I absolutely love this store and I always stop in whenever I'm visiting Europe! They sell all sort of little whimsical housewares and other goods, and it's a ton of fun to browse this colorful shop! Pylones is a French chain store, but it totally feels like you're stepping into a funky art gallery. Inside, it's colorful and vibrant, with all sorts of eye-catching merchandise and playful designs (think kitty cat shaped pizza cutters, naughty wine bottle stoppers, and cheerful floral scarves, among other things). It's like a handful of everyday objects that are transformed into functional art pieces that are fanciful and fun. As an artsy-fartsy person myself, trust me: this is THE place if you are looking for a unique gift that the creative in your life will absolutely adore. You cannot go wrong here. I purchased an adorable mini cheeseboard and knife set designed to resemble an artists palette, a frog tote bag, and a gorgeous oversized modern art scarf. I lugged that heavy cheeseboard set in my backpack-sized luggage all over Europe (worth it!), made everyday use of the tote bag at local markets, and wore the fashionable scarf to snazz up my outfit during my travels. As in the past, I am pleased with the quality and pricing on my goods. This location is right on the main drag in Heidelberg, and it's a cool place to browse if you are wandering the cobblestone streets and in need of a little retail therapy. Terrible experience with the old sales woman in the shop. She is such a racist and started talking about us after we entered the shop in German. She thought we couldn't understand German, but actually we can. Never Imagined how such a rude person exists. Shameful! read more

Love the colourful quirkiness of Pylones design! And was so happy when I spotted this store walking down Hauptstrasse. Beware the fact that you will most likely find (lots of) things you didn't know you needed until you spotted them at Pylones. Great thing is that most of them will actually be very useful, but with a twist. Like cute luggage tags, iPhone covers, office and kitchen items, tea strainers and so forth. In this particular shop you should also beware quite a grumpy staff, to say the least. In fact my friend was yelled at by the cashier when she had to exchange the iPhone cover I had got in the wrong size (I discovered that when I got home, had it cleared with Pylones and sent her the cover and reciept), for no reason at all. Jeez. If you're aware such things CAN happen you can still enjoy the shop with its brilliant design and quirkiness. read more
