Well, I got green team and so did my friend. And she also has a sibling who was in gold team. but thats not all. I saw one of my friends when I was picking up my schedule. She got gold team. and she's the oldest child. and I feel like the school is just putting them in teams based on if they had a sibling who was in gold or green. for example; I have a sibling who was in gold and im in green. coincidence? I think not. there is more proof of my theory. all of my friends that are the first one to go to this middle school are in gold team. but all of my friends who have a sibling that was in gold got green. but thats just a theory. That's…read morefive and a half years worth of studying, writing papers, and working on nightmarish group projects. I guess it was worth it. I do have a fancy little paper to show for it now. Hopefully I'll be able to add a fancy job in the near future as well! In any case, I've spent a lot of time at UHH over the past few years. Though it wasn't always easy, I can most assuredly say that I've come out a much higher quality individual. Going into it, I had an admittedly strong aversion to studying and work. Thankfully UHH is a relatively forgiving system as far as general education courses go, which were basically all that I took for my first year and a half. What really allowed me to mature and get it together was when I switched majors from biology to computer science. Entering into the computer science program was somewhat of a rude awakening for me. First off, there was a lot more math than I'd ever envisioned putting myself through previously. Secondly, the CS department was not quite as forgiving as the others I'd taken classes from. Being that I was in too deep to change majors again, I was forced to buckle down and work hard in the computer science program. The classes were rigorous and the material was by no means a cakewalk. The phrase "trial by fire" does a pretty good job of summing up a good bit of its courses. I can't really speak on the experience in other majors, but getting through the CS department was very transformative for me. I can honestly say that I feel sufficiently equipped to enter into the work force now as a software engineer. Here are a few other noteworthy things about UHH (good things first): There are very small class sizes for the most part, especially in upper division courses. It makes for better relationships with both fellow students and your professors, among other things. The professors and staff are generally pretty helpful. This ties in a bit to the class size thing. Being that you'll tend to have a better relationship with your professors, they of course are more likely to do you a solid when you need it (within reason). Parking is relatively cheap in comparison to other universities. Of course, if you're from Hilo you'll probably think that having to pay for parking in the first place is kind of outrageous. It's not too bad nonetheless. There is a tiered parking system in which you pay $60 a year for red zone (closer to campus) passes and $25 a year for general zone (a bit farther but still close) passes. The prices are reduced a bit for single-semester purchases. There are a cafeteria and fitness center on campus. I didn't ever use either of them, but I've heard the food is good and facilities are nice! The tuition here is probably one of the best in the entire country as far as bang for your buck. My main gripe with the school is that it's basically impossible to graduate on time if you don't follow your major's four-year plan from the very beginning of your college career. There are a plethora of things that contribute to this, but most stem from the fact that it's a small school. To that point, though, you should know that when you're going in. Overall, I feel like I got a good education and am equipped to handle whatever situation I may encounter in the work-force.

Due to hazardous weather conditions, the tour we were on should never have left the harbor. Not only were the ocean wave conditions reported by the coast guard to be clearly dangerous, the driving hard rain made the conditions completely unacceptable not only for safety reasons but for customer comfort. Despite my several attempts to point this out to the staff answering the phone one day prior to the tour as well as the captain of the boat prior to departure, they blocked my attempts to reschedule or refund the trip in spite of coast guard and national weather service small craft warnings, beach closures and other tour operators canceling their tours under the same conditions. After waves broke over the bow of this small craft, the captain aborted the tour and turned around. After an unusually leisurely return to the dock, I called and asked for a refund. Later we were told based on our return time, we had received the full tour and a refund would not be issued. After escalating our concern, a senior member of the company emailed us and said we would be issued a full refund. Over six weeks later they have still not issued us a refund. We had to file a dispute with our credit card company.

I've been a massage apprentice, so I like to go here every once in a while to support the students…read more It is a student massage, so you have to expect that it won't be a professional massage and it might even suck, but the whole idea of a "cheap" massage is to be a test client for the Massage apprentice. On that note, I've had good and not so good, but I go in expecting to get a student massage. They do also have licensed therapists, but I haven't been able to book with one yet. The booking can get a little tricky as they don't answer the phone when they are in a Massage and they get busy so might not get a response right away. They do accept walk ins but it hasn't been my luck to get a same day appointment. I'd continuing going though.

I was debating between Mid Pacific Medical Training Institute (MPMTI) and Hawaii Institute of Healthcare &Training Services (HIHTS). After doing some research and looking into the options that I had, I chose to inquire at both programs. I contacted HIHTS and left a message, but I was never given a follow-up. When I contacted MPMTI, I left a message with the administrator (Lin), and the instructor (Jan) called me back the next day. I met with her on that Friday and started my classes on the following Monday. The registration process was quick, easy and affordable. *** They provide students with payment options and work with other resources (Alu like, American Job Center etc.) to help with the tuition cost.*** Let's start with the facility, which is amazing. The class room is spacious with only a maximum of 8 students at a time. It's very clean, organized and has everything needed to succeed in the 6 week course. They also have 2 identical "resident rooms" with all the proper tools and supplies you need to practice your "skills". They give you all the resources you need to learn the material such as, daily handouts, textbook, work book and access to an online classroom where they have videos to learn from as well. They also provide snacks and coffee to enjoy during your breaks. They even offer a supply of scrubs to purchase, if you'd like. ***Free parking is also provided with proof of current vehicle insurance, so there's no need to hunt for parking. Parking is also secure with video cameras.*** During the classes, we are given thorough information on the proper ways to provide care to our community's residents in rehabilitation centers and long-term care facilities. We're taught about medical conditions, signs and symptoms, along with best treatment techniques and how to provide care for activities of daily living. Jan also instilled the importance of our services and care. She stresses the significance of being a CNA that genuinely cares for the residents that depend on them and her extensive knowledge of the medical field is greatly appreciated. We also got to work with residents at Life Care Center, which was a meaningful way to experience the work of a CNA first hand. It gives you an in depth understanding of the skills you learn, how to apply them and how to be flexible and adaptable in a case by case scenario. Overall, Jan and Lin are excellent examples of people who thrive to provide the best education to Hawaii's future CNAs. They really put all their efforts into helping their students be successful in this course. They walk you through the process step by step. They do everything possible to give their students all the assistance they require to do their best, starting from the time that they welcome you, to the finish line - passing your Prometric exam and obtaining your state license. I would recommend MPMTI to anyone who is looking to get or re-cert their CNA cert/license. MPMTI is truly the epitome of an institute that puts their students education and experience at the forefront of what they do. I'm extremely happy with my chose to get my CNA license with MPMTI. Keep up the hard work ladies! You guys are an inspiration and a reminder that good people still exist in the world!

The facility is very clean and it has the appropriate supplies to help you become a CNA. Now, as far as Ms. Jan and Ms. Lin, they are both very compassionate and caring people. They want to assure that we succeed after completing the class, and that we share our abilities for a better community! Anyways, I found the class online and I was impressed with their website and the photos that were posted. I contacted the facility and spoke with Ms. Jan over the phone. Over the phone, she briefly discusses how she admits (at maximum) 8 people per class session, which is also posted on the website, then asks if you can come to the facility in-person so she may interview and thoroughly talk to you about the course and what to expect. Altogether, you will feel so confident and motivated to be a CNA after completing the class. You will be disappointed that the class has finished, but you will NOT be disappointed with the class. I highly recommend Mid Pacific Medical Training Institute :) Also, I forgot to mention that the facility sells very cute scrubs at a reasonable price! Call or stop by to see the various types of scrubs that the may have to offer.
