She allowed her husband to become her Power of Attorney then simultaneously gave his power of attorney his daughter and allowed her to steal and desecrate my mother's wishes. This lawyer's actions were not just unethical but outright predatory, taking advantage of a vulnerable person for personal and/or financial benefit. When I took over as trustee I could very quickly see why execution of the trust was taking so long. They misfiled documents so I had to go to the assessors office myself and fix things. They tried to request prop 19 exemptions on two properties when my mother was only living in one of them which we had moved into to take care of her. With AI I was able to do more in weeks than my cousin was able to do in a year with them. I thought my cousin wasn't doing her duties as trustee at the time until I found it was SGVTP that was the reason. They said the transfer of trusteeship would be completed by May. I continued to wait for over a month then spent two months going back and forth with why they hadn't completed the transfer. All along they were charging us and wrote up paperwork I did not ask for because I had Gemini AI write it up in seconds. With AI (always cross reference with multiple ones like Grok, Meta, Google, -and Gemini to make sure they all concur). I could have saved us $8000 as nothing done needed a lawyers help. We would have probably hired them too at the time, as we were ignorant but AI has come a long way since then, so I don't blame my cousin for hiring them. If your trust is straightforward save your money and do it yourself with AI's help, and doing your own research making sure everything is legit, and save up for a good CPA to get good advice on that part. We do not have a difficult tax situation in any way and we make decent income. Therefore, by "being choosier of their clients", they aren't referring to our actual case being complicated or not making enough profit from us, but likely something related to our marriage status, our professions, or something else personal.
