Visiting from Nelson, on the way to Arthur's Pass, the National Park was a decent detour- but worth it for the beautiful coastal drive & experience.
Driving to the area along was delightful, we pulled over many a times to take in all the views. Arriving at the park, with easy parking, there were a number of different paths to try- though we only planned for the main Pancake Rock walk.
The Pancake Rock path was an easy quick walk to the shoreline overlook- (though note not handicap accessible due to stairs)-
The natural pools, where the waves wash in, creating blowholes, were mesmerizing to watch. We spent longer than we had expected just watching the tide come in and out, birds interacting with the waves. Very meditative gorgeous must-see. read more
