I quite frequently made the trip to QU Books in Toowong during my undergrad to save a bit of money on textbooks. I don't know how QU Books works, whether its affiliated with UQ or independent, but they have access to the UQ course reading lists, so stock pretty much all books you'd be looking for as a UQ student. In comparison with the Co-Op Bookshop at UQ, the books here at QU are about 10% cheaper. The only downside to QU is that it's a bit out of the way. In fact, if you're driving, it's fine, but if you're coming by public transport, it's a little annoying.
However, they do offer a few good services that make shopping there a bit more convenient. Throughout the first week or two of semester, they offer a courtesy bus that leaves from the roundabout near Chancellor's Place at UQ and goes directly to QU Books. For times, check the website. If you order and pay online, spending more than $50, you get free delivery and for students who live at college (on campus), delivery to the college reception is free.
When bought brand new, textbooks are expensive, so if wanting to save some money, I highly recommend QU Books. read more
