised about this as I imagine that they would get a lot of people frustrated on the phone. But no, very helpful and understanding. They sent a RAA mechanic to my rescue and after a little wait he greeted me with smile. He asked how I was apart from the car. That made me giggle. So, I proceeded to give him details on what I thought the problem was and it was straight to business. It took only 10 minutes to figure out what was wrong (apparently my battery had died and needed replaced) and get my car running again. My RAA mechanic (Tom was his name), was so very helpful and friendly. I told him I was after a new car in the near future and as asked for advice He was very happy to give me some great pointers on what to look for. That is awesome customer services! So, with my car fixed I was ready to get on with my day. I think that RAA mechanics deserve a lot of respect, they work crazy hours and have mad mechanic skills. 5 STARS !! Quality roadside assistance received today by a RAA contractor from Coromandel Valley S.A. I had a dead flat battery today & the very helpful & friendly gentleman from RAA, who happened to live in the same suburb as me was at my home within 30 mins from my call. He checked my battery which was definitely dead & promptly replaced with a new one. He checked to make sure everything worked properly. He even put air in my tyres which were a bit (very) flat. I originally put 3 stars for the RAA as they are A-Ok.........then I thought about how many times they saved me when I was younger and had car trouble, or even more recently with battery replacements, and I upped it to 4 stars. They offer a massive amount of services including security, unsurance but most importantly roadside assistance. I have been a member of the RAA ever since I got my licence. It is well and truly worth the money for the piece of mind it offers and for the times I have had to use it. Plus nowadays you also get an email newsletter with heaps of other special offers in it for RAA members. Or even some discounts you can get all the time, like percentage off discounts off all items at regular prices at Repco. There are different levels of membership depending on what you need, how much you want to spend, if you travel much on country roads or interstate, you can choose. I have my Motor Vehicle Insurance with RAA Insurance. Having been an Insurance broker for over 20 years I understand insurance and the claims process. I don't know where to start with this but I have never experienced a claims process which so appalling that I will move my Insurance as soon as my car is fixed. It is almost 2 months and it's still not ready. As it was hit whilst parked they can make a full recovery and kept refusing to provide a hire car even though I'm entitled to one. I had to go to their office and sit there for a long time whilst they sent an employee. I asked for a manager but there were never any available. They finally organised a hire car and the hire car company was so bad I almost handed the car back. I will not recommend RAA Insurance to anyone read more
