Her contract was straightforward and easy to understand, and she was incredibly responsive and easy to get a hold of throughout the entire planning process. On the wedding day itself, she was prompt and even arrived early, which immediately put my mind at ease during the morning rush. I'll be the first to admit that I am not "good" at having my picture taken... I usually feel awkward and stiff in front of a camera and my self esteem isn't the highest. However, Sarah made me feel instantly comfortable and relaxed. She has such a gift for direction and used unique, creative poses that felt natural rather than forced. My guests and wedding party haven't stopped talking about how much they absolutely loved her energy; she truly felt like a part of the family while still staying incredibly focused on her craft. I specifically asked for a focus on candids, and Sarah delivered beyond my wildest dreams. She captured the raw emotion and "in-between" moments perfectly, and every single edit was breathtakingly beautiful. We have been together since high school, and this was so important to me. He also hates getting pictures done, so it was nerve racking. But, after months of us talking, me making so many changes, it was perfect. She showed up early, and stayed way longer than expected, and we held some great conversations to make my husband feel more comfortable. Malie does not follow through on promises and is defensive and reckless when mistakes are made instead of sympathetic and eager to please. To be in a service industry, I find this to be her most disturbing trait. When we decided to go through with her, she promised a "welcome gift" and beer for my husband during out engagement shoot. Both never happened. I had to remind her of the welcome gift twice before a small booklet was sent to me. No beer for my husband. But i let it go since the engagement shoot turned out satisfactory. Cut to the wedding. She cancelled on my twice for phone calls only to finally tell me 2 days before my wedding her second shooter could not make it, the second shooter i had already paid for. she was scrambling telling me this and talked in circles, but what was i supposed to do. she instead brought her husband who clearly did not seem happy or eager to help her. his pictures turned out pixelated and they did not work well as a team. she spent way to much time taking family protraits leaving little to no time for pics of my husband and i, which i specifically asked her to do the opposite. from the second she started the to moment she ended, she seemed frazzled and unorganized. multiple ppl at my wedding said they felt bad for her bc she seemed so overwhelmed and not put together. she had no plan, clearly did not think about places to shoot, or had her camera and lighting ready. the thing that dissappointed me most is the fact that she never addressed any of my concerns and only acted in defence and passive aggressiveness. i work in customer service industry and would never treat a client the way she treated me. if you have 4 hours to pose on a sunny day outside, Malie might do a decent job for you. but if you expect candid photos that capture you love and an experienced photographer that can rise to any occasion, look elsewhere.

They should have told him to clean his face, first of all. Then, he was trying to smile, but it turned out to look like an expression of anything else, but not happiness. I am not talking about his body position that was not fixed at all. I think if you provide professional services, you should do your best to make sure your client gets satisfied. But paying $12 for such an ugly (didn't want to use this word, but I had to) is not acceptable. I don't recommend them at all. And it wasn't our first negative experience with them. But this time it was too much.

In comes Melanie, who I happened to find by accident through a Yelp promo email. She had another shoot earlier in the day, but bc we were doing a later beach elopement ceremony and reception, she could do it! Signing the contract and working out all the details online and via email was easy. She sent me some paperwork to give her details and then we had a phone conversation to discuss and get to know one another. On the day of - she texted me, showed up exactly on time, and was a dream to work with. So friendly, so kind, so helpful. She went above and beyond for me and my family and was so easygoing. She posed us wonderfully and rolled with the punches when a few things didn't go as planned (it's a wedding, it's going to happen!). Absolutely professional. The photos we've been given so far as a preview are stunning and I can't wait to see the others. Everyone raved about how kind she was and how much they liked our photographer afterwards, and when we've sent a few photos, they've all been blown away. I feel lucky to have found Melanie, and her husband Chris, to shoot my day and would recommend her to anyone who asked me for any photos. If we need family portraits or special pics taken in the future, she's our girl!

That's right, you couldn't find one. It's cuz she's the BEST. EVERY. SINGLE. IMAGE is perfect. I've been amazed at how she is able to take totally crazy, newborn skin (bumpy, red, splotchy, acne, jaundice, you name it) and make it smooth and creamy- and it looks beautiful and natural. Soooo many photographers don't do this well. I see (too often) images of babies looking red/splotchy and uncomfortable, or the opposite happens and they look waaay over-photoshopped and plastic. Summer is an expert in every way. I look at a baby's face and take a photo with my iphone thinking "they are SO cute!!!!" then I see the photo and I think, "what happened???!!!" lol. She is able to bring out the beautiful serenity of the babies she photographs and also keeps the real and natural "feel" of it all. Her use of color and props is out of this world. You won't find a better planner, as she plans every detail. She makes every hair stay in place (sooo important to my OCD-ness) and is conscious of each little, tiny finger's placement of your baby. She'll take family photos if you beg her, and she makes the new Mommies look sooooo amazing and natural! It's seriously incredible. Here's the reason you are going to believe every word I say.
