This is solely based off of customer service. Today, my office placed an order for lunch. We faxed a written order with their own order form, and we also called and confirmed it. Twice. I went to pick up the order, get back to the office, and we were all missing the other half of our lunches. Well, that's not true; we got the chips. But no queso. I called back to say there was a mistake, and the manager (Gloria) IMMEDIATELY got way too defensive, and started and continued to talk over me. She informed me we filled in the forms incorrectly. Fine. I went on to explain we had placed orders just like this before, with no issue, and received everything without hiccup. "Ma'am it does not matter. It was wrong this time and that's that. I'm sorry but I care about my customers but you filled it out wrong. I don't know about those other times but this times you were wrong, it's not my fault." EXCUSE ME?! 1) This was a lunch order for 10 people that got screwed up, you could be a little more sensitive and pleasant. 2) You are seriously a manager with that attitude? 3) You have permanently lost our business. I understand we filled out the form wrong. That's totally fine. But, when you go about to tell someone they did it wrong, DO NOT belittle them or speak over them. She didn't even offer to give us free queso to make up for it. Not that we were expecting it, but it would have been nice after being insulted by a "manager". Such a shame because we love their food. When I first started going to Qdoba (in D.C.), I thought it seemed like a rip-off of Chipotle. But the more I visit Qdoba (now going to the one in Fairfax) the more I find things I like that are different. My all-time go-to favorite here is the quesadilla. They are delicious! The guac and sour cream comes on the side (yay - no extra charge for guac!) and the chicken quesadilla is huge in size and taste. Honestly, I have yet to try much else here since I'm so enamored with the quesadilla. :) It's never too crowded, so no wait for service during my precious lunch time. And yet, it's not dead so you don't feel like, what's wrong with this place? The store is clean and comfortable and they have a TV, so you can catch up on the news during your lunch. read more

Meh. That sums it up. After taking what seemed like twenty minutes to get the workers to understand what I said. They proceeded to mess up my order and make me never want to try this place again. There's nothing special about this place. It's average. It's ok. It's meh but for price, not worth it at all. I have been dining at this Place for nearly 10 years. I personally like this place much better than Chipotle. My favorite is the Fajita Burrito which was fresh crunchy vegetables. I love Qdoba and have been eating it for years. However, I got a 3 cheese nacho at this location to go and when I got home to eat it the chips were very stale! It ruined the whole meal. Service was great... just don't get anything with chips from this one. read more

The secret to Qdoba is the queso. Not only is it good, but it compliments almost all of the menu offerings. This Qdoba is kind of tucked away and in a busy area, but the inside is large enough to handle the lunch rush. I had a steak queso burrito and it was made just right (probably because I had a hand in creating it). The portions are huge which is to be expected in a place like this. I didn't have to wait at all and the place was semi crowded which was a bonus. Maybe I came just after the lunch rush. The staff was pleasant and followed my order directions perfectly. The place was clean and well stocked near the soda machine. The only downside to this location is that the parking lot is not large and there are several others stores nearby. This means that sometimes you have to drive around for a minute to find a spot. The good news is that people come and go enough to make this just a minor issue. In the end I'm a big fan of Qdoba and it is nice to have one near my work. *This business is gun carry friendly. read more

Regrettably, this Old Town Fairfax location has poor food quality (C- to D+) and the worst management and customer service (double F) that we have ever experienced at the chain. The food tends to taste watered down and rubbery (e.g., chicken, and soups) and the guacamole tends to be inconsistent in quality. Although we sympathize with the staffers, they are poorly trained and make many logistical and operational mistakes FREQUENTLY. This location historically has slow service (even when the restaurant is not operating at full capacity) and their staffers constantly make pricing errors when ringing up orders. This has happen to our party at least 3 times. This last (and final) visit, it took the staffer over 40 minutes to issue a refund for a calculation error. That was after finishing our meal, waiting several more minutes, and inquiring 3 times of the delay in issuing a simple refund. We tried to give this location the 'good old college try,' however, it has failed us. We will not be returning and we will not be recommending this Old Town Fairfax location to any of our collegiates and friends; there are too many other options in the area. I wish Virginia was more like California in placing food rating on the outside of the food establishments. This one deserves a well deserved "D minus." Two palms down. Way down. read more

