Michael's Auto Plaza - Dump truck

Michael's Auto Plaza

My boyfriend and I chose this place because the sellers promised him a good, solid, and functional…read moretruck. They took forever to make sure the car was "in perfect state" and it really was as shiny and beautiful as a brand new truck. Just while doing the first trial ride, we had the first of many issues and just blocks away from the store. The dump body of the truck didn't lift as it should and when up, didn't go down again. We had to call the store and even the owner came, screaming that the box doesn't have to go all the way up obviously, he was in a rush to get rid of that truck. The box of any dump truck needs to be able to go all the way up to dump the debris. We had already started the paperwork and the loan and had a long way back home so we agreed with the promise that they would get reimbursement for the repair. Finally, we went to put some gas on the truck to be ready for the long way back. That's when we found the 2nd issue: the front lights were on all the time. Again, we had to go back to the store just for the manager to tell us that was normal and that we were exaggerating but that they would take care of the bill. Back to our town, and the very first time I wanted to use it, I couldn't because it had a gasoline leak. Calling the Mechanic and waiting for days before being able to use it, again, losing money and clients while waiting. After that, the truck seemed like it was finally functional and I thought the nightmare was over. I was able to use it a couple of times before the new issue, just last week. By today I spent almost 3k on what was supposed to be a functional truck, but the sellers have only paid us back less than 30% of the total bill (even before the 30-day guarantee was over). I knew it wasn't a new truck and it would probably have issues but never imagined that it would have a new problem every week. It was a dump truck that was sitting forever, had many internal issues, and didn't have an adequate amount of maintenance and now is sitting at my porch wasting space, waiting for the mechanic. I took my time to make this honest review and I guess a new Christmas update is coming soon.

this place sold me a jeep that was supposedly inspected. hello NYS if you are monitoring , they…read moredon't know how to inspect. In the front for directional so had one white light and one amber. I asked them politely to change that. to sweeten the deal I asked for and they agreed to a rubber mat for the back of the jeep. they never provided it. the shocks were rotted off it so I had to replace them myself. you should no confidence in their staff. they seem to be in the business to rip people off. finally I asked about the mat and other warranty items and I was told by the manager to go f**k my self. I contacted many local and state agencies as a result. most recently and keep in mind I've had this vehicle two months the battery is shot. avoid this place like the plague.

Highly not recommended. They kept my car for 5 weeks and gave me nothing but unfilled promises and…read moreexcuses. When I finally got the car back, I could tell immediately the car was not repaired correctly. I refused to let them have the car as I couldn't do without it for another 5 weeks. Because of safety issues, I got the repairs done by Schodack Auto...correctly this time. My wife and I contacted J&J Reilly for a refund and again got promises, but not refund. Not wanting to deal with them any more, I took them to small claims court. J&J didn't show up and the judge ruled in my favor. That was June 23, 2015 and I'm still out $629.32.

When I moved to NY (and lost my "daddy's a mechanic" discount, haha), I immediately set out to find a local, non-dealership auto repair shop. I spoke with people in the area, who almost all recommended J&J Reilly Auto Repair. While the shop itself isn't large or fancy, this is the most friendly and honest repair shop in the Capital Region. They always have cake or other baked goods in the waiting area, and the woman who answers the phone and runs the desk (presumably Mrs. Reilly?) is open, honest, and willing to help. We've taken both of our cars there for multiple types of repairs - brakes, catalytic converters, general checkups, and more. When the catalytic converter in my husband's car died, we thought we were going to be out $1100 dollars (the cost of a new one) - they found another option, repairing the existing converter, that only cost $300 (including labor). When I was told that my car was broken, we took it there for a second opinion - they looked it over completely, and (bonus!) didn't even charge us for labor when they found nothing wrong. I would recommend J&J Reilly to anyone, with no reservations whatsoever. While it's never fun to have a car not working correctly, these guys do wonderful work at a fair price, and make it as easy an experience as possible.

I was tired of…read moreMavis always trying to sell you something you don't want (or need) and dealing with the grumpy, horrible manager now at Wal-Mart tire dept. I found the snow tires I wanted online, went to Grand Premier's website and requested a quote. That took a few days but that was during Thanksgiving holidays so I have to cut them some slack on that. I ordered the tires on Monday. Tues afternoon I got the call that they were in. I went there right after work. I paid for them up front - yes paid for them BEFORE they were installed (which to me meant that they weren't going to try and sell me on any additional services) and told to pull up right behind the red car over there. Soon I was told to pull into a garage bay. There are people all over the place. They have workers, supervisors, managers all making sure that the job gets done right. And those in charge aren't just standing around waiting for something to happen. They're watching everything and making sure that everything happens right. These guys know tires. So, you sit in your car and it's almost like a NASCAR pitstop, but slower paced. They work while you're in the car. Two man crews. One on each side. I had to move a tire from the back to the front and put two new snows on the back. The two guys working on my car were well-coordinated making sure they had the car jacked up so they can do what needed to be done. One supervisor made sure that the wheels were installed with the wheels facing in the right direction - apparently it does matter - and it makes sense especially if they're snow tires designed to grip the road. Then as they finished up, one guy put the bolts on with the air wrench while the other followed behind with the torque wrench. It was like watching a well-rehearsed, greasy ballet from backstage. They were done in no time at all and I was on my way home. From the park and ride to home it was an hour and a half - with a tire change in between. This place is amazing. I'll be back to get snows on my front tires in a few weeks. My wife will be going there for tires on her vehicle as well. All in all, I'm a very happy customer!! NOTE: This is a dupe of another review I posted earlier on a different newly created account because computers like auto-filling in everything for you these days. So, if admins can delete the other and keep this one, that would be great!
