They lost my paperwork, told me I had to reschedule after getting the script faxed over - called my doc and she had sent it - I even showed up the day before to make sure this place had my script but the guy at the front desk told me I had to make an appointment - I said ok but I just want to check - he said no that I need to make an appointment. I worked in medical lab setting for a few years. What I see here at this location is beyond poor service, It is gross! It seems like nobody knows what they are supposed to do, there are no protocols to follow, and there's no respect for patients time, or comfort. Today was the first time I've been here in a couple of years. And how things have changed! I was used to seeing "Jon Gosselin" but they must've hired all new staff. "Jon" was kinda cranky (can't blame him because I usually do the 5 AM walk-in to avoid waiting), so to see someone greet me as I signed in was refreshing. Also, the last time I got my blood drawn, my arm hurt like hell for a few DAYS! Anyway, they took down the pictures (*tear*), so I had to stare at a blank wall as they stuck the needle in me. The phlebotomist (same person who checked me in) said she'd try not to hurt me, which was nice. The thing I HATE is that they make you check the label after the vials are filled. LOL! I thought they did that to freak me out, but I understand why. Then I got to fill up the cup. Good times. My tip is to come here early in the morning if you can. I believe they open at 5 AM. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. It's hard to get up before 5, but so well worth not having to sit around in a cramped waiting room. read more

Had my annual check up today and was given the usual lab work order. I live in Seal Beach so figured I'd have to find time to make an appointment with the Quest Diagnostics in my area and be fasting that day. As I was leaving my doctor's office I noticed that there was a Quest Diagnostics right there on the same floor as my doctor. Since my doctor's appt was at 8:30 I had no time to eat or even have coffee beforehand so I was already fasting. Went into the Quest location right there and it was fantastic. They have it running like a well oiled machine; I signed in using their iPad, sat down and the large TV screen showed I was #8 on the list. I waited maybe 20 mins and was called in. In and out in less than 30 mins. Great experience! read more

This afternoon I took my 9 year old here for his first time having to have his blood drawn. Michael was absolutely wonderful. My son was freaking out and Michael jumped in to help and calm him down. Deseenee and Michael kept him calm and he was able to give blood. I'm so thankful to have met such nice people to help my son! read more

So, like other Yelpers I was a little hesitant to come here based on the reviews. I almost missed the turn in, which is at a light. And yes, there is a Carl's Jr. right in front of the place. I went in expecting the worst, especially since I had no appointment. I signed in at 7:22AM (I am not a morning person. I'm not waking up at 4AM to get my blood sucked out at 5AM--which is much earlier than other Quests are open, BTW), was back in my car at 7:38AM. Sure, the ladies at the front desk (I believe there were 3) might have accents, but c'mon people, this is Irvine. If you can't understand several dialects by now, then, I don't know. You're on your own. Good luck with life. The ladies are so darn pleasant, even at 7:22AM. They were joking around with each other, and with me (telling me I look younger than my age always wins in my book), while being professional with other patients as well. They were quick and efficient with paperwork, even when four people came walking in at the same time. I didn't have to wait long. I was called to the back (cue dramatic music--did I mention I'm not a fan of having my blood drawn?) and asked to sit down at one of 4 cubicles. There were 2 phlebotomists, one very pleasant sounding lady, and one very professional sounding man. The man was finishing up with another patient who tried to crack a joke, and the man gave a very straight answer. The lady I overheard making small chat with her patient. Of course, I wound up with the very professional man. That's not a terrible thing, mind you, but for someone who's not a fan of blood draws, I want to be as distracted as possible. As he checked and double checked my paperwork, I calmed a bit because he seemed efficient. When he took out 5 vials, I started to feel a little bit anxious again. I mentioned that that was a lot of vials, and that I've only ever done this once before, and he lightened up a lot. He talked me through what he was doing, told me when to turn away, told me when he was almost done, and seemed like a whole new person when we were done. He even cracked a joke--"Don't pass out on me." Hmm. That might not have been a joke. It might have been a suggestion... read more

Business has a continent location. Front desk person was terrible. Not the person you'd want as a contact person for your clients. Waiting room was packed. I signed in and he told me to take a seat with a rather rude tone. 40 min go buy and not one person was taken back. Finally a lady asked what's going on. He said our computer is down, I just take paper. She asked if this would effect our wait time. He said yes. Would have been nice to let us all know as we were waiting. read more