The lady behind the counter seems to have personality issues...she was snickering and rolling her eyes when I asked her for more sour cream. Kinda annoyed! Went in to order 6 meals for my family. Was rushed and when I tried to explain what we wanted the person was very rude. They got my order wrong and just looked at me like it was my fault. They gave us small portions and barely helped. They attended more to the Latina family behind us, have them hugger portions, and spoke with them pleasantly in Spanish. I went here for the first time yesterday, and it was the reason I opened the yelp account!!! There has been a lot of buzz around Fairfax area for Qdoba Mexican Grill, and I have to say that It was mediocre food. The price was good and the service was good. The Food really just lacked any real flavor. I had the burrito with chicken and had them make it extra spicy for me. It was definitely behind Chipotle! I haven't been to this establishment in several months and am just getting around to writing this so HOPEFULLY something had changed but it's too late for me as they have permanently lost my service. The workers here are RUDE and will talk crap in Spanish about you (my husband is Hispanic and understood every mean word they said). They consistently got orders wrong and when my husband pointed out they were putting the wrong food in the woman had the nerve to say that he was lucky he was getting anything. We've been to Qdobas across Maryland and Virginia and never encountered such rude service as we did every single time here. I was so happy to see a "Now Open" sign in Old Town Fairfax advertising a Qdoba that's really close and felt I HAD to drop in. It's a little hard to find at first because it's not really on street level but below the Starbucks and to the right of the Quiznos. They just opened and the layout is crisp, modern. The customer service was on point but you could definitely tell they were inexperienced and a little nervous, but that is expected of a brand new restaurant. Qdoba, I think, is a cross between Chipotle and Baja Fresh. You can order Fajitas, Burritos according to your taste, and point to the things you want, very much like Chipotle, however there are pre-set menu items like salads and even gumbo kinda like Baja Fresh. It's also a little cheaper than Chipotle nowadays. After having Qdoba's at Georgetown, I opted for the 3-cheese nachos with chicken for $6.09. I got heaping ladle-fulls of beans, cheese, salsa, and chicken and quickly sat down to eat at the nearly empty restaurant. I thought the chicken was really good, the blend of spices was delicious but maybe could've had a little more salt. And everything else tasted really really fresh, like the tomatoes and greens, which I liked. My two friends also had chicken burritos and thought they were delicious too. They thought the chicken was marinated just right. Next time I'll know which things to add to make it really good. Overall, I really like the place and the food and feel like it offers good competition to Baja Fresh and Chipotle. I will most definitely come back again to try the different options it offers!!! read more

The wonderful bowls of brown rice and heafty portions of steak, covered in salsa caliente, remind me of the days of old back in mi Pueblos, when Mama and Papa would cook dinner for all of us after our afternoon fiestas. My family has ordered food from this Qdoba on numerous occasions and there is no consistency. We typically pay for extra meat and sometimes we feel like we get it, but more often they skimp on the meat. If I'm paying $2.50 for extra meat, I expect a generous portion. This franchise has also decided to start charging $2 for queso, which is not indicated on the mobile ordering process. We will not be going back to this location. read more

After calling to confirm they were doing this deal, they refused when I went to pay for our order. This is the fourth time I have walked out without food after this place messed something up. Twice for screwing up deals (charging for queso and guac?) and twice for not paying attention to what I wanted on my burrito (just meat and rice? Well I'm not an expert on Mexican food so I don't really have a basis for this stuff. I don't know if it was too spicy, too oily, or just too plain, I can however say that some of the reviews on here aren't entirely true. I cam here one weekend with a friend and we had a fine meal with spicy kick to it. The service wasn't as bad as everyone seems to think. The line was short and fast which was nice factor to our meal and the food took about 15 minutes to reach our table. Like I said I'm not an expert in Mexican cuisine but the food was definitely filling and delicious at least for me, but that may just be because it was so new, and the service gave me nothing to complain about. read more

