The salmon was cured in house in their own snaps, the duck was so flavourful and tender and the creme fraiche panna cotta with strawberries is probably one of the best desserts I've ever had. The couple that owns the place are super cool, and the hostess's sister is the magical chef. Also, don't miss out on their cocktails! They make their own tonic for G&T! I would visit the island just to go here.

Driven by rumours of their outstanding pizzas I drove across the island to try them out, Upon…read morearriving I realized that this particular evening they only did the pizza buffet and takeaways and as I didn't bring my buffet appetite, I headed for the takeaway counter to order a to-go pizza. There I waited while the owner/manager/whatever hung out by the pizza ovens conversating the buffet guests. Twice I noticed, that he was looking in my direction and noticed my presence, but he obviously couldn't be bothered to take my order. After 8 minutes, being the only customer by the takeaway counter, my patience ran out and I left. They obviously run a very profitable business since they can afford to ignore customers. I will explore alternatives before I return - if ever.

Høiers Iscafe is a relaxed oasis by Allinge harbor offering a nice roomy terrace with a great view…read moreover the harbor, the walking street, and the Baltic Sea. The atmosphere is casual and inviting. Big umbrellas offer shade during the day and a nicely lit ambience during the evening. The food, consisting mainly of lavish sandwiches, is authentic Danish (refreshing as opposed to the "Italian" and "Thai" options offered elsewhere in this town where tourists come to visit Denmark), actually very good, and reasonably priced. I recommend ordering "Høiers Stjerneskud" (translates to Høiers Shooting Star); a breaded and fried fish fillet generously topped with shrimp, remoulade and a mayo dressing, served on a slice of Danish brick rye bread (56kr). They offer a good selection of ice cream scoops, served much too generously for your own good. The beer selection is limited to Tuborg and the local Svaneke Bryghus, but this is quite normal. Plenty of seating and friendly service by the bar makes this a good place to opt for either for lunch, coffee, dinner or late night beer. Oh, and let's not forget the free wi-fi.
