I have been a member of the YMCA for 23 years. Four different branches. Never had to sign an…read moreannual contract. Never! But the Bryan YMCA requires it if you want to have automatic payments. First they try to hit me with a joining fee, I guess it doesn't matter that I have a membership in good standing in another state. Then they decide they are doing me a favor and wave the joining fee. Which I have never paid at any other Y. Strike 1! So in my infinite wisdom I decide I will do a three month membership since I only need a temporary term. 3 months must be paid in full. No monthly plan. Mind you I already pay $60.00 a month at my home Y. But, I'm going to bite the bullet. Annual membership rates are $40.00 a month. So i'm thinking $120.00 for three months. No Problem. Wrong! Big problem! If you do a three month, it costs $80.00 month! In Bryan, Ohio! Be careful people that $40.00 is the hook. They are not crystal clear on that until you get there. So I tell the guy at the desk "no way!" No way I'm paying that kind of money on top of my home gym dues. Which are only $60.00. So the guy at the desk says he will do the $40.00 per month for 3 months. $120.00. I'm like okay but I will only give you my card if you can promise me you won't come back later saying I owe you another $120.00. He said "no problem he would take the heat if something changed." He ran my card. Immediately he hands me an invoice that says " i payed $120.00 and owe $120.00. Guess he thought I wouldn't read it. Next thing I know, I'm talking to the Membership Director who states they can't do the price the guy the desk promised me. I immediately told them to credit the charge back to my card. They assured me it would show back on my account the next day. WRONG! So I go back. Now we can't do anything because the people who actually know how to get results are there. It's Friday. And they wont be there until Monday. This I figured out on my way there. I knew I would get the run-around. No surprise really. So today Monday rolls around. I am told they have done everything they can do on there end. It's my bank! they suggest that I call my bank. I tell them if my bank says "it's not on there end" I will be in there gym everyday until I get my money back. I was threatened with calling the police. NICE! Guess what? The bank says " they received no request to reverse the charge. Apparently you can't reverse a charge by blinking your eyes and pretending it didn't happen. Imagine that! So now I have to wait up to 10 Business Days to get my money back because now the have to investigate the transaction. It's amateur hour over there at the Bryan YMCA. I wish I could post the pictures here of the lack of cleanliness in the place. The pictures a have are disgusting. The same filth that was there when I started going last October. By the way. Another gym across town gave me a temporary 2 month membership for no initiation fee for $75.00 for both months. It was so easy, No muss, no fuss!

We did lose out HIT training class teacher which was a huge bummer but I understand not the gyms fault. Here's hoping they can find someone to replace her. Not perfect but worth the $40/month. They also waived the registration fees in January!

Care is individualized for each child and each child is given a chance to grow and learn in a respectful environment. The kids spend a good portion of the day outside so if you visit and the space seems small it is because they don't spend all day in the building. If it is over 10 degrees they are outside playing. Kids come home exhausted, happy, satiated, and wonderfully dirty. They are fed organic, healthy snacks, and they actually eat them. I almost choked on my coffee when I read the email that my son had asked for extra kale at snack time. Are you serious? It wasn't in chicken nugget form and he ate it? The administrators are working with kids and teachers all day so sometimes it can take a few calls to get questions answered. Don't get discouraged by this. It is worth the effort to get a hold of them and take a tour. As a foster parent I've experienced a lot of daycares and preschools in the area. There is no place in the county that compares to Green Apple.

Jill and Eric are absolutely amazing people and always treat my daughter as an equal and not a "child". They refer to eachother as "friends" and take a very gentle and realistic approach to how they construct their afternoons. Jill and Eric plan activities that involve mostly items found in nature and encourage the children to utilize their imagination to create fun and educational activities. I'm super excited that Green Apple is offering Spanish Immersion at AALC and will definitely be enrolling my daughter in this awesome opportunity. Thank you Green Apple for providing such wonderful care to my precious girl.

We had a great experience with Ebony and Children at Play Event Childcare. We were in Detroit for…read morea wedding and needed child care for six rambunctious kids ranging from 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old. We were able to book CAPEC months in advance, which gave us the peace of mind to book the trip knowing that we had reliable child care in place for the night of the wedding. The reservation process was smooth and easy. I spoke to Ebony by phone and she explained her services and confirmed that she could accommodate the size of our group. Once we decided to book CAPEC, we received a link to fill out all the necessary information online (i.e. allergy information and emergency contacts for each child). We then received a written agreement laying out all the terms and information we needed to plan ahead. Given that we had a large group of six kids, Ebony brought a second staff member, Yolaunda. The two of them came very well prepared with plenty of toys and activities for the kids to play with. As soon as they arrived at the hotel they had the kids engaged with bubbles, balloons, and musical instruments. They also did a great job of comforting/distracting the kids so that the parents could slip out without causing a meltdown. Throughout the evening Ebony texted us updates and pictures of the kids playing and enjoying themselves, which was very reassuring and put our minds at ease so we could enjoy the wedding festivities. When we got back to the hotel at midnight all of the kids were fast asleep. The next morning the kids told us how much fun they had with Ebony and Yolaunda, which is really the best feedback you can get. Thank you Ebony, Yolaunda and Children At Play Event Childcare! We can't thank you enough.
