Really love this local deli/cafe, just wish i would have found it sooner as i live extremely close to this place and have only just started to go there within the last couple of months. Great breakfast menu, have had several different dishes and have never been disappointed. Have also gone in for lunch and a dinner service, both meals were great. French dip was very good, BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger was good although I was not a huge fan of the BBQ sauce, personal preference there was nothing wrong with the burger as it was cooked properly and was yummy. My wife and I got carry out from this place last week. It was awesome! I love deli sandwiches and am so excited that this place is close to us(Troy) and makes me not want to drive any further for my deli needs. I got the Long Lake Supreme. Typically I find that pastrami is better then corned beef so I always look for sandwich's that include both or just pastrami. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed both equally. My wife got the John R Special. Turkey sandwich that was solid. What really moves this place from 4 stars to 5 stars was their homemade chips and tomato soup for dipping the chips in. I am salivating just typing about it. Think bread basket but better prices and a little more variety. I will be back! read more

Having lived my entire life in Troy Pudge's is A-ok to Yay! I'm a fan depending on the time of year. I honestly drive by this every day on my way to work, am two miles from it for lunch hour, and until last week I hadn't been in there for probably 10 years. We used to go for breakfast. I find their corn beef 'hash' to be nice n fresh, but not really 'hash'y. Cut it up finer please! I'm just splitting hairs I suppose, but their selection on breakfast is slim IMO. I'll go to Recipes, or for killer hash Jimmy's Coney at Dequindre and 16 mile. There's a lot of competition around town for the one thing they do decently, and that's lunch. Their sandwiches are pretty darn good. Chips with that yum, swap out fries instead, yea we do that, oh you wanted a large side of super yum 'slaw instead of your chips, cool beans bam there ya go. Half sandwich and soup, game on. Pretty much price stays the same, so awesome flexibility. Major points for that. I love their pastrami, the crust on it is awesome. Soooo much seasoning crusty addiction generating tid-bits. CAN I SCRAPE THE PAN PLEASE! nomnomnom. I've never tried more of their diner food, or looked over the menu. Maybe they have some yummy meat loaf, or killer chicken fried steak. What I know is the place has been around in it's same form for ages, and works. I think i'll go read some Yelp reviews to see what I want to try next visit. Update: I originally rated this place 4 stars. But, over the weekend I was very disappointed! My family ordered 3 Rochester Road Rubens but my mom's was filled with corned beef, my dads was half way filled to their normal stack, and mine was as thick as something I could have gotten from Big Boy (a few measly slices). I am very disappointed, since on their menu they state that it triple stacked... And every other time I have ordered this sandwich it was stacked super thick that I could not even take a full bite! My son also ordered scrambled eggs, and they looked really nasty. If he didn't insist on eating them I would have sent them back. They were also burnt. The waitress that we had was really slow, we had her before when we went in and she was slow then too. Hopefully Pudge's would redeem themselves!!!! I am a fan of corned beef and Rubens, but nothing compares to their rochester road Ruben!!!! The atmosphere is very cosey and the staff is friendly as well. I usually order take out, though. Since COVID, we have tried to order take out lunch or dinner once or twice a week, to make sure that we are supporting our local restaurants. Pudge's Place is one that we find our selves coming back to again and again. the sandwiches are delicious, the portions are huge (I split a sandwich with my 7 year old, and neither of us can finish our half.) the staff is always pleasant and helpful. I have never been here before but was greeted with a warmth like I was a regular today. Cheryl my waitress made some great menu suggestions (the menu is very extensive with lots of choices). I settled on the Chester Salad which was fresh and very good. The warm grilled pita was a great addition. The service was exceptional and the food matched and the prices are very reasonable, portion sizes big enough to take a box home with you. I highly recommend this family restaurant. read more

Even though I grew up in the area, I did not try this diner until a friend and I reunited for breakfast. It's in an odd location in a somewhat empty plaza in a less busy intersection of Troy, and the title of the restaurant (including Cafe and Deli) makes it sound like a place where you could just pick up a sandwich and go, rather than sit and eat. We were surprised with how big the actual dining room is and the quality of its food. The lunch menu is quite extensive with a variety of salads, sandwiches, etc. but the breakfast menu is minimal and basic in comparison. With the few choices for the most important meal of the day, they have at least mastered the classics. Portions are big, the price is right (all breakfast items under $8) and the food came out right away. I ordered a farmer's omelette (ham, sausage, green peppers, onions and mushrooms on the inside, topped with cheddar) along with cottage cheese and wheat toast. The menu offered subbing for low cost, so I went for it and did egg whites for the omelette and replaced the usual hash browns with cottage cheese. OMG - The meal was incredibly filling. The ham was smoked and cubed, and the sausage was in big chunks. I could taste and see every fresh veggie. And the cheese was plentiful and melted beautifully. I am a "clean-your-plate" kind of gal ... and I did this without any trouble. My friend got the same breakfast without the substitutes and she had to take home half the meal. Kind of random side note: The bathrooms are actually really nice for a diner. They were complete with matching hand soap and lotion, air fresheners and spray, antibacterial solution for the door knob and folded paper towels. read more

