Wanted to try a new restaurant while I was in Jalisco and I found this next to where I was staying…read more The service was really good and attentive to us. The ambiance was very chill but also classy at the same time. I saw families and people on dates. I went with a huge group so it was more of a relaxed vibe. We all ended up grabbing different plates but I will tell you about 3 of them. 1. La Parillada 7/10 - a combination of meats such as hot links, hot dogs, pork chop , steak and fries. Nothing crazy but a solid dish overall. 2. Camarones Empanizados 8.5/10 - breaded shrimp with some rice and a salad. Solid choice if you're looking for something basic but yummy. 3. Camarones Veracruzanos 9/10 - best dish we tried. Essentially breaded shrimp but the breading is different than the Empanizados and they give you dipping sauces that took this over the top! So delicious! We also tried the Horchata and Limonada and they were both delicious! I would choose the horchata since I'm a fan of that but you can't go wrong with either or! Swing by if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

Teco (short for the Spanish word of Owl) is a slightly more upscale dining found near Lake Chapala…read more While traveling with the BF's family to his hometown of Jiquilpan we were told that Teco was the place to go. Plus it was on our way back to the Guadalaraja airport, so we were game. It's pretty unassuming from it's exterior, but inside it's rather large. Like most restaurants in the area, it's got that indoor/outdoor thing down. Which I love. Just watch out for the fly stickies hanging from the ceiling. You can tell this is used quite frequently for large parties because there are private rooms and plenty of large tables. We were seated nearest to the outdoor patio. Which was more like a backyard, complete with kids toys to play. I mean, really? A slightly upscale restaurant that invites people to bring their kids and lets them play safely in their "backyard" while parents eat and drink? Freaking brilliant! The majority of the food offered by Teco is fish. I'm not a fan of fish or anything from the ocean. But I was game to try the shrimp while the BF ordered an entire fried fish... head and all. Included with the head were teeth. This fish has TEETH! It was a little freaky. He claimed the fish was delicious and perfectly cooked, right down to the eyeballs. Yeah. Eyeballs. *shudders* My safe menu option consisted of shrimp ala diabla. I asked for it spicy, but alas, it wasn't nearly spicy enough. The beer is ice cold and perfect on a warm day. Teco is a great stop if you're traveling around the Lake Chapala region. Apparently, it's been around for quite some time and a favorite among locals. And what better way to travel then do what the locals do. Oh and there are owls EVERYWHERE. Love it!
