I wish there was a no start rating. That s giving this owner and his company too much credibility. I met Skip (owner) at a booth he set up at a local swap meet. Seemed like a nice guy. Came to my house to pick up an engine for my 50 year old car that I wanted rebuilt.. Spent some time talking with me about what he would do to it but there were no promises until he took the engine apart. Understood and agreed. Felt pretty good about this. Almost two weeks went by and he never touched the engine even though he said that it would be done in three. Then when I started talking to him about some specific needs I had that needed to go onto the engine, he argued, basically said it was his way or no way and that if it wasn't done his way, he didn't want to build the motor and would return it. When asked when he would return it the answer was "When I feel like it". Then hung up. Ill leave the rest of the conversation out but it was VERY one sided. His side. $420.00 Screw job. Took 6 months to get my engine block back. 350 Chevy basic machine work all done careless, sloppy, half assed, incomplete, and unprofessional. Line hone; had a loose cap and block was smashed with a hammer and a chissel like a junkyard mechanic, I paid for a machinist, I was not given notification of cap fitment, otherwise I would have brought in new caps to be machined. Block Deck Resurface; headbolt holes were not countersunk, any competant machine shop performs this procedure (had to do myself) Torque plate cylinder hone and fit new pistons to bores; pistons sat on shop floor for 6 months, filthy dirty, never even taken out of the box, not fitted to bores as requsted. Was not torqe plate honed as requested, was half assed with a stone on the floor with no effort, piss poor cross hatch with spots missed (see pictures) Charged $65.00 for final block clean; block was filthy, cylinders wiped out black 5-6 times before clean (just a con-artist rip off) Had block for 6 months; doesn't answer phone, shop is always closed, never there, does not keep regular hours, does not call back or reply to messages. This was the WORST company and guy I have ever dealt with. Called to ask about a small engine rebuild. Told him our needed time frame, etc. Skip was very accomodating...yes he can do it by that date, no problem, good quote etc. The day before it was to be done we called. Skip was RUDE, told us we are keeping him from his work, and not to call..that he would call US when it was done. The next day it was supposed to be completed...we called He went off and hung up on us. The following day we went there. Skip had not even touched the engine. He came around the counter, and was screaming and yelling. He came at my husband, who was holding the block yelling. It was unreal, and unprofessional. We may be small potatoes, however we have many friends who are very big into boating, ATVs, PWCs etc. I would NEVER recommend this company or Skip to work on anything. read more