Breakfast review... sorry, not going back The eggs over medium left a water trail from the kitchen and infecting the partially cooked, completely uneventful potatoes and grease laden bacon (never again). Let's talk bacon - it's bacon, right? I would have bet these burnt survivors were on the grill three days occasionally being seasoned with left overs parts, hardened to a crust each night and kindly woken up for a warm delivery on the day I arrived. Meh, I've experienced better is right. I've only been here for breakfast, but this place ranges from OK to mediocre. I haven't had any horror stories/near death experiences at Pudges, but there's definitely better breakfasts in the Metro Detroit area. The interior kind of resembles an IHOP, but slightly more depressing. The food is unmemorable. I usually get over easy eggs, hash browns and toast, which is really hard to screw up. However, my dining companions that ordered FANCIER (and I'm using that term very loosely) dishes left disappointed. Go to the Breakfast Club or Sweet Lorraines if you want tastier brunch foods. read more

Didn't even know this place existed until my husband found it on Yelp! GREAT little place! We both had burgers, which were excellent, and the fries were super crispy. The place is neat, clean and not overly large. The menu is pretty extensive and I look forward to going back to check it out! ONLY downside was our server was BEYOND apathetic about serving us. A smallish out-of-the-way diner that seems to have brunch down pat. There's a difference between corned beef hash that is clearly canned and the sumptuous stuff that I was served this morning. It was freshly made! With identifiable roast beef! Lots of big pieces of fresh green pepper and onion! Craziness. Pancakes perfectly powdered. Over-easy eggs that were cooked to near-perfection and that melted into fresh wheat toast. It's weird how simple toast can be well done. My friends liked their farmer's omelettes. Pudge's is a nice small diner with a homey feel. The first time we came for lunch and I the Reuben sandwich with the house made chips. The sandwich was great! Dustin had some thing too, but I was so into my delicious corned beef, cheese, bread, sauce, and chips that I have no idea what my husband ate. So. . . seeing that there was a breakfast menu we thought we would come back and try it out. Since being pregnant, I've been hooked on corned beef hash. I heard that the corned beef hash was especially good here, in that it was fresh made with corned beef, home fires, peppers and onions. I ordered my eggs scrambled well, and corned beef hash. My eggs were cooked just how I like them, but then the corned beef hash was . . . . .sad and disappointing. The corned beef was not salty, or flavorful at all. I was a little confused as to why there were slices and chunks of meat. The scale of the meat and potatoes was too large. Pudge's always has great food! The portions are very large. We love the omelets and deli sandwiches. Soups are very tasty. The waitstaff and hostess are very friendly. This place has wonderful sandwiches! We love their rye bread, it makes great toast for breakfast. We've been here for both breakfast and dinner. It's hard to say which I like better. This place was recommended by a friend who grew up in the area so I decided to stop in, the corned beef sandwich was recommended to me. I am very well traveled around the metro Detroit area and I would have to say this is probably at the bottom of the list of corned beef sandwiches. There are many delis especially on the west side of metro Detroit that rival each other its a known " thing" to some of us, this doesn't even make it into the running. Tonys Deli and Keego Harbor, Starr Deli , Pickles n Rye in West Bloomfield, Siegels Deli and Stage Deli in West Bloomfield , Main Street Deli in Rochester are all FAR superior to this place. There was barely any meat on the sandwich I almost took the meat from one half to make the other half bigger. Bread was thick and doughy , it did not have that famous crust on the rye that all the other deli's have. I do not recommend the corned beef. Im fearful of what a breakfast may be. My wife an I decided to grab lunch out and Pudge's seemed a good choice as we were coming from different locations. Caught the end of the lunch crowd and got a nice booth being seated by a nice gentleman. It must be good as 2 Troy police officers were eating there! We have gone here before and the food is consistently good and reasonably priced. Our server was pleasant and helped us understand our options. Meal was served quickly and efficiently. My wife had soup and 1/2 sandwich combo with the "Crooks" turkey and homemade chicken soup. She really enjoyed it. I had the lunch portion hot beef sandwich with homemade mushroom soup. The soup was excellent and the sandwich good but the beef had been heated up on grill and was a little tough but I would order again. It is a place we are be glad to go back too all the time. Nice hidden gem in the area. Sign is deceiving indicating deli and cafe. They serve breakfast and dinner as well. The place is very clean and waitstaff is pleasant. I really love the crest combo. My friends and I also enjoy the home made chips and chicken noodle soup. Friendly staff and very nice service. I do not dine in but when I pick up for carry out, everyone is wearing masks, there is hand sanitizer available and all the tables for social distancing are marked. We went to Pudge's Place last night. Our dinner was amazing! We had the chicken Caesar salad and the Reuben sandwiches. The sandwiches were served with homemade potato chips. Yum! The portions are huge. I couldn't eat my whole Reuben. It was stuffed with the best corned beef I have ever had. My husband is still talking about his sandwich and the salad. Oh, I was too full for dessert but my husband ordered the rice pudding and said it was delish too. The Restaurant is very moderately priced and looks clean and bright inside. My husband has been ranting and raving about this place for a very long time, said the made the best Reuben sandwiches in the area. I agreed to go today for lunch and menu also stated the Reuben was their specialty and I was really disappointed! First of all there were empty tables and we still had to wait, we were discussing where we were going to eat and ready to leave when we finally got seated. The bread was not grilled long enough, it was not brown on the outside and the bread was soggy. Also the cheese was not melted at all and I was not able to taste the sauce. The corn beef was okay.
