Stayed recently for a concert. Checked in and did not come back until night time to sleep. In the morning when we woke up to shower and get ready to leave, we turned on the water and it was brown. I recently booked a two night stay for my Mom and Daughter while our AC was out of service. It was an average and economical place to stay nearby. However, four hours after the stay, I received a call from the front desk informing me that our card would be charged $200 because housekeeping reported a smoke smell in the non-smoking room. None of us smoke. Customer Service for Choice Hotels indicated they could do nothing about it. With no options for recourse for charges based on supposition, I do not recommend booking at the Quality Inn in St Charles - West Chicago. read more

We stay here twice a year, once in spring and once in fall. We've been staying here since about 1997. We've seen changes. During the 20 teens, my husband checked us in. The clerk recognized my husband. Another time, an employee waved at me as I sat in our vehicle. We accepted that our room or laundry was usually a hike down some long halls and sometimes up stairs and that there was no elevator. It was obvious they were working on some rooms. Linens are not top quality but acceptable. Beds were okay. Sometimes there was a mildew smell but I expect it in a humid area. Things were mostly clean. This trip, I found long hair obviously not mine on the bathroom wall, updated shower and a crooked towel rack. Towel rack for hand towel is nice touch. I'm always complaining that there is no place to put the hand towel and face cloth except taking up valuable space on the vanity and growing germs from dampness on the vanity. During Covid, they offered a breakfast in a bag. We never tried it. This past weekend, the only hot dish was a waffle and coffee, no eggs and no meat. They offered one variety of bagels, four varieties of cold cereal and yogurt flavors were limited. I did manage to flip the door security when I went to check my laundry. I walked down to the front desk ( probably a half block) to get help. The clerk was very helpful and was able to get my door open for which I was very grateful. He was getting off work in 15 minutes to spend time with his mother on Mothers' Day. My truly biggest complaint and the one to break the camel's back IS THE POT. My husband and I do not smoke. We do not smoke pot. I truly do not appreciate the "skunky" smell. In the future, we will be looking for lodging elsewhere. First thing I noticed when we checked in was the condition of the U.S. flag. We are veterans. It is disgraceful. The other flag was in such poor condition, I am not sure if it was the IL state flag or the corporate flag. read more

The owners are blatant THIEVES!! These owners are THIEVES!!! Once they have your credit card number they feel free to charge you for anything they want to and you have ZERO RECOURSE thru Choice Hotels since this is a franchise. NEVER AGAIN will I stay at a Choice Hotels property after staying here!! I told the front desk clerk that I had a certified service animal when I checked in. Per this hotel's listing, service animals do not incur any extra charges (and it's ILLEGAL if they do). On my THIRD day there I received a call from the manager informing me that I am being charged an additional $100 because I was assigned a room that was not pet friendly. What?? I was ASSIGNED that room and was already there THREE days and then charged. This place discriminates against people with disabilities, plain and simple. I was told that even Certified support animals are NOT welcome without a $100 fee to disinfect the room. My pup does NOT shed, left no messes in the room, was quiet and no one was bothered by him. I am in the process of disputing this charge and have contacted an ADA Attorney and will be pressing charges against this owner. I had selected this hotel because of the lowest price in the area and it turned into the most expensive place in the area. I was on a budget and this man had no empathy for me as a person. Also, my room was not cleaned once while I was there, the people in the room next to me were smoking pot and the smell seeped into the hallway and apparently that was allowed. This was a very lovely hotel. We were here for two nights while performing a show at the Arcada theater. Very nice and knowledgeable staff and service! Beds were very comfortable and rooms were quiet. Breakfast was hot and rooms were also very clean. I have to mention that although previous reviews are not great, I didn't encounter any of the issues that people had in past reviews. I took two photos. The first is their Hospitality Promise. They guarantee your room is to your liking, if not satisfied, they will give you a refund. This is a rare guarantee that I have never seen at any other hotel! Also, since I didn't need service in my room on the first night, I hung out the "Do Not Disturb" sign. They actually placed a notice under my door that they weren't able to come in due to the notice on my door. I had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much! read more

Booked online with Priceline. It was what we paid for, nothing too special. Clean, accommodating, it's a hotel.

