The worst experience, not worth saving $50.
When the instructor didn't show up for the first class and we had zero communication about it, that should have been a red flag.
Then COVID hit and classes were put on pause (completely understandable!) Our son had already finished classes and had 1 drive left, and then his written and driving test, which was included in the class. We waited patiently, checking every few weeks since it wasn't completely clear with state guidelines when a driving school could open back up.
2 weeks before his 16th birthday, he saw through snapchat that a friend had started class so we reached out to the instructor, who sometimes didn't respond to us at all. When he didn't respond, I called the office.
Here is where our real issues started.
The office person, who handles all locations and instructors, told us that his instructor had broken a leg (this fact is unfortunately important to remember) and it would be another month before we could schedule the drive. I asked why another instructor couldn't just do the drives, as with any company, when an employee is out sick, the company (the office) handles getting other employees to take over their work. I told her that our son turns 16 in two weeks so waiting a month (plus extra time for the tests) was going to be heartbreaking. Her response was that the other instructors were busy with their own classes and needed to schedule drives for their new students. I told her that the priority for scheduling drives should be getting kids who were already done with class, or had very few drives left, through the program. She told me that the kids like staying with their instructor for the entire program. I told her that our son actually didn't like his instructor because he was not professional, regularly had them to through drive thru's on drives so he could get food and that I'm pretty sure a 16 year old cares more about getting their licenses than taking a drive with someone they will never see again. She told me she would schedule the drive for in 1 month. I took it just to make sure we had something scheduled.
2 minutes later she called me back saying that they found someone else to do the drive and scheduled for two days later. Then she called me the next day confused about what time/date/driver she had told me and asked me what I had written down.
THEN she called me AGAIN the day of the drive (2 hours before the drive) to make sure she had it correct.
As soon as he finished his last class drive I called and scheduled the written test. When he took the written test I called and scheduled the driving test. The day after I scheduled the driving test, she called AGAIN confused about the day/time/location/driver and wanted to make sure she had it correct.
As soon as he passed the driving test, I contacted her to ask how it is put in the system, to make sure that since the DOL is not open, we could get the license online as soon as possible. She told me, through text, "We put in just after testing before we leave the building"
At this point we were waiting for the 6 months to be up so we couldn't get the license immediately so we weren't looking online to see an update.
2 weeks later I get a text, from a number I don't recognize, asking for our sons DL number so they can put it in the system (so not same day before leaving the building?!). 3 days later I look online to get his license and it is saying that he hasn't completed his driving course yet. I called the office and her response was "Oh, what is his name and I'll send it in" - I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS ISN'T DONE AUTOMATICALLY!!!! I ask her this and her response is that the instructor usually does it but he was out sick with COVID it wasn't done, I tell her that I'm pretty sure she is lying since last time she told me he broke his leg and that again, if an employee is out sick, you can't just leave the students high and dry and that Quality Driving School has the responsibility to make sure it is done. Her response...."No, I told you that my son broke his shoulder".
In no world does her son's health effect the driving instructors ability to drive so that doesn't even make sense.
She takes zero accountability over the fact that the program should have picked up the slack for the instructor being out (no issues with staff being out - stuff happens, but the company cannot just drop those students like they don't matter, and have zero communication with the students or families, they should figure out where all the students are at in the program and take care of it). read more
