We had many issues with our Mom's care at Care Haven. They stage the homes for people looking for…read morea place for their loved ones, but the normal day to day experience for the residents is not like that. There was only one excellent geriatric caregiver during the time our Mom was there. Most of the others were mediocre - two were poor. One was abusive. More time was spent in food prep than in helping with the needs of the residents. Families of residents don't want to complain because of how that complaint will potentially affect their loved one's care. They are stuck in a house without much to do but be stuck in front of a TV, with rare outside activities, no crafts, no reading, games etc...but the meals were good. Our Mom needed help eating and was not given assistance except by the one wonderful employee- who was only there 3 days a week. You are at the mercy of the one person who works there - who is just hired to fill a vacancy. I could say more, but keep looking.

She gets nervous when people come into the home and I'm not there which makes pet sitting a challenge - so much so that she was fired as a client by the service I used in Chicago. Enter Newman's. Not only are both sitters, Emma and Christine, lovely people, they handled Edna in stride. They are awesome about sending texts after every visit and give me updates and details so it never feels like they're just checking a box. Christine has been our go-to and she's just awesome...noticing things like new food bowls and finding nice things to say about my salty Edna. I always look forward to her texts when I'm away. The owner, Jena responds to requests immediately (even when she's on vacation) and never has a problem with last-minute schedule changes. Overall, the level of service is truly exceptional - I highly recommend Newman's if you're looking for someone to take amazing care of your pets while you're away.

My granddaughter had been home for the past year due to Covid and really didn't want to go but we convinced her, and I'm so glad we did. The staff was beyond sweet and welcoming, the facility clean and organized, a large variety of creative and educational toys, and lots of indoor space to run jump and play. When I came to pick her up I heard her laughs the moment I opened the door. The staff said she had been having so much fun that she and agreed for me to sneak out and let her play some more. When she did come home she was exhausted, excited, and full of stories to tell. She was up, dressed, breakfast ate, and lunch packed (optional) an hour before we were supposed to leave, and this girl is so very not a morning person! Their prices are awesome, currently $8 per hour or $56 for 7-10 hours, and $4 for lunch if you choose to eat there. It's a drop in facility with extended evenings for those afternoon workers, and you only pay for the hours you are there. I highly recommend checking them out. Your kiddo won't be disappointed.

The awful - they kept getting basic details about my family wrong. It's like they follow some formula and if you don't fit for whatever reason, they won't adjust. When dealing with trauma, that's pretty problematic. They also promised things that they didn't deliver on. I wish they wouldn't had offered at all. I regret asking them for help or acknowledging any struggles that I was having as a parent. They helped my kid somewhat. They encouraged my kid to play violently and wouldn't address the way in which my kid's violent play is problematic - and it's escalated. They make me feel like I'm a bad parent for trying to address it even though my kid is having major issues around it. They denied that my kid is Neuro divergent even though they clearly are. And a babysitter who specializes in it has confirmed it. My kid and i just doesn't fit into their cookie cutter services. Maybe your will.