I've stayed in the hotel since mid March and the place smells like skunk. I've complained about it because I am in a non-smoking room. Tonight, I called the front desk to let her know that it smells like skunk where I got in, but she said that she cannot do anything about it because smoking pot is legal in Illinois. That's her best customer service. I told her that I clean my own room, and no one seems to take care of my ONE COMPLAIN. She simply said that if someone smoking pot outside and some of the smell came in, there is nothing that she can do. I asked her if there is something that can suck in the smell for the non-smoking rooms, she said she can let them know. I don't know who those people she was referring to, but for a paid customer who does not ask for more, even wash my own towels, I don't deserve to be treated like I don't pay at all. I've been to the ER for suffocation reaction because of the smoke problem here. I don't think that paying what I am paying is worth it. I felt that I paid to get sick here. Good customer service should take care of the complaints, not reason out to avoid working harder. Just for the tonight's built up bad experience should allow me to post this review without giving a single star. I am frustrated. read more

I stay here sometimes and I haven't had a bad experience so far. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Comforter is not too thin not too thick. Some hotels HVAC systems stink up the room (burnt smell) when you turn on the heat and this did not. The breakfast isn't gourmet, but it's filling for something to eat before work. They even have a waffle maker. The TV is a decent size. They don't offer a TV guide in the room though, which sucks when you have a little one who wants to watch cartoons... I spent 15 minutes just to find something. Microwave and fridge in the room. I wouldn't use the coffee maker though (they have coffee in the lobby). Check in was easy and fairly quick. The front desk lady was informative and pleasant. No noise from other guests. If you're on the first floor you have easy access to your car and can park by your room. If you need somewhere for a night or two you should stay here, they always have reasonable prices and offer enough for it's price range. The Geneva Motel Inn charges about the same prices and it is a nightmare over there. All in all 4 star experience. read more

Unprofessional staff. Nobody knew what they were talking about. They pre authorized my credit card for $95. Then charged me for 2 days. Had to wait 4 days for the first charge to drop off. It was a big deal to me. Also room card didn't work in the middle of the night. Night manager was rude. Check in manager was rude. Breakfast was average at best. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. I don't know how old these reviews are or where they came from BUT I just spent 2 nights here. The staff was exceptional with helping me with my temporary disability. My room was immaculate and well equipped with everything I needed. Yes, it smelled smokey but duh, I requested a smoking room. Yes, there were stairs and It was rough but I knew that going in. The staff took care of getting all of my things up and in my room for me when I checked in and down when I left. One of the female staff members even drove my car around to a more convenient door for me to access the building. I was there for the Chicago Pipe show and guess where I will be staying next year???? Too bad they don't allow tipping. That needs to be addressed. read more

Let me start by saying my stay was great, but it started off rocky due to an error on my part. While the amenities were good, the reason I am writing this review is to commend Ashley on her hard work and friendly disposition through out my time there. I showed up with an ebooking through a third party vendor with the wrong date. My father and his dog were out in the car waiting and I was about to have a panic attack, but she calmly and professionally handled the situation in a way that I am so grateful for. Terrible place. Smells like mildew. Bad AC. ( constantly turns on and off every 30sec and is loud.) Was in the handicap suite ( did not request a handicap- and paid extra for a suite) which smelled of mildew and urine (dogs allowed). Terrible that this is their handicap room. They moved me to another room which was less smelly but none the less still smelly. Also their pack and play is from the 80s and they do not use a fitted sheet which is a safety risk for infants! I see other good reviews but they must be fakes. This was the worst hotel ever. One floor is hardly ever used because it's not busy. I had this booked for 2 nights and canceled the second. The manager gave me a whole 20% off! Thanks for cutting short my vacation. I will never stay at a quality inn again. read more

