I have tried to deal with this company on two occasions.
The first time in 2011 or 2012 I called them to do a cleanup after some sewage back up into the basement. Someone came to take pictures, said that he would send me an estimate and then I never heard from them again. Ended up doing the cleanup myself.
Had another sewer back up this week. All I wanted was the cement floors cleaned, disinfected and steam cleaned. Maybe replace one baseboard.
They said that they would send over someone to do an estimate.
A woman came by, told me that they would send a two member team to clean up, but that there was a 3 hour minimum. Since I knew the job would take no longer than 2 hours, I asked whether they could spend the last hour cleaning the garage. She said that they could disinfect it (even though it wasn't involved in the back flow problem), but could not clean it, as they don't do regular cleaning.
Next, she told me that I would be charged for cleaning fluid, but she wouldn't know until the job was done how much that would cost.
Next she told me that it was obligatory that I rent a HEPA air filter for at least 2 days, but maybe it would be more, and she couldn't tell me until the job was deemed to be finished by Qualinet, and not when I decided the job was over.
Next I was obliged to rent a dehumidifier from them, even though I already have a dehumidifier installed and despite the fact that her humidity tester machine tested negative for all but the floors. She then would also decide whether I needed to replace the walls, although they obviously had not been affected.
I would need to rent the dehumidifier for a few days, but she couldn't tell me how many days. They would only remove the rented dehumidifier when they decided it was time.
As for the estimate, she said that she could only tell me how much the job would cost AFTER it was finished, and that I was not permitted to decide when I could terminate the work. It would cost between $600-$1200, but maybe more, if they decided to do more work. Another poster describes a small cleanup that cost $2000.
So in summary, they will not give you an estimate and ask you to give them carte blanche to do whatever they want to do.
If I didn't agree to all the extras, they wouldn't take the job.
Beats me why they would refuse an easy $300 just to clean the floors, but they preferred not to do the job without the extras.
These companies are mainly are in business to rip off insurance companies. They are not interested in private contracts where somebody is actually watching what they do.
In the end, I hired another company (reviewed elsewhere) and was very pleased with the service and price. read more