I took my son today for a lab today and had an horrible experience. The people work here are not the happiest people on earth, which I don't care. But when it comes to doing their job, they are horrible horrible and horrible. They are so unprofessional. They can't even keep track of sign in list. to cover that they lie lie and lie. I didn't know, I didn't hear I wasn't here etc. They made us wait over 45 mins, even we were first in line. The receptionist and blood lady who tried to drew my 5 years old son's blood twice, couldn't do it. and went to get her friend's help, looked so unprofessional! I asked her if she knew what she is doing, she couldn't even answer and ran away to get 'help' from her friend. They another person came and told us try a different location! Are you kidding me? Unbelievably long waiting time. 2-3 hours minimum. We need more competition in diagnostics industry, or apply anti-trust to break up Questdiagnostics. However I have to tell you that the technologist who collected my blood samples today has excellent skills. No excessive pain, no needle wiggling, no extra bleeding and vessel blues. Let me first say that I am a mother of three, and I can handle a baby crying. Today, I took my four month old child to get a blood test. This is the first time I went to Quest (per Dr.'s order.) The front clerk was nice enough, but the lady who drew blood was not only incompetent, but also disregarded the fact that my daughter was in pain. She poked my baby and tried to squeeze her blood out for 30 minutes unsuccessfully. I told her repeatedly that it is not working but she would not change her method. I finally stormed out. I will be going to Westcliff tomorrow. read more

I had an appointment at another location for later in the day but realized that there was a nearby location to where I was running errands so I decided to give it a try. My mother arrived at 10:00 am for a 10:15 am appointment. After 30 mins of waiting, my mother went to check what was going on and the receptionist replied there was another appointment at 10:00 am. The funny thing is, this 10:00 am appointment arrived at 10:20 am. Word of advice for the management, if a person does not show up to their appointment, you call the next available appointment. And your staff needs to be more welcoming and caring when speaking with patients. The best part of the lab was the phlebotomist Patricia. She is absolutely professional and embodies the spirit of a true health professional. read more

I've been to two Quest Diagnostics in the general vicinity, and this is leaps and bounds better than the other. Their hours are ideal if you work. If you don't have an appointment you can plan on a 45-60 minute wait time, but if you get your butt up early enough and bring a book or your ipad it's not a problem because you can make it into work on time! Without an appointment I've had no problem getting in at 6-6:30am and being processed in a timely manner. I'm pregnant and have had to take a few tests here and everyone that works here seems a little guarded at first, but they are all really friendly. Come on people they open at 5AM, who is HAPPY HAPPY at 5AM in the morning? They are there to do their job efficiently and they do. They draw the blood quick and painlessly as well and I've even had them crack a few jokes. Just be friendly and smile, it works wonders on people. ;) The waiting room in usually always clean and its an inviting environment unlike the one off Culver/Barranca that looks like it's out of a 1970 horror movie with horrible green walls and really dated chairs. Please give this place a chance, I have no clue why there are so many negative reviews! read more

Another blood test in 2 weeks?!? I'm not dying but came to Quest to take another blood test. The service here is good and efficient- they found my vein right away and were gentle in sucking my blood...eeks! Anyway, this is the one near Carl's Jr and I suggest coming here right when they open after lunch- 1PM or late afternoon. The morning is way too crowded and hectic! read more

So far so good amazing customer service! I was helped right away and began my glucose test with in 5 min of my arrival even with a full waiting room. The lady checking people in was excellent at her job and had a big smile on her face! As I was drinking my drink for my test I saw 3 other people come in from the other diagnostic center I just left which was a terrible place. This is the best testing center for my area! I went to have some tests done for my annual physical this May. Everything went ok and results came back normal and I was glad about it. However, they put a wrong code on the claim forms asking my insnsurance company to pay all the tests fees, and my insurance company, based on the code, denied to pay anything and I ended up paying them all. I paid about 1~2 days after getting the bill from Quest. However, I didn't know they put a wrong code and I found out after I spent hours on the phone for many days between the dr office, quest, and my insurance company, bearing heavy rudeness/impatience from all 3 parties. The fact, the dr put the correct code but quest got it wrong. Finally quest corrected the code and sent new claims to my insurance company and they sent new EOB back to quest which stated that I would be not responsible for all the test fees. Therefore, quest would need to reimburse me the money. It sounds like a happy ending in the end. NO. quest not only spent more than one month to get the check out to me, they also sent me the check to my old address which had me wait forever on top of their slow internal processing. after another few more phone calls they finally re-sent the check to me in this Nov. This is 6 months between May and Nov full of crap due to their fault. I, as a patient to the dr office and quest, or a member to the insurance comapny, should not do all these things myself at all from the very beginning to the end due to their carelessness/sloppiness. Even though it was mainly quest's fault, there was also a lot to complain about the dr office(but not so much about the insurance company). See my other post. in summary, you can still go there but i absolutely hate them. so to quest, FUCK YOU. it's not fair to those from quest who are hard working and responsible, but for my case , it was their mistake that caused me tremendous suffering to deal with all 3 parties to get my money back. read more

