We were at Royal Iberico for a Yelp Elite event and were greeted by a well-decorated, chic atmosphere and our warm and friendly restaurant hosts. The restaurant is small but intimate and cozy. On to the food- we started with a delicious and smooth Cava Apertif which was refreshing and tasty, and an olive bread with a garlic dip. The appetizer was a beautifully presented zucchini hors d'oeuvre, and we also enjoyed a charcuterie platter with Serrano ham, cheese, and chorizo. The main course was the highlight of our evening- Iberian steak with potatoes and mixed vegetables. The steak was both crispy and tender, flavorful and delicious. It had a tad too much salt for my taste, but overall it was very good. In between courses, we enjoyed live violin and accordion music, which was a great surprise. They played dynamically and romantically and added to the charm of the evening. Five stars for a lovely dinner and evening.

This is how we were first introduced to La Casona a while back. We revisited on Saturday and were blown away. If you enjoy eating good food and can forget about counting calories for a night, then here's my bullet proof recommendation: Start out with the bread and the amazing garlic/Kräuter butter that will be offered to you. Take it easy on the bread, regardless of how delicious the butter is. You have to remain hungry. Order the Gamba's appetizer - it is served in hot delicious garlic oil in which you can dip your bread. But again, take it easy on the bread. Then, for your main course, order the lamb dish (see provided picture in the business overview). Oh yeaaaaah.....

Not a friendly or welcoming atmosphere, would not recommend.

Everyone of us of course had steaks, with some potatoes and a bit of vegetables. The red wine was flowing, some of the best Argentinian wine of course. The inside is reminiscent of an old-school steakhouse. It's dimly lit and lots of wood and dark furnishings. There's shelves and walls of bottles and more bottles. Besides a great company and the good food, there was also bands serenading us through our dinner. Can't beat the abundance of entertainment at every corner of this dining room. The place felt so alive and vibrant. This is touted as one of the best steak houses in Cologne. There's a lot more competition today, but this one is still running strong.
