Was looking for a brunch place in Hays when I came across the Paisley Pear on google. Times on…read moregoogle said the Pear opened at 9, but the sign on the door said they opened at 10. I walked around until they were open, as there was nothing else really open in the area. Unlike the cute quiches that are shown on their facebook page, nothing much was really available and it was still too early for any of the lunch entrees. I opted for some sort of pastry and a latte for $8.51 total. It was good, but I think I was looking for a little something else...

The decor is adorable and the gal who works the cafe regularly is just the sweetest. I've been in three times and dealt with her twice. She is so friendly and attentive. My second time there I had ordered lunch and the specialty latte of the day which was delightful. I was worried it would be really sweet as I generally only drink black coffee, but she did a super job. She mentioned that she gets to make those up herself and uses Pinterest for ideas which I just love, haha! The Jammin' Ham sandwich I got was the perfect sandwich. I will absolutely make myself a regular here. It's nice to have a spot like so soon after just moving here!

Russell Specialty Books came in and saved the day. Long story short, I thought I had a signed…read moreedition of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods on its way to me, only to find that a large retail bookseller who shall not be named could not find my pre-order. By the time I realized it, everyone locally was sold out. Russell Specialty books had it available, and unlike all the resellers online, they offered it for a wonderful price! The order was prompt, packaged well, and I'm so excited to add this book to my collection. And--you are so right--it's not hoarding if it's books.

This is one of the best Catholic gift stores I have ever visited. They had many of the gifts I…read moreexpected (i.e. crucifixes, rosaries, saint medals, etc.) but also specialized gifts that I have not seen at other stores such as Saint peg dolls for children, unique rosaries hand made by a local artisans and beautiful holy cards with vintage images and older prayers from a hundred years ago and more. My wife got me a beautiful rosary from here for Christmas that was corded with kevlar so that it is super strong and will last much longer and can be worn everyday. Lastly I found their selection of books to be helpful, in addition to the standard selection they had many hard to find books that I would not have even looked for but were a blessing to be found. One was a book for children receiving their First Holy Communion titled "Jesus Make Me Worthy" that included so many beautiful and holy prayers and images for my twin daughters and secondly was unique prayer book from Fr. Ripperger. I am looking forward to visiting again next time I am close to Hays.

I'm new to hays and decided to check out the city and go shopping for some shoes. I stumbled across…read morethis place since it's near my job. I had my mind set on the shoe I wanted to get, this blonde girl "lil" something (I can't remember but her name tag said that, assuming it's a nickname ) well her service was absolutely amazing!! I felt so welcomed and although I kept bothering her to bring me out a new shoe to try on, she did it all with a smile. She was so incredibly kind and patient. When it was time to pay I was having trouble with my payment and she recommended that I sign up for their program, for the most part I'm not a huge fan of rewards programs, but I got a pretty good deal. Besides the fact that it was my first time there and that the girl was super helpful, I definitely will be returning in the next week to see all their new additions in apparel and their footwear!
