It's a small library in the shape of a cat, it sits in front of a private home and is well stocked with a diversity of books. I had a brand new book in my trunk so I made my trade. This little library is nestled deep in a Silver Lake neighborhood. I wish my neighborhood had something like this. We lucked out with parking since the street is a narrow residential street. If you do visit, keep in mind you're in a quiet residential area. You can always park your car by the Silver Lake reservoir and take a short walk up .

Like the pictures show, it's creatively shaped like a black cat, sitting just behind a white, picket fence. It's got little cat quotes from Charles Dickens and Leonardo da Vinci neatly scrawled on it in blue paint and a penatgonal door with two latches. Its two shelves were packed with a pretty diverse selection of books, including a few for children. I left a copy of T.C. Boyle's "Riven Rock" and picked up a curious volume on conspiracy theories. I'm a fan of the whole program, and it takes guts to put your address out there the way these little library owners do.

I keep discovering them and it brings me joy, makes my day when that happens. Nice, quiet street with lots of trees and greenery. Cute library with a fair number of books, I have been better selection, but let's not get picky, the intention is always great and it's a nice resource for those who like to read and need more material. It's a great way to donate, always a good cause.

The library was filled with mostly silly romance novels but did have one fascinating book describing the history and technology and people behind weather forecasting. If you're going to spend the money to build a roundabout why install stop signs? They require that you stop. And they negate the elegance of a roundabout, that with light traffic, no one has to stop. That's just stupid. Why would you purposely be stupid? OK, I'm stepping off my soap box. It's like a belt and suspenders. It's dumb. Come on! OK, I'm really done now. The Little Free Library is lovely. It's right next to the street for easy access and you can even get a free bookmark if you like. There's also options to buy awesome shirts, vinyls, and even the plants! They have a vast selection of classics, modern fiction, fantasy and sci, and thrillers. It's…read morealways caught my eye though, so when I finally had a day off (kind of rare nowadays) I made it a point to beeline straight here shortly after opening. It's located off of Cahuenga Blvd & Chandler Blvd, with a small private parking lot out back and plenty of street parking around. I knew this bookstore was stacked but wow! The Iliad is literally stacked with books! From floor to ceiling, this place is packed with books every which way. Because of this and narrow aisles, it can get kind of tight in places but it's easy to maneuver around. They have practically every category/genre you can think of, but be prepared to take your time since it'll take a while to look through everything. There are some seats if you want to take a load off and there's a clean restroom near the back. The new and used books vary in price, but for the most part they're on the cheaper side. The employees were nice and they even have a couple of friendly cats that roam the store (so watch your step!). I can't believe it's taken me this long to visit The Iliad, but I'm a fan and I'll definitely be back!

I've been a longtime fan of the Iliad bookstore ever since it was over at its previous location off…read moreof Vineland. What this bookstore offers is tons and tons of books. The moment you walk in the front door you're confronted with the fact that they have a lot of books on a lot of subjects. In fact, at this location, the moment you walk into the door, you find a gigantic pile of all kinds of books on all kinds of subjects that they're offering for very discounted prices. I've often wondered what would happen if you wanted a book on the very bottom of the pile, and if you pulled it out, everything may come flying. But, that's just part of the fun of shopping at this bookstore, you never know what adventure you're going to encounter. In terms of selection, they have books on pretty much any subject you can think of. In some ways, it's a little hard to find certain things in this bookstore due to the massive quantity of books they have all set up in long aisles. In some cases, what I find kind of fun/curious is the fact that perhaps they will have a sign telling you that a certain subject of books in a particular aisle, but, when you look down that aisle, you can find none of the books on that subject. Mostly, I believe, that's just because they've sold out of that particular subject matter. But, it does make for an interesting quest, because there's been a few times when I've looked around the shop and found books on that subject in a completely different section. Thus, the chaos of this book shop adds to the overall quest for that great piece of reading material. This bookshop focuses a lot on fiction and poetry. They really have a large collection by various authors from across all genres and across the globe. So, if you're looking for that really unique piece of fiction and or poetry, this book shop most likely will have it. Overall, ever since its inception, Iliad has been a great place to find books. Yes, it is kind of a chaotic/fun sort of a mess. But, that adds to the overall uniqueness of this business. Fun place to shop!

Right next to the entrance to a parking lot this little free library was a delightful, unexpected…read morefind. I discovered it nearly packed with cookbooks. Little ones, big ones, themed ones, gobs and gobs of cookbooks. And this is another one of those LFL's that's partitioned off so that both larger books and much smaller books can be fit into their appropriate sections. A very clever idea. I wholeheartedly approve of the whole thing. Unfortunately, I discovered it at night so I wasn't able to fully appreciate the festive purple paint job or to get any really good photos. But maybe another patron will swing by and take care of that for me.