I arrived five minutes til 6 a.m., when they open, and there were, no joke, 12 people in front of me. I was here for a glucose screening test (a timed 1-hour test) so they gave me the drink right away. If I'd been here for blood work, they would've had me checked in within 20 minutes with a compete wait time of about 30 minutes (based on the person who checked in right in front of me). I had to get some blood work done so I decided to visit this particular location since it was located in the same building as my family doctor. I made an appointment for 9:45am but since I got there earlier (9am) the front desk suggested that I just put my name down for walk-in. There were 3 other patients before me and the wait was about 10 minutes. This was my first time getting a blood test so I did not know what to expect. The employee who collected my blood was Hai and he was awesome! Quick, professional, and put me at ease (I'm definitely not a fan of needles and blood!!!). 5 Stars for Hai!!! All of the negative reviews made me anxious to come to this lab, but it was open during the early morning hours, which means I didn't have to miss any work. I made a 6:45 am appointment and arrived a few minutes early. There was only one person waiting. I was taken in at my appointment time and waited a few moments inside before a phlebotomist was available. I have tricky veins and have had bad experiences before, but she was quickly able to find one. No pain, no mess. She was friendly, and I got to see the sunrise while my blood was getting taken. When I came back at 8 am to drop off something, I noticed the waiting room was considerably busier, and there was a new person behind the desk who was direct and not as friendly. My tip? Make an early morning appointment, and you'll have no problems. That being said, I don't like the "blood bar" layout here. read more

Me and My sister took her 2year old daughter to this place per Dr orders as she needs blood work. And my niece is fairly normal with needles some crying which is normal but this NURSE was HORRIBLE she fished for the vain on one arm and then she went on for the next arm and my niece cried so hard and was in pain which was apparent in her yelling but this lady just kept going. She was not kind what so ever we asked if she has ever dealt with children she said yes but I don't think she knows how to deal with children. As soon as they were done I ran out crying with my niece in hand, They were inconsiderate over all. The Nurse was not helpful what so ever and just told us to hold her down until it was over. She not only was rude but needs to learn to take blood because she could not and due to her stupidity my niece felt more pain then needed. We will never go back to this place EVER again and If you have young children please please don't go here and someone else wrote a review about them saying the same thing if you have a young child DONT put them through what my niece had to go through because I have never ever seen her in this type of pain. Please I urge you to tell your friends not to come here if dealing with children they are not family friendly. read more

There office is in the same building as my Dr. so I walked right down the half painted hall to get my blood work done. I came about 3ish and there was only one other person there. The "service" was very fast I was in and out in under 15 minutes. My problem is that my arm looks like one of a crack heads! OMG it has been nearly 2 weeks and I have lines of brownish yellow bruises a good 4 inches up from where she stuck me. I seriously look like I have track marks. NOT cool. This lab is by far the best Quest I've been to among other Quest labs nearby. I have been coming to this lab for a few years now and they have been very consistent with their excellent service with great attitude and superb check in efficiency. They also have very professional technician to draw your blood. Definitely come to this location rather than the other one down the street. read more

I always give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they get there act together. This is the closest location to my home. I always get here right after they open... and low and behold... there's a freak'n wait already!! One receptionist.. one phlebotomist.. and they both move slower than molasses!! First time I went to this location, they had everyone in and out very quickly. I was impressed! This time it was very inefficient. One of the check-in tablets was having problems, patients were called up twice before being taken back for their test. Two workers started taking insurance cards and paperwork instead of getting the patients cleared from the waiting room. Having said that, I am happy that they open at 6am, just wish this staff was as efficient as last time. read more

I was at the lab in the afternoon. After a short wait.. There was nobody waiting... I was directed to a room to get my blood drawn. No technician was there, but vials of patient's blood and urine were in plain site. Where is the security and patient privacy? Anyone could have contaminated or even taken these specimens. Finally a technician came in, and I expressed my concern to her. She shrugged and did not seem to express any concern. She said something like oh, at the end of the day we scan to make sure all specimens are accounted for. I will never go back again. read more

The best time to go for your lab work is either get an appointment or go very early around when they start in the morning. I tried for the appointment first but their appointment system is so lousy that I had to keep repeating. Anyway, my review is not on that. I went early on Friday Morning around 8.15 a.m. and there was not a single person waiting which surprised me as I was getting ready to wait a long time since I did not get the appointment at the time I needed. I was asked to immediately get the Lab work done after entering a few details in the IPad at the receptionist desk. They showed real professional polite service and I was very impressed with the person who was taking my blood sample. I requested her to check the amount that I need to pay before I do the blood work and she obliged. She was so good at extracting the blood sample that I did not even feel a needle being pricked and at one go instantly. Her name is Sandra Ngo. Polite, fast, caring and very efficient. Good Job. First experience- waited 90 minutes to have blood drawn while fasting w/o an appointment. Desk staff spoke poor english. Second experience- waited 45 minutes for same procedure with an appointment. Go elsewhere if you have a job or just hate sitting around a bunch of sick people as making an appointement is ineffective at reducing wait times. Don't call them either because the person answering the phone most likely will not speak english. Any medical professional can take your blood and run a test and bill your insurance company. Why not take your business to an establishment that will respect your time. read more
