It seems like Charlotte lacks nice public swimming pools, at least close to Center City. Therefore, I was excited to check out Charlotte Swim & Racquet Club. The pool area is all the things you'd want in a swimming opportunity - large, clean and plenty of amenities. Three cheers for the concession bar; not only is it shaded, but it's filled with options! Even though I was there during a holiday weekend, the staff was helpful and even a bit cheery. This was a huge feat considering how many excited children were running about. I didn't spend too much time checking out the courts, but from what I saw they looked very nicely kept. Here's hoping I get another invite to da club come summer!

When I first joined, the staff themselves would add eucalyptus to the sauna water to create a pleasant aroma. Because that had been their normal practice, I asked if eucalyptus could be added again. Instead, a staff member accidentally added the wrong product, which created a strong burning smell in the sauna. Rather than taking responsibility for their own mistake, they blamed me for what happened and canceled my membership. What disappointed me most was not the mistake itself--everyone makes mistakes--but how it was handled. Instead of acknowledging the error and resolving the situation professionally, they chose to blame a loyal customer who had been coming there for nearly a year. I expected much better customer service and accountability. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this sauna.
