One of the most incredible experiences of my life. The Patio staff really take special care of you. We were a group of 9 experienced riders and we road the whole island over six days. However you can stay at this lodge with or without riding, and I would highly recommend it. The staff are so helpful and accommodating and the food is incredible. They have Lucitano horses and a few dogs (Lucky and Brownie). The views are breathtaking. Katie was our trail guide and I am so grateful that they hired her because she is perfect for this job, she is happy and kind and kept everyone safe. She helps you enjoy every bit of your trail ride with great energy. Very thankful to the whole staff for this once in a lifetime experience. I pray maybe I will be able to make it back one day. read more

PATIO Lodge - A perfect mix of country life and design. High quality double rooms in an cozy ambient on the north side of Faial Island. Breakfast, tasty picnics and an azorean cuisine at night. The lounge offers space for inspiration and relaxation in front of the fire place. All rooms with great view to the Atlantic Ocean and to the neighbourhood islands. At night enjoy the night sky full of thousands stars or just drink a local wine on the patio.

History

Established in 2012.

In 1993 the founders of PÁTIO Anja Tettenborn and Victor Hucke travelled the first time to the Azores. They found their passion for country and island life. The deep blue Atlantic Ocean with evergreen islands, all they need to decelerate in their breathless world. Countless journeys were following to the nature spoiled archipelago. 1994 Quinta do Moinho a 200 years old barn with a small windmill was bought and refurbished. 2012 PÁTIO was founded. PÁTIO became the 1st real Trail-Riding-Operator on the Azores. The aim of the company is to offer wonderful holidays, reduced to the basics and the most significant. Main activity in the first years were awesome Horse-Trails on Faial Island and Pico Island. In 2016 PATIO opened the first Lodge on the Azores. Today PATIO Horse & Lodge is running with his team a highly awarded accommodation and horse business. Riders and Non-Riders enjoy to stay in a sustainable environment that perfect integrates itself to the rural world of the Azores.

Meet the Business Owner: Victor H.

25 years as restless Manager looking permanently for satisfaction. He found his new way of life on the island of Faial. Now he is enjoying and shaping his life consciously. He is indulging his pleasure of country and island life with his guests and horses.
