Love, love, love our Thai tapas. It's just what we needed after almost two weeks eating tapas and paella! We took the Metro from Sol which was an easy 3 stops away and a quick 6 minute walk from the station. The posted lunch hours are 1:30-2:30 but they stayed open for guests beyond 2:30.. We ordered several Thai items and enjoyed all of them - som tum, Isaan sausage, kow moo yang (crying tiger pork) and grilled pork meatballs. All were delicious with authentic Thai flavors. My only wish was that there was a bit more lime to the salad and crying tiger sauce. The drinks were unique. We ordered the Blue Butterfly drink and the Bael Flower drink. Both were amazing and authentic although a little on the sweet side so we had to dilute the drink with a bit of water. The service was a little slow otherwise this rating would've been a perfect 5.. All in all, worth the trek for Thai tapas! read more

Like being back in Thailand and only dining at the best restaurants. Pui's Thai offerings are fresh, authentic (with some updating -- even better) served on a warm, welcoming venue akin to a neighborhood favorite hangout. Ever visited Thailand? A Legit Thai food from me (A Thai) just the items you see in the menu makes me excited right away! It looks like real Thai food from home! Everything taste very authentic! I would have given this four or five stars... but the price was surprisingly high. Let's concentrate on the good stuff: we were in Madrid after several weeks in Valencia, and looking for a restaurant near our hotel. Only a few blocks away, Pui Thai Tapas looked like a great option. The seating area was perfect, the waiter was extremely helpful, and the menu indicated a wide variety of options. When it came to the food, we were blown away. The flavors were outstanding, fresh, and delicious. DELICIOUS! I considered drinking the remaining curry from the pot. Between the vegetables, the tofu, and the curry, we were absolutely thrilled to have chosen this spot. If you go here, please be aware of the prices. Beer will run you 2.50EUR, curries (we chose the green veggie and red veggie) cost us 13.90EUR each, and rice is 3.00EUR per person. While we were happy to pay 38.80EUR for the total cost for such a fine meal, it was a bit of a sticker shock. Would I go back? Yes... but I would save my pennies first. read more

We really enjoyed ourselves here. The restaurant itself is unassuming and generally 'a hole in the wall', however if you're not expecting a trendy eatery, the food itself was excellent! My husband our two kids and I went (kids are 7 and 10) and we got the Tom Kha soup which was a rich coconut with lime and cilantro. It was fresh, sweet, spicy and creamy - the kids loved it. We ordered he green chicken curry for me and the girls the share and ended up feeding the whole family. Everyone loved both dishes and we left full and happy. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the Thai tea, which tasted really watered down. Wasn't worth the order. My husband got the Green Thai tea and liked it. Very authentic Thai street food, right down to the grungy plastic bowls and fresh ingredients. The green Thai tea was not overly sweet (earthy and delicious), and the chicken panang curry stood out as the clear dinner winner. The Tom Kha Gai soup fell a bit flat - far too acidic for my tastes, I've had much better - and it rubbed me the wrong way that I was $12 in on white rice for my family ($3 per bowl) before we had even ordered anything. The Yelp reviews said as much, we knew what we were getting into, but it's the reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 to this very respectable Thai restaurant. Having lived in Thailand for awhile, it brought back some memories. read more

It's been two weeks of non-stop Spanish food and considering I am a weekly regular of Thai food from H.ell's kitchen in NYC, I needed my Thai fix pronto. This place became totally packed and included a good mix of locals and natives. I wish I could've ordered more food to authenticate but the (mo krab)crispy pork with red pepper paste/basil leaves/green beans was so spot on and the pork was very crispy and thick. Dare I say it beats all of the Thai places in Hell's Kitchen. I would definitely come back as it's very legit and the best Thai meal I have had in a long time and probably the best meal during my two weeks read more

We decided to take a mini adventure over to the other side of town to try Pui's Thai Tapas based upon reading excellent trip advisor reviews. As we entered this little restaurant, we were greeted by several staff members filled with smiles. After all Thailand is called "the land of smiles." It was early on a Saturday night, with a Spain-France soccer match going on outside, leaving the restaurant nice and quiet. As we flipped open the menu, we noticed several unique dishes. We decided to start with smoked salmon vegetable spring rolls composed of soft rice paper. These were fresh and tasteful. Next we tried the chili basil fried rice. This dish was different from any other type of Thai dish I've ever had. After that we ordered the crispy fish in red curry sauce. This was my favorite. Not too greesy or oily. The curry was filled with so many different spices and favors. Nothing like I've ever tastes in my life. I cook Thai curry all the time....Panang, red curry, green curry, but my curry always lacks this authentic Thai touch. I would describe this restaurant as gourmet, but authentic at the same time. Also inexpensive since the portion sizes are rather generous. Atmosphere: the restaurant had a nice, calm and quiet ambiance with soothing music in the background. Everything was clean and fresh. The staff was friendly and welcoming. If you are in Madrid, you MUST check this place out. I've been to Thailand before and I would say this is still the best Thai food I have ever tasted! I've been to this restaurant twice. Liked it the first time, loved it the second. An intimate space with about 15 tables, and reservations are a must, especially on weekends. The last time I was there was on a Sunday at lunchtime, and I had a delightful salad with grilled salmon and mango. One of the best salads I've had, hands down. We split two entrees which were also very good. The drawback is the price. You get good value for your money, but €24 per person (1 large salad to share, 2 entrées to share, and 1 Coke. No alcohol or dessert) is over many people's budget for lunch. Good for a splurge...or a date. Also, at €12.90, the menú del día looks great. read more

Not a tapas place (appetizers can be tapas, I guess), but I loved this place so much that we ate here twice on a 3 night trip to MAD. Their food is authentic (been to Bangkok!) and delicious. We tried the green curry and the red curry. I preferred the green curry, but ask to add more vegetables. If you order the chicken kind, it only comes with bamboo shoots. If you ask for the tofu kind, it comes with a variety of other veggies. You have to order rice separately - one small one was not enough for two of us because it was so good! There was a spaghetti special - sauteed vegetables with protein with spaghetti noodles. It was delicious. But the best dish was their grilled lamb chops. Very flavorful with an awesome sauce! If you don't have reservations on the weekends, come right when they open, otherwise you must to take-away instead of eating there. read more

Excellent! We had the steamed pork dumplings, fresh spring rolls with crab, grilled pork with sticky rice, and pad thai with prawns. I wasn't too impressed with the imitation crab meat but LOVED the dumplings. Overall everything was quite good. Some of the best Thai I've had in some time.