The staff is extremely friendly and the food taste really good. They also have a 10% discount if you show a student ID. They only reason they won't get a 5 star from me is for the fact that as good as their food is, I still can't compare it to Chipotle. I am quite well-versed in the Chipotle/Qdoba/California Tortilla/others world since I eat a lot and don't like to spend a lot of money. I even worked at a Qdoba for 3 summers. This Qdoba is particularly generous and consistent. Their hot foods are hot and their cold foods are cold. Today, the air conditioning was broken (high was 98 today) and they were still friendly. To me, that says something. They also have lots of store-specific deals for this location. I have never had anything but excellent dishes here and have not had a sub-par batch or rice, meat, or anything else. I will certainly keep coming to this location from Alexandria. read more

One of the best fast casual burrito places out there, the new Fairfax store recently opened and they're working out the bugs and the new college aged workers. The ambiance might feel a touch more intimate because of the low ceilings but this 6'2" guy did just fine. Be sure to try out their melty quesedillas or an order of queso and chips. It's a great sauce that they offer as a burrito or bowl that provides a mild to medium heat that's not too spicy. Great fresh flavors without being too spicy unless you want it to by adding sauces. Great kids menu offerings and on weekends kids eat free per purchased adult entree. If you dig it, you can also sign up for their loyalty card, the new punch cards, it's an electronic card that stores points per entree purchased that earns you free chips & queso and even entree items. Stopped by this location for lunch and I was pleased with my food but not with the price. I opted for a burrito bowl with rice, black beans, fajita veggies, other veggies, cheese, lettuce, pico, and guac. The rice was very fresh as were the other ingredients, and I would say that this bowl was way better than any bowls I've had at Chipotle in Northern Virginia. The guacamole was also delicious! The location is very clean, nearly spotless. The downside is that I got a veggie bowl and had to pay extra for guacamole and also had to pay extra for the veggies on my bowl that were not fajita veggies (squash and zucchini). Guac is free at Chipotle, so this really burns me. Again, great food and yucky price! read more

Good place that gives you all the fixings! I put three cheese queso and bacon queso on my burrito with guacamole and didn't have to pay extra for it. They queso they have is great and should be put on anything you get from there! Pros: Fresh and delicious food at good prices. Sign up for the reward program, buy ten entrees and get one entrée for free. Cons: Sometimes, they are a little stingy when you want one extra salsa. It depends who you get as a cashier; half the times I get it for free and the other half I get charged for it. I recently came in for a special deal and had a bad experience. The supervisor made up some stupid requirement that was not specified in the email coupon or store promotion board. I ended up not getting my deal and was very angry about that. Here is another pro about Qdoba, at the end of your receipt there is a website to submit a survey. I submitted a survey explaining how I felt cheated. Within the same day, the franchise area Supervisor emailed me to apologize and offer compensation. This place is not perfect but I am glad they value my business. read more

A friend showed me this place. At first I was like "meh, this is just like Chipotle, but with more options", but after a while it became "oh yeah, this place is really good, it's like Chipotle, but with more options". I ordered the 3 chicken tacos. Not too shabby, but not much better than Taco Bell. I like Taco Bell, so that's not a bad thing, but the prices are higher than TB. They don't have any spicy salsa and they don't do soft shell corn tacos. They have hard shells which I don't think were made in the restaurant. The chicken was yummy and so were the toppings. Nice crunchy taco shell was good too. However, nothing really stood out here. Maybe I'll try the burritos next time. The food is decent. I would summarize this place as Taco Bell Quality at slightly higher than Chipotle prices. I still prefer Chipotle. read more

When a business brags a lot about a particular item on the menu, the question arises of whether it's merited or just an attempt to sell more product. In the case of the chips at Qdoba, which they pride on making fresh daily, the hype is unwarranted. Luckily, I just sampled some out of the kids meal rather than getting suckered into buying them, as they do not give out free chips like most non-Chipotle burrito shops. The chips tasted like store brand from a bag. I ordered a chicken burrito with black beans, rice, salsa verde, queso sauce, and corn. When I began to eat it, I really liked how the queso added an extra kick and melded well with the green salsa, but my burrito was mostly empty carbs. I felt like I was having a rice roll up. The chicken was very sparse, far less than I've had anywhere else. I ate the guinea pig sized thing in maybe three minutes, but didn't even feel full, despite its girth. I make a point of trying all the Chipotle knock offs in hopes of striking gold (District Taco=perfection). This place does not warrant a return visit. read more