All good til we get to our room (which was quite a haul with all the stuff we brought) Get to room -open door- bolt locked from inside. Call front desk and he comes and is trying to open door with a tool as we stand in hallway with all our crap on floor. 20 minutes after getting to our room we ask for another room please Room #2. We get in and all good. We started getting ready for concert have some drinks eating chip cheese and dips we brought and when we are ready to leave --we go to put all the food into fridge to find it warm as hell. We call down and he comes up and says it is busted do u want another room. Really? Another room? We say that we have to go and no time to pack all our stuff and move to another room and since we had food that needed refrigeration we hurried up and threw everything in backpack and carried it back to my car to leave in trunk. Guy says talk to manager tmw about our inconvenience Next day they tell me mgr will call me which of course he never did. I called this morning to here that our inconvenience means nothing. They said they would sign me up for reward card and give me 500 pts. A bit of an insult to me Anyway if you want QUALITY then dont stay here. 2 rooms later and we still never got what we paid for which were working appliances!!! And to keep moving people to other rooms and thinking that is acceptable is a poor way to manage a hotel. Lots of hotels in the area for same price. I would advise to go to one of them. Stayed here a few nights recently and I am not sure I would stay here again. Pros- comfy bed, mini fridge and microwave in room. TV has adquate cable. Outdoor pool if you want it. Unlike another reviewer mentioned we had good water pressure. There is a breakfast offered but we did not try it so we cannot speak to it. Cons- Sticky carpet so must keep shoes next to bed, hotel is HOT ...no air conditioning turned on until you get to room and turn on the slow ac that does eventually cool things down but you may want to go out for an hour or so on a particulalry hot day so it has time to kick in, noisy people stay here but not the hotels fault, slow check-in, also we had put a do not disturb sign on our door the second day of our stay and went to breakfast....when we came back our room had been sort of cleaned with the bed made and 2 new towels and our belonings had been moved....nothing was taken but it felt weird to have someone move our personal things around. I am fine if they have a policy that the room MUST be cleaned each day instead of every other day but it would be nice if they waited until the do not disturb sign was down. Our clean underwear and pjs ended up on the sticky wet floor instead of the chair we had things folded on and my phone was moved off charger to the bedside table. Again, nothing was taken but it just felt strange that they still came in with do not disturb sign up and that they moved things onto the sticky floor that also made everything we had feel wet. They also didn't empty the trash bins or wipe down the bathroom as far as we could tell which would have been nice while they were already in the room. The bathroom is decently nice but their is some orange stuff in the tub grout but it might be rust or something and not poor cleaning. Overall if you need a cheaper place to stay and just sleep it's not horrible but honestly not great either. read more

I run a news organization that uses Comfort properties a lot, but we're striking this one off the list -- which is a shame because the location is good. LONG time to check in, room's lock was barely usable (with lot of 'play' evident--would have been REALLY easy to force it open), fair amount of very small insects in the room (looked like fleas), rusted bath tub with painted repairs that cut my feet on the edge of a thick painted section that had peeled away from the tub, MASSIVE noisy party upstairs that the staff refused to do anything about... even at 0400, poor wifi, carpets were sticky with whatever they used to clean them, A/C slow to respond and barely adequate for the purpose, and so on. Worse; upon return home, several days later, I find charges equating THREE nights stay when ONE night was all we could stand and for which we were supposed to be billed. Beware! read more

This hotel has the best pricing in the area. Not as low as super 8 or geneva motel but honestly the rooms are twice as nice. The staff are friendly, and we visit grandma more than once a year so they worked out a good rate for me and my son as well. The breakfast is more than just a basic continental breakfast, which I usually dont bother waking up on time for so getting up a little early is worth it. I wasn't sure about this place after quality inn took over from holiday inn but I recommend checking it out. read more
